LanceM.FritzservedasUnionPacific’schairman,president,andchief executiveofficerfrom2015untilhis retirementin2023,culminatingadistinguished23-yearcareerwiththerailroad. Today,hecontinuestocontributetothe companyasaspecialadvisor.
LancebeganhisjourneywithUnionPacificinJuly2000asvicepresidentandgeneralmanagerofEnergyintheMarketing andSalesDepartment.Histalentanddedicationquicklypropelledhimthroughthe ranks.Heheldkeyexecutivepositionsin theOperatingandLaborRelationsdepartmentsandeventuallyservedaspresident andchiefoperatingofficerofUnionPacific Railroad.Hisleadershipwasinstrumentalin navigatingthecompanythroughperiods ofsignificantgrowthandoperationalchallenges,ensuringitspositionasaleaderin thetransportationindustry.
InFeb.2024,Lancejoinedtheboard ofFiserv,Inc.Hisexpertiseincorporate governanceandstrategicmanagementisa valuableassettothecompany.
LanceisaproudgraduateofBucknell University,wherehelaidthefoundation forhiscareerinbusiness.Hefurtherhoned hisskillsbyearningamaster’sdegreein managementfromtheprestigiousKellogg SchoolofManagementatNorthwestern University.Hiseducationalbackgroundhas beenpivotalinhisapproachtoleadership andstrategicdecision-making.
Lance’scommitmenttoserviceextends beyondhisprofessionalachievements. Ashisbusinessgrew,Sidpurchasedhis firstofficebuildinginWestOmahainthe late1970s.Bythemid-1980s,heopeneda UL-listed24/7monitoringcenter,propellingSEi’sgrowth.Today,SEihasofficesin Lincoln,DesMoines,IowaCity,andKansas City,withover220employeesanda fleet ofservicevehicles.Thecompanyserves
over18,000customersacross44states,includingmanyofOmaha’stopcompanies, financialinstitutions,universities,schools, hospitalsandchurches.
Sidremainsactiveinthebusinessbut hashandedday-to-dayoperationsto hisson,Mike,whohasbeenwithSEifor over30years.Thethirdgenerationofthe Meridithfamilyisalsogettinginvolved, ensuringSEi’slegacycontinues.
Sidandhiswife,Sara,aredeeply involvedintheOmahacommunity.They stayactivewiththeirfamilyandworkwith organizationsliketheAmericanLegion, NebraskaCommunityFoundation,Autism ActionPartnership,andtheBoys&Girls Clubs.TheyarealsoinvolvedwithNebraskaWesleyanUniversityandarelifetime membersofDucksUnlimitedandPheasantsForever,reflectingSid’spassionfor wildlifeconservation.
