About the Cover

This year’s visitor guide cover features the recently installed Abe Lincoln mural created by artist McKenzie Phelps, based on the award-winning quilt by New York quilt artist Kimberly Soper. The 2024 mural project is the result of a long-term collaboration between Visit Lincoln, LUX Center for the Arts and the International Quilt Museum, with special thanks to the Lied Center for Performing Arts and Ayars & Ayars for making the project possible. The 20 ft. by 15 ft. mural can be viewed on the west side of the Lied Center for Performing Arts near the entrance of the Carson Theater. The quilt entered the International Quilt Museum in 2019 after winning the People’s Choice and First Place Improvisation awards at the Modern Quilt Guild’s annual QuiltCon.
