The Old Market Directory
The Old Market Association (OMA) is celebrating 50 years of history in their District. Plans for special events and promotions, highlighting the District’s history, were set to be held in 2020, but COVID changed those plans. The late Mark Mercer and his father, Dr. Samuel Mercer, are credited for the development of The Old Market. The French Cafe, now Le Bouillon, opened in 1969 and led to the opening of other longtime, much-loved Old Market businesses such as Homer’s Music, M’s Pub, Mr. Toad’s, Overland Sheepskin Co., Spaghetti Works and Nouvelle Eve. OMA is proud to commemorate their unique area of the city. “We encourage individuals to step back into history and check out the ever-changing, yet consistent, Old Market District. Our one-of-a kind neighborhood takes you back into the history of Omaha,” said Chip Allen, The Old Market Association President. “Come see why we have remained a staple in Omaha for over 50 years.”
