About The Project

General Objective

The project focused on contributing to enhancing living conditions through improving climatic conditions by increasing open green spaces as well as developing adaptability and flexibility capacities for the area of El-warak towards climate change. In addition to raising awareness of the residents of Elwarak district about how to use sources of renewable clean energy that reduce pollution and save huge costs that are paid for electricity bills, as well as contributing in generating income for the State through transferring surplus electricity produced from solar power panels to the governmental electricity grid.

Partners

“COSPE” NGO implemented the project through a grant presented by the European Union and the German Government.

The project is conducted in partnership with Ommi Association for Rights and Development, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, Giza Governorate, officials of El-warak District, and residents of El-warak district to promote for community participation

Community Participation Teachers Trainings

Teachers Trainings Trainings were held for teachers to provide them with information and knowledge on environmental issues and renewable energy

The trainings targeted 60 teachers from the following schools: Abdullah bin Rawaha Preparatory school for Girls, El-Salam Primary School, El-warak Preparatory School for Boys and El-Wafa Preparatory School for Girls.

Outputs of trainings held for teachers

The teachers are able to develop educational curricula and present it in an interesting way including environmental topics and renewable energy.

Community Participation Children Capactity Building

Holding training for the students on the skills of activating environmental information in public life at El-warak Preparatory School for Boys and El-salam Preparatory School for Girls, in addition to gaining support for environmental issues and climate change through targeting children and young people.

Holding training for students on recycling environmental waste and converting it into artistic shapes and stationery that can be used again.

The students of El-warak district schools participated in cleaning the streets and planting the balconies, as well as painting the sidewalks of the streets. These efforts add aesthetic shape and enhance the idea of community e n g a g e m e n t .

For Green Communities Paying attention to green spaces that are a source of joy and pleasure and contribute to reducing pollution, as well as using agricultural products planted by modern methods, such as planting of water pipes that do not need agricultural soil, as a source for increasing income The green spaces include the following: El Wafa Preparatory School for Boys which was used as a training center for urban agriculture.
