A b o u t When I was 7 years old, and while other kids were still playing with Lego bricks, I broke out my first cement bag in my grandparents’ backyard and tried to figure out the right mix to build a house for the rabbits they had. Although the rabbit house ended up being roofless, I carried the experience I learned from that project to my next one, a set of stairs with a ramp for my bike. Maybe none of these projects have a real value in real world, but my passion for buildings is worthwhile, and unstoppable. Since that young age, I knew I was going to be an architect and I have carried that passion with me through “thick and thin” over 9 years, 3 different countries, and 5 campuses. As I am graduating in May, I am excitedly looking for the right opportunity in the right place where I can learn and grow as an architect, a colleague, and a team player to carry out my passion to real life projects.

Mixed use NYC, NY Timber in the City Contest Glulam+CLT Junior year Spring 2016 Jason Griffiths
The main idea is bringing nature and timber to New York City in the most symbolic way, Trees. The way the trees assimilate into the city is through a unique suspended structural system. 1. Black Walnut glulam pillars: Support the roof structure. It reflects the way a trunk works in a tree. 2. Roof structure: supported by the glulam pillars and support Cladding and the whole structure that hangs from it. The ribs work the same way branches do. 3. Ribs and Cables: suspend the structure to the roof 4. Cladding: cladding panels represent leaves on a tree
