CHAPTER I. The Pool of Tears Alice had been wandering downtown when she came across a Cheshire cat who was walking to a nearby bus. The cat was staunch but gave a slight grin when it saw Alice. ‘Excuse me Cheshire Puss,’ She said, rather quietly, as she did not quite know whether or not the cat would be interested in her questions, she went on. ‘Would you tell me, which way you are heading from here?’ “I’m heading to work” replied the cat. ‘…and, and what do you think of downtown then?’ said Alice. In an instance the cat folded his arms and began: “How doth the city wonderer? Improve his day to day, And walk around the streets at night with something more to say! How tiresome he seems to be, O’ how his vein’s run blue Though if he only stopped to think, He'd have much more to do.”
!This only made Alice more confused than when she started, however she assumed the cat was talking about his own life and the more she thought about the last sentence (though if he only stopped to think, he'd have much more to do.)
!The more sense it began to make, she wished she gave herself more time to stop and think. !! !! ! !
CHAPTER II. The Downtown Rabbit-Hole Alice continued searching for answers when suddenly two white rabbits scurried past her. Alice thought nothing of it, until she heard one of the rabbits talking to itself.
!
“Im late, lm late, For a non-important date, No time to stop and take a break, Im late, Im late, Im late.”
!
The second rabbit was dressed in a crisp black suit with a white shirt and red tie; he took one puff of his cigarette before anxiously discarding it. “How peculiar!” cried Alice, she couldn’t quite understand why both the rabbits seemed to be in such a rush. Curiosity took the better of her, she ran across the path after the second rabbit, and just witnessed it sprinting up the stairs of the nearby office building.

CHAPTER III. The Queen of Hearts Alice was heading towards the train station when she noticed a red umbrella with matching pursed lips belonging to a rather prude lady. She glared at Alice as she tried to grab her attention.
! ‘May I ask you a question’ Alice said, !
The lady stopped briefly before screaming, ‘Charles! Charles, are you listening, this girl wants to ask you a question, I don’t have time for this!’
!
She chucked him her red umbrella and Prada handbag. The man, scrambled to grab her belongings. ‘Sorry we have to catch a cab, she’s late for brunch’ and before Alice had a chance to say goodbye, the lady was yet again calling out orders.
!
Alice half expected him to respond with, ’Yes, your Majesty’ but instead he rushed off to open the taxi door.
!
How curious, Alice thought to herself, what would a rude lady with manners like that do with her day?

CHAPER IV. A Mad Tea-Party Alice was beginning to think that she had just about met every creature possible in downtown Auckland. She was heading back to her car when she spotted a hatter, a mad hatter. He was tall with long grey plaits and a prominent moko on his face, he carried a walking stick and wore a long black coat and hat.
!
‘Hello, do you have a minute free’ asked Alice. ‘Of course my dear, you look stunning in your outfit by the way’ He replied.
!
He had an aura about him, it made Alice feel uneasy as if in a trance of some sort. She continued with her questions,
!
‘…and what do you believe is special about downtown’ said Alice.
!
The Hatter started with a quote, “I am the water, the water is me. I am the land and I am the sea.” He paused for a minute before continuing,
!
“We have a spiritual connection to everything, all this land here is reclaimed, it used to be rivers running down from K road to Grey Lynn. The courthouses at the back, they used to be an old Marae. We used to park our waka on all this land here, it was a great food basket the Manukan so the spiritual essence of what I’v said, it feeds us, I have sprung from the land. Keep those things in mind when thinking about this.”
!
Alice felt her mind wondering, he had answered many of her questions, but posed even more.
CHAPER V. Advice from a Caterpillar (Lewis Carroll) The Caterpillar and Alice looked at each other for some time in silence: at last the Caterpillar took the hookah out of its mouth, and addressed her in a languid, sleepy voice.
! 'Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. !
This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, 'I — I hardly know, sir, just at present — at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.’
!
'What do you mean by that?' said the Caterpillar sternly. 'Explain yourself!’
!
'I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, sir' said Alice, 'because I'm not myself, you see.’
! 'I don't see,' said the Caterpillar. !
'I'm afraid I can't put it more clearly,' Alice replied very politely, 'for I can't understand it myself to begin with; and being so many different sizes in a day is very confusing.’
!
'It isn't,' said the Caterpillar.

CHAPER VI. Tweedledee and Tweedledum Inside the shopping centre Alice noticed two elderly ladies, they dressed similar and their faces looked identical both with a great deal of makeup on, grey hair, pinned back elegantly and drenched in pearls.
!
‘Forgive me for interrupting’ Alice began, ‘Do you come here often?’ The ladies giggled ‘Oh, no dear”’ They said at precisely the same time.
!
“We would never usually come to a place like this” “May I ask what you are doing here then?’ Said Alice. “There just isn’t really another café close enough” They said, while continuing to giggle. “I See” Said Alice as the two ladies returned to drinking their bowls of cold cappuccino at the Hollywood Bakery Espresso.
