Hello Everyone I would like to start off by saying both sorry and thank you to Naila at Lavish Beauty London. Firstly thank you for supplying the photo for the front cover last month. I am sure you all agree it was a stunning cover, and secondly a sincere apology for not publishing a credit for the photo. (Please check out her advert on page 18). Did you know I can see into the future? I have seen a fantastic couple of months coming for Kingston, and as there is so much going on I thought the best way of keeping you all up to date would be with a FREE centre page pull out. Just pull out the middle section of your Omni Local and you can pop in on your fridge or pin board so you don’t miss any of the great events happening all over Kingston. I really have to take my hat off to the guys at the IYAF! Over 300 events, in 15 venues and just 18 days to see them all…..What a tremendous effort they have made. As if I haven’t packed in enough info and events into this month’s edition, I have launched a new section - Local History! (Thanks to Michael Seigel of Kingston Tour Guides). I really don’t think everyone knows how much history there is in our wonderful town. Please make sure you check it out. We are going to take a bit of a break for the summer period, and our next issue will be in September. I am not actually going off anywhere, but just taking some time to look at improving the magazine. The September issue is going to be all about back to school, and learning something new. So look out for the new and improved issue then. I am having a little party to celebrate the first Official full year of Omni Local. You are invited to join me, on July 5th. I have booked a F1 simulator and a sensational local up and coming band to play the night out. If you would like to join me, just send an email and I’ll make sure you get in. So until then, may I wish you all a great summer, enjoy all the festivals laid on. Please visit the excellent things we have on right here in Kingston, not forgetting to cheer me on at the dragon boat race! And please stay safe.

COMMUNITY SECTION
My name is Sue and I have volunteered for Kingston Bereavement Service for 13 years initially coming for a counselling placement whilst studying at Morden College. KBS is an independent local charity established in 1988 providing one-to-one and group bereavement counselling and support to adults, children and families who live, work or study in the Borough, and who are having difficulty coping or adjusting to the loss of someone close to them. I very soon realised that I wanted to devote all my volunteering time to this remarkable charity that, at this time, supported adults to cope with the death of someone close. We all experience loss in our lives at some point, and I was overwhelmed at how the counselling process enabled the clients to manage the impact of the death of someone close (often a child, parent or partner) in their lives, and to look forward to the future with a real sense of hope. Initially I was an adult bereavement counsellor, and worked with adults for seven years. It became apparent that there was a great need in the Borough for a children’s service. The Saying Goodbye Project was established in 2007 and I volunteered to become a child bereavement counsellor. Children are often the ‘forgotten mourners’, but the death of someone close brings major changes and challenges into their lives and can be devastating. I undertook specialist in-house training and studied for a diploma in Childhood Bereavement in conjunction with St Christopher’s Hospice and Middlesex University. The personal reward for me to see the positive change in a child having had the opportunity to explore their feelings and fears is hard to describe in words. Suffice to say, I have great passion for the work, and remain committed 6 years on. To date the SGP has supported over 300 children and young people. As well as volunteering as a counsellor, for 9 of my years at KBS I was a trustee. Now, I am also part of KBS Community Fund Raising Committee. At KBS, our volunteer counsellors are key to providing an outstanding and professional service and are specially trained in bereavement counselling, they are from diverse backgrounds to meet local needs. We offer advice and information to parents and carers, and we work with a wide range of professional groups working with children and adults, delivering bespoke training and offering a consultancy and advice service.
This month’s Community Person: Sue Marshall - Children and Young
People’s Bereavement Counsellor
Each year approximately 200 people are supported through counselling and a further 100 through our other services. We work hard at KBS to obtain large and small grants from wherever we can. We have some funding from RBK, Kingston GP’s and community fund raising. We are grateful for the grants we have previously received but we are still dependant on generous donations from local people and businesses. I would like to thank OMNI-Local for this opportunity to raise awareness about our service and to highlight our need to raise money locally in this celebratory year. We would like to be here for the next 25 years supporting local people. Please see our website www.kingstonbereavementservice. org.uk for more information, and most importantly, how to access support.

After surviving what seemed to be terminal cancer I'm now in training to swim the channel for children's cancer charity Momentum, who helped me a great deal. I’m currently training and fundraising for a Channel Swim with a view to completing the task on September 25th 2013. So this month I’ve been doing a fair amount of training at Hampton Open Air pool, who have been very helpful to me and my training. Their 36m outdoor pool is pretty ideal because longer lengths obviously mean less time spent turning around and kicking off the walls (which you can’t do in the sea). My rst session there was 4.5hrs of constant front crawl in the fast lane, gliding back and forth whilst everyone else seemed to be having a lot more fun bouncing beach balls around, playing catch and dive-bombing into the deep end. I kept myself fuelled the entire time with a combination of jaffa cakes, energy gels and isotonic drink which I’d been keeping in a large bag of food. I’m even starting to pick up a nice tan on my back – my chest however, remains pale, so I’ll probably end up looking like a shark by the end of summer, with a dark back and pale belly. I’ve been training in Brighton with Fiona Southwell who is an open water swimming coach who has taken me on coaching me up for my swim in September – she’s very experienced, having swam the channel herself back in 2009. So with the sea temperature nally warming up enough I’m nally doing some long swims at sea (still pretty chilly at around 11oC). Outside of the pool I’ve been keeping up with alternative cardio exercise – some light cycling, a few laps around Richmond Park on the road bike is always pleasant on a nice summer day, trying to avoid my instinct to plough away as hard and as fast as possible if someone goes past me as I’m saving my energy for the pool.

POLICE ADVICE PROTECTING YOUR VALUABLES During the busy and fun times in Kingston, incidents of mugging and pickpocketing are still quite low. Knowing how and where criminals who commit these crimes operate will help you avoid falling victim to them no matter how small the risk. Thieves frequently operate: • at tube stations • at cash machines • in car parks • around bus stations • in overcrowded areas, especially at rush hour. Be aware and keep your possessions safe: • Never leave your bags or other valuables unattended in public places. • Be discreet with your belongings; displaying expensive jewellery or electronic devices, like mobile phones or cameras, could attract unwanted attention. • Don’t make your mobile phone a moving target. Don’t tempt mobile phone thieves, be aware when making a call. Reduce the risk of mobile phone theft by following these simple tips: • Don’t leave your phone on tables in pubs or restaurants. When you leave a train or tube station don’t use your phone immediately, leave it a while. • Don’t walk and text at the same time, you will be less aware of what is happening around you. • Keep calls in public places as brief as
9
possible, the longer you talk, the more likely you are to be spotted by a potential thief. Looks good enough to grab Be aware of chain-snatch thieves and keep your jewellery out of sight. Snatch robberies can involve violence or theft. The chance that this will ever happen to you is quite small, but you should be aware of what you can do to keep yourself and your property safe: • Make sure your jewellery is not visible. • Plan your journey in advance. • Avoid dark or deserted areas late at night. • Be aware of your surroundings and stay alert to what’s going on around you. How to get your personal items security marked There are several ways you can mark you property to help protect your personal items further. If you have any information on stolen goods, report it to the police by calling 101. If it is an emergency dial 999. This page was sponsored by:

NATALIE CYCLES CUBA
Hi Folks It’s nearly time just 110 days until I get on my bike and cycle 400km around Cuba. Have I been practising? Sort of….Last weekend I joined 40,000 others to cycle London to Brighton and even managed to drag my partner with me so that he could enjoy the fun!! The jury are still out on that one, but at least he did it!!! The journey took us 10 hours, yes I know that that does seem a long time but John had never cycled this far before and my other friend, who is also cycling Cuba, was having difficulties with her new prosthetic left leg. I was so proud of both of them. My PT sessions are definitely working, I managed to cycle up the Ditchling Beacon without stopping and only 7 professional type riders passed me, which has really boosted my confidence. I would like to take a minute to thank Victor (www.gym-junkiept.co.uk) for those wonderful squats and lunges, I have enjoyed every painful minute. So 110 days to go and I really need a little more practice, so in just 3 weeks I am joining other members of “Cycle Cuba” in the Cotswolds for 2 back to back days of cycling as a large group. I am really looking forward to meeting like minded people.
I have had many people ask me about how they can get involved and take up a challenge! If you are interested in taking part in any of the events I have spoken about please visit – http://www.actionforcharity.co.uk/ or contact them direct.
As you know by know I am raising money for 3 cancer related charities. 1. Breast Cancer Care 2. Ovarian Cancer Action 3. Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. I have managed to raise the minimum requirement for the ride but would still like your help in raising as much as possible for these very worthwhile causes. Here are two very easy ways that you can donate go to: www.justgiving.com/nataliecyclescuba or text Cuba69 £5 to 70070 11

Have you ever wondered? Kingston and the Saxons? Have you ever wondered why the new car park in Kingston is called ‘Seven Kings’ and why ‘Saxon Road’ is opposite? Have you looked at the mural of the Saxon kings outside BHS in Eden Street or gone to see the Coronation Stone by the Guildhall? How much do you know of Kingston’s exciting history which goes back to Saxon times? The first recorded mention of Kingston dates back to 838, when King Egbert of Wessex held a great council of nobles and bishops to discuss the growing problems with the Danes. Kingston was not yet a town as such but the centre of a royal estate or ‘tun’ – hence the name ‘King’s Tun’. The Thames marked the border between the Saxon kingdoms of Wessex and Mercia, and soon afterwards the town developed as an important trading and strategic post.
King Egbert is little known in history but his grandson was the famous Alfred the Great, renowned for his efforts against the invading Danes. It was Alfred’s son, Edward the Elder, who is thought to have been the first king crowned here in Kingston around 902, and, if you visit All Saints Church you will see a stone plaque commemorating the Queen’s visit in 2002, her Golden Jubilee year, 1100 years after Edward’s coronation. The Queen’s great-grandfather, Edward VII, was crowned 13
HISTORY SECTION in 1902, and in Kingston certainly the 1000 years since that other Edward’s coronation was duly noted. The tradition, going back at least to Victorian times, suggests that all of Edward the Elder’s six successors (well-depicted on the mural outside BHS put up in 1985) were crowned here in Kingston. There is historical evidence to support two of the seven being crowned here, Athelstan and Ethelred the Unready, and as for the others we can only surmise!
More of Kingston’s history will appear each month in Omni Local, but, if you would like to discover more as you walk around our town, why not join one of our tours, led by specially trained volunteers? These meet in the market place outside the church gates at 2.30pm every Sunday in summer and on every first Sunday of the month from October to March. The charge is £4 per adult - or perhaps you might to arrange a special tour for you and your friends. For further information please ring 0208 399 0160 or 0208 399 7888. And finally … you might like to become a guide yourself! If so, we are running a course next year starting on 16 January; for further details please look at our website www. kingstontourguides.org.uk

The Summer Dining Room – Your outside space Summer should now be finally here! This now gives us a chance to get the most from our outside spaces. Treat it as you would a scruffy dining room. After all, would you feel comfortable if others came to eat there? Is this the impression you want to give to your guests? If you are looking to sell your house during the summer, not only will you be able to entertain, but having a great outdoor space may even assist in a sale. So follow these simple tasks and you will have an outside space Gordon Ramsay would be happy to sit in.
HOME SECTION
Step 1 – Clear everything out the way. Remove any obstacles! Get the power washer out (if applicable). Give everything a real blasting down. This is really effective as you will see immediate results. Step 2 – What needs repairing? Once you have blasted everything, is it time to get out the sander, and re-varnish everything? Consider wood stain first, and then seal or varnish. Just be careful you are using the right products and coating. Anything wooden that is kept outside should have an oil-based finish or a good weather-proof varnish. This takes time, but you will be proud of the finished job. Step 3 – Layout Make sure you are making the most of the space you have. Depending on the size and what furniture you have, you can make the area look bigger. Consider what you want where and when and if you are inviting people around as well. Would the table be better off against the wall? If you have space, try and make all the furniture facing so your guests to encourage conversation. Step 4 – Refresh Fabrics and Colours If you are doing the work, then spend some of the savings on new cushions, mattresses for the sun lounger. Buy some nice table covers or even throws. If you have a small garden, consider buying some new plants. This may be a little more work, but looking at newly planted foliage is much better than looking at the dead ones from the winter. 15
Step 5 – After dark If you are like me and love to sit in the garden drinking wine, putting the world to rights and watching the sun go down, this often carries on until the sun has well and truly gone. For me, I just flick a switch and the garden lights come on. However there are literally hundreds of different options you can have. You can have candles, solar power lights, spotlights or even Chinese lanterns. What you do depends on the size of your outside space. The important thing here is to create an ambience. Using different coloured lights helps this, and I find that scented candles help as well. If you are having a party, you can buy garden lights the re-act to music, and even disco balls. Hanging lights from a tree or the outside walls lights up different areas. You can find many different solutions if you visit a good garden centre. One thing which is on my wish list is a garden bonfire pit or wood burning fire basket, but I will have to wait for my birthday to get it! So enjoy what summer we are offered, and consider yourself at home in your garden.

Choosing trees for your garden This article will focus on tips and advice in selecting small trees for your garden, next month we will look at planting tips. The factors to consider in choosing a suitable tree can be divided into 2 broad categories: 1. the environmental conditions 2. the tree characteristics Environmental Conditions Different trees favour particular environments to enable optimal growth and a healthy full canopy for you to enjoy. Firstly, the soil condition needs to assessed. The ideal soil for most trees needs to be a well balanced mix of clay and sand that drains well but can retain moisture. The soil texture can be changed with the use of organic matter such as composted manure with coarse sand or clay to alter drainage characteristics. Whether the soil is acid or alkaline also determines tree species you can grow; a pH test kit can easily be purchased to assess your soil. For acid soils adding lime can reduce the acidity but will need renewal over the years to ensure the artificial change is maintained. I suggest that in most cases it is best to work with the natural acidity of your garden in choosing a tree. Secondly, you need to look at the shade conditions in selecting a tree; many species thrive in direct sunlight where this position encourages growth and in some cases enhances variegated foliage colours throughout the year. Where trees are grown in shady locations quite often the foliage has less variation and interest for you. If you would like to plant a tree to create a shady area then the tree may need space to develop a breadth rather than height. Armed with your knowledge of soil and light conditions you can now proceed to the garden centre to consider the tree characteristics. Tree Characteristics Trees come in all shapes and sizes as well as deciduous and evergreen forms, so quite often the choices can feel a little daunting. Take your time in selecting your tree, here are some guiding questions to have in mind as you deliberate:1. Do you want the tree as a screen or a specimen feature? Evergreens produce an all year-round screen but a mixed tree screen provides interest through the seasons. Specimen trees can be a real feature in your garden drawing eyes to particular locations.
GARDENING SECTION Supplied By Roger Kerr - RJ Tree Services
2. What shape of tree would you like? The broad range of tree shapes extend from columnar to rounded, conical and weeping forms. It is always a good idea to look at a prospective tree and think ahead to the size it will achieve at maturity. For example, a columnar tree often suits small garden spaces as a focus point, whereas weeping trees often have a wider very ornamental attractive form. 3. Does the tree integrate into the rest of the garden? Some trees integrate better with particular garden layouts which can vary from, for example, a Japanese style to heathers/low level borders or shrubs and fruit tree styles; even a garden laid to mainly lawn should favour particular trees. 4. Do you have specific tree features you favour? These factors include preferences for foliage colours in autumn, spring blossom colours, yielding fruits in late summer or interesting bark colours and textures. These tips should help you in deciding how to select the ideal tree for your garden, we always advise customers to take plenty of time in this decision-making process, planting a tree is a long term commitment.

Shades of Makeup Black mascara defines every eye colour. An eye shadow palette with four shades of brown is a versatile addition for anyone. However, makeup usually varies from person to person. Follow these steps to find your perfect foundation, blush, and lip colour. Foundation 1. Examine the veins on your wrist • Warm undertones give a yellow cast, which means veins appear green • Cool undertones are pink. Consequently, veins appear purple • Neutral undertones result in clear blue veins 2. Choose three foundation shades • One with undertones that match the back of your wrist • One shade darker • One shade lighter The perfect foundation may be found by blending different shades 3. Apply a small amount of the desired foundation to the back of your wrist. Dip a foam cosmetic wedge in the foundation, then sponge it onto your jawbone Tips • Examine the makeup in direct sunlight. Fluorescent light distorts colour • Check each blend of shade in the sun until you achieve the perfect ratio of colour Cheeks and Lips 1. Apply an ice cube to your lips and cheeks for several seconds. Choose lip and cheek colours that closely mirror this natural flush
Tips: • Use a bronzer instead of blush to give the illusion of a tan. A shade that is two shades darker than your foundation will blend naturally • Lips that turn pink when cold look best with a bright fuchsia or hot pink lip colour. Lips that turn red when cold look best with a bold red lipstick
2. Choose shades that will enhance your natural colouring • If a shade name contains an orange object like peach or coral, it will work best for yellow undertones • Names that include purple objects like berries and wines work best for cool blue undertones 3. Work within two shades darker of your natural lip and cheek colour when choosing bright lipsticks and bronzers

The Teddington River Festival The Teddington River Festival is returning to Teddington Lock on Sunday 8th September. Incorporating the annual Teddington RNLI Lifeboat Station Open Day, the festival offers a fantastic day of free family fun upstream and downstream, both on and off the water.
The RNLI relies solely on donations. Their volunteer lifeboat crew members give their time for free, but they need training, wellmaintained equipment, lifeboats and shore facilities. Public support means their crews can save lives quickly, safely and effectively. Visit www.rnli.org for more information or to make a donation.
Spanning both sides of the river there will be live music, boat rides, boats on display, kayaking, skiff racing, craft, charity & community stands, face painting, fairground rides, food & refreshments, water safety road shows, wildlife displays and RNLI stands including souvenirs, books and glassware as well as children’s games and a model boat display more. Visitors will also be able to meet and greet the Teddington Lifeboat crew, climb aboard a lifeboat and watch the crew in action during a series of river rescue demonstrations.
The Festival, which is a charitable community event, is a fantastic platform for its chosen charities including the RNLI and the River Thames Boat Project. The RNLI provides 24hour on call lifeboat search and rescue and a seasonal lifeguard service throughout the UK. With 236 stations and an active fleet of 330 lifeboats the RNLI rescues around 22 people per day. The Teddington Lifeboat Station is one of 4 stations along the Thames which collectively launched their lifeboats 884 times during 2012 rescuing 270 people. Teddington was ranked the 21st busiest station in the UK for the year. 29
The River Thames Boat Project gives people the chance to access the River Thames, to discover this fascinating river, and to learn more about its environment. With its specially adapted community barge, the Thames Venturer, the RTBP provides day and residential cruises for people of all ages and abilities from its berth in Kingston as well as a floating classroom that is used regularly by local schools. They regularly run programmes for people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and older people and respite trips for young carers. To find out more about the River Thames Boat Project or to support the work they do please visit www.thamesboatproject.org or call 020 8940 3509. On At The Cinema
(Scan the QR Codes to see the trailers)
Red 2 I loved this film the first time out. This summer there really isn’t much going on at the cinemas so this is a great film to fill the space if you are bored and Red 2 offers humour and action for all the family. It’s also full to the brim with a huge cast including – Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Anthony Hopkins and David Thewlis. This time the team of retired black-op CIA agents reunite to take on a worldwide operation to find a missing portable nuclear device which has next generation technology. If the weapon falls into the wrong hands the world could end. This sounds challenging enough, but if you had seen the first one, it’s not so simple! To win the day they need to fight off an army of ferocious terrorists and assassins. Thrown into the mix are government officials who want the device for themselves, and being out- gunned and out-manned doesn’t help their situation. Chasing the bad guys and searching for the weapon they crash through Paris, London and Moscow. The only weapon they can actually rely on is the old school training, their wits and their team work to save the world.
Out now on DVD
Identity Thief
Carrying on with humour this month, I thought I would let you know about this one. I personally didn’t get to see this at the cinema, but I am going to make sure I rent this on DVD. You will recognise the leading cast - Jason Bateman from Horrible Bosses and Melissa McCarthy from Bridesmaids. The storyline is something we have all heard of and the title gives away the story line. But basically an ordinary guy has his identity stolen, and is facing losing everything as someone half way across the country is using his identity to have a spend-free lifestyle. Driven crazy he takes extreme action as he sets out to clear his name. With nothing to lose, he has a week to track down the big spender using his name before he is financially ruined. His plan is to attempt to bribe, coax and trick the con-artist 2,000 miles to Denver, but he will soon realise just how difficult it can be to clear your name and it is even harder when the con-artist is a woman. 35

DIY SECTION
Painting Your Wooden Windows If you are planning to do some refurbishment to the outside of your home, then painting the wooden frames to the windows really does improve the look to the outside of your house. Follow these steps to ensure proper conditioning of the wood. In doing so, the wood will accept the paint and will not peel over time. Also, these steps detail the best way to cover and clean adjacent surfaces for a professional looking finish.
Before
1. Wash the wood windows using a pressure washer. Before proceeding, allow the wood to dry. 2. Use a putty knife to scrape any peeling paint. 3. Use sandpaper to sand down rough areas of the wood window. Do not sand against the grain; this may damage the wood.
After
4. Wipe away dust using a tack cloth. 5. If painting from inside, protect flooring beneath the wood window by covering it with a fabric drop cloth. 6. Cover surfaces adjacent to the wood window with painter’s tape. 7. Use a 2-inch latex paintbrush to apply a thin coat of latex bonding primer to the wood. Over-applying may lead to runs and cause the window to stick shut. 8. Allow the primer to dry for minimally two hours. Open and close the window every 30 minutes during this period. 9. Use water to wash the paintbrush. 10. Repeat steps 7-8. However, apply two coats of latex paint to the wood window instead of a thin coat of latex bonding primer.
Tips • Do not paint over raw wood without priming it first, or the finish will peel.
11. Allow the finish to dry for four hours minimum. Use a razor blade to scrape dried paint or primer from the window glass.
• Do not use ordinary rags in place of a tack cloth. This may leave dust that can impede with adhesion.
12. Use a damp rag with mineral spirits to wipe any bits of primer or paint from the glass.
• Do not use plastic drop cloths instead of fabric ones. Paint tends to pool on these, which can lead to mess. 37

OmniLocal - Kingston Upon Thames July 2013 Dear Omni Local
LOCAL TRADES SECTION
What a great level of service! We recently used one of your companies who advertise in your magazine. I have wanted a new front door for years. What with one thing or another; it took me a very long time to getting around to actually getting the job done. It was actually leafing through the edition of Omni Local Kingston that had just dropped through the letterbox and seeing the ad for London and Local that prompted my call to action. As my mother always taught me, I did the ‘sensible’ thing and got three quotes for the job – value for money and service level was what I was looking for. London and Local got the job as they offered both. The quote arrived, hand delivered, within a day. When Johnny said he would call he did, he offered alternative ideas yet did not apply pressure in doing so. He arranged a weekend installation – at no extra cost – because I couldn’t get time off work. His fitter was polite, industrious and tidy. The quality of the finished product is superb. And then a few days after the installation he hand delivered ‘before and after’ photos! I would highly recommend your readers to use the businesses who advertise as they are local, and you get an excellent service. Many thanks – M. KT1

FACT
Advertising in Omni Local could raise awareness of YOUR business by up to 70% Firstly, before we point out why you would want to advertise with us, you need to know why you would advertise at all in these difficult times. Advertising can be its own “science” within building a successful business. The main reasons why you need to advertise are simple –
Advertising connects everyone
1. You need to stay in touch with your customers. 2. You need to be consistent, and appeal to new and existing customers. 3. When you are not advertising, your competitors will. When you can’t be found your competitors will. 4. Competition in these times is very fierce; if you are not constantly in people’s minds you will soon be forgotten. Once this happens you will have to start all over again. Hard times always come and go, but when you don’t advertise you are easily forgotten or replaced. Keeping up your company profile and image is vital when experiencing the hard times. Presence of your company at all times is a must!! Using a new and unique concept of advertising raises your business profile and will bring you new customers; it will endorse your existing clients, and will result in new business. There are numerous reasons why Omni Local should be a key player in your company’s marketing strategy.

Why do I need a database? (CRM) 1. All your customer data in one place! Do you really want to collect hundreds of business cards and juggle them? Or, would it be best to keep all that data in one place - knowing all about your customers, prospects and suppliers - when and where you met them, their business size, location and type. 2. A good database is much more than a sales prospecting system. See your customer history on a page. A good database prompts you when talking with customers on the phone, helps plan deadlines and ensures you respond to customers on the time agreed. 3. Easy campaigns – you won’t need to spend hours mailing - one click and mail a message to all or selected groupings? 4. Quoting, invoicing, project and time management campaigns and help desk – A system will allow you to record everything to do with customers and suppliers. 5. Before choosing a database – See a demonstration before you buy it. Don’t be swayed by an endless list of features, most of which you may never use.
