LOCAL BUSINESS
This section is all about local business owners who support Omni Local. This month I am talking to talented photographer, (and Omni cover provider) Rossella Pagano of Klicksmart Photography!
Supplied by: Rossella Pagano Klicksmart Photography
Q1: Hi Rossella, could you please give our readers a little information about Klicksmart? A1: Klicksmart Photography is a photography services business based in Surrey. I had been an amateur photographer for a while, when one day I realised that photography meant something more for me. So I started a few professional courses, before setting up the business just over a year ago. Q2: What interested you most about this line of work originally? A2: Creativity: I apply creativity to most types of photography that I am pursuing – and Connection: I observe, establish a connection with people and then create the image. In terms of engagements and weddings, I adore documentary photography – so unplanned! I get really good, meaningful and powerful images. For couples and portraits, I apply a technique that enables people to express themselves, their emotions and to evoke feelings during the photoshoot, so that I can capture their most natural and spontaneous expressions.
Q5: Do you currently have any special offers on at the moment?
Q3: You’ve provided many beautiful works for Omni Local magazine, what other types of clientele do you provide services for?
Q6: Do you have any advice for readers who are looking to get into a similar profession?
A5: All promotions are on the website. I do have a promotion for Mother’s Day, but there will also be a special offer in March for pets photography. As we are approaching the wedding season, I offer a variety of packages for weddings. I am currently looking to fill in a couple of dates in August/September this year and taking bookings for 2017. I also offer an exclusive discount for Omni readers. Simply get in touch and quote OMNIPHOTO40.
A3: My usual clients are couples and families. To me, what is important is that my clients have fun in any photo shoot, whether it is an engagement or a family portrait – Getting ‘that expression’ makes 90% of the photograph. Equally important is that clients are left with a memorable experience and long-lasting memories. Q4: What can our readers expect when they visit your online galleries? A4: Most of the online galleries are passworded areas dedicated to clients. The Services pages have a few images but it is little in comparison with the portfolio I can show to potential clients.
A6: It is hard work, so make sure you love what you do. Q7: Excellent! What is the best way for people to get in touch with you? A7: The contact details are on my website www.klicksmartphotography.com and private messages can be sent via Twitter or Facebook. I am interested in reaching out to singers, dancers, gardeners, etc, to potentially offer something special to couples, whatever their age or occasion. To find out more about Klicksmart Photography and what Rosella has to offer, please refer to the advert opposite, or visit the website.

CARE IN THE COMMUNITY
THIS MONTH’S Supplied by: Leanna Carl - Omni Local CHARITY
Don’t Let your Elders Feel Isolated As I’m sure we all know, it’s very easy to feel lonely at times. The possibility of feeling isolated and left out is a lot higher for those who live on their own. Make sure you don’t forget about those who are spending holidays alone and who see the weekend as just another quiet day indoors to themselves. It’s important to reach out to your elders, distant friends and even work colleagues when

The simple act of paying them a visit every now and then and catching up could really make a difference. If you’d like to do something a little more active than chatting over a cup of coffee, why not bring them with you to walk the dog, or play some board games together? A little exercise from a walk around the park could do you both some good and with a little added conversation it can be really enjoyable.

COMMUNITY PERSON
Councillor Roy Arora
Supplied by: Cllr Roy Arora
I am extremely proud of being Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. Not many people know this, but Kingston is the birthplace of England. It is where England began! It is the most senior borough in the UK and only 1 of 4 Royal Boroughs. As residents of RBK, we should all be very proud of this fact. I have often been asked why I wanted to be Mayor. For me, it’s a particularly fine opportunity to serve our community and to influence positive changes. The role of Mayor is apolitical and a very demanding one. It involves connecting with people and working with the community outside of politics.
450 special events. Each one has been unique in it’s own right - schools, churches, businesses, charities, clubs and societies, heritage centres, citizenship ceremonies, community events and fundraisers. Repeatedly, we are humbled by people’s generosity and good will towards others. I think it comes from a spirit to serve. It also demonstrates a sense of inclusion and brings about good will, alliances and friendships, which I hope will be long lasting.
We have set ourselves three priorities this year. These stem from personal values of tolerance, charity and growth: 1. Community Integration - We stand for inclusion and community cohesion, which is an essential part of a thriving and harmonious society. 2. Fundraising for the Mayor’s Charitable Trust (Kingston Hospital Dementia Appeal) - It is our duty to look after the elderly, who deserve to have excellent Dementia care.
This week, I was delighted to appoint Councillor Geoff Austin as my new Deputy Mayor, and Mrs Sheila Austin, as Deputy Mayoress. We look forward to working together.
3. Investing in Kingston - We want Kingston to thrive and flourish. We want to bring creativity, business and enterprise into our wonderful borough. In a survey last year, Kingston ranked ‘2nd happiest place to live in London’ (Richmond ranked 1st – we think that’s because they have such lovely neighbours!).
We are overwhelmed by the support, love and blessings from residents, organisations and volunteers within our borough - for this we are truly thankful, grateful and appreciative. We hope to continue our service and do Kingston proud. Cllr Roy Sanjeev Arora

POLICE ADVICE
Hello Readers!
Supplied by: Alison McWinnie - MET Police
Rate Your PC has come to Kingston!! Rate Your PC (RYPC) is a card which is handed out to victims of crime along with the victim care card; victims then log on to an internet survey comprising of 15 questions and are asked to rate the level of service they have received from the attending Police Officer on a scale of 1 to 5. The feedback obtained through this scheme will be used to continually provide an even better possible service to victims of crime. Kingston Police are committed to supporting victims and witnesses of crime; however we accept that sometimes you may need more support than we can offer. Therefore, when you report a crime to us we will ask you if you would like your details to be passed to an independent charity called Victim Support. They help anyone affected by crime – not only victims and witnesses, but their friends, family and other people caught up in the aftermath of a crime. The help they give includes emotional support, information and practical help either by phone or face-toface, in a location where you feel safe. LOCAL HISTORY
The History of Lovekyn Chapel, Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames
Supplied by: Kingston Grammar School
Chantry chapels were private and not open to anyone besides the founder. The founder paid for it to be built and for one or two full time priests, whose principal work was to hold masses and say prayers for the founder’s family. The local parish disliked chantry chapels, as it meant founders would spend money on their own chapel, rather than the parish church! Chantry chapels were rare to find. Specific permission to build one had to be obtained from the King, so most were founded and built by members of the nobility. Edward Lovekyn was, however, a caterer from Kingston, who, in 1299, provided a feast for Edward I when he married Margaret of France. It appears that the King died 9 years later without paying the bill, owing Lovekyn 1000 marks (£50,000 today!). Lovekyn wanted a chapel where prayers could be said for his soul. After his death, the unpaid bill was used as an excuse to approach the new King, Edward II, for permission. He received a royal license and built the chapel in 1309, endowing it with enough money to pay for a chaplain.
Kingston Grammar School, following a petition to Queen Elizabeth I. Fourteen years after the end of its life as a chapel, the Queen decided it should be the home of her grammar school. Present day
Edward Lovekyn died in 1310 and his son John took ownership of the chapel, with two personal chaplains. They had free board, 40 shillings a year, plus a new robe each Christmas! But John laid down strict rules too, stating that as ministers of God they must “Abstain from gluttony or drunkenness, since drunkenness as well induces want of mind, as provokes the incentive of lust.”! The chantry has a fascinating history, with a priest in residence until 1547, by which time Henry VIII had disbanded Catholic monasteries, chantries, priories, convents and friaries in England, Wales and Ireland, and taken their assets/income. The little chapel of course, had been deconsecrated.
The 14th Century Lovekyn Chapel still belongs to Kingston Grammar School and is used by the community as well as the School for concerts & lectures. No longer used for religious ceremonies, the chapel is one of the most popular venues in the borough for civil ceremonies, partnerships and vow renewals. For more information call the school’s Wedding Coordinator on 020 8546 5875. Kingston Grammar School is proud to be the custodian of such a beautiful and valuable historic asset. We are in the planning stages of restoration work in order to preserve it for the benefit of our pupils and the wider community – For more information, or to support our work, please email: foundation@ kgs.org.uk The full story of The Lovekyn Chapel ‘Chantry Chapel to Royal Grammar School – the history of Kingston Grammar School 1299 – 1999’ by David Ward and Gordon Evans is available to purchase from the School.

GARDENING
Spring Gardening This time of year can be a great time to get back in the garden, if you haven’t done so already. Hopefully those Winter chills and (usually false) snow warnings are out of the way, and there is still a chance of those April showers coming in, aiding the growth of your garden.
Supplied by: Leanna Carl - Omni Local
Before things start to heat up again this Summer, take some time to pull out the rubber gloves, boots and gardening tools and dedicate a weekend or cool evening to get your hands dirty. Below are some things you can start to work on. Pruning Roses Following a chilly Winter and the occasional frosting, your roses could use a little TLC. If you’re tending to older roses, prune them after they’ve bloomed. Tidy up the Borders around your Garden Check for any litter or debris first, clearing away any dead leaves (these can be stored for making your own compost). Weed and mulch with compost or manure where applicable, as this will really give you a head start for the year. Start Mowing Regularly No doubt, it has been a while since you took your mower to that wet grass, and things are starting to look a little jungle-esque. Start up a regular mowing regime, applying lawn feed as you do. Your garden will feel so much more inviting when healthy and trimmed. Tie your Trees Trees such as Conifers can lose their shape during harsher weather. They can be pulled back into shape by wrapping them in netting, which will support 13
branches and allow for healthy growth. Do some Planting You can start planting new roses, putting in new shrubs or trees, as well as perennials. Why not see what’s in season at your local garden centre? If you’re not one to spend too much time in the garden, why not ask a professional about care and upkeep as well? Feeding Time! Now is a good time to feed any shrubs, hedges or specimen trees in your garden. Fruit trees need plenty of potassium to thrive - some also need a healthy dose of nitrogen, such as apple and pear trees. Don’t feel too rushed into things like seed-sowing, and setting up Summer bedding plants, as you never know where the weather is going. Setting your garden up for some serious planting later will really make life easier when it gets warmer.

LEARNING
You’re half way through the school year. But do you really know how your child is doing?
Supplied by: Celia Osbourne NumberWorks’n’Words
Struggling with homework blues? Does your son pull a long face and struggle with maths homework? Does your daughter do her English, but quite frankly you think it could be better? And how’s the creative writing, comprehension, fractions, word problems and algebra? Do spelling and table tests incite fear into your child? And do you really have a clear idea of how your child is doing, whether they’re struggling or if they could be doing better? As a parent, it’s not always easy to know how our kids are doing and although you can of course ask them, generally you only get a chipper ‘fine’ or a grunt in reply! Frustrated by short parent consultations? This is the time of year when most of us get a chance to speak to our child’s teachers, but even then we often don’t feel we learn much. As an ex primary school teacher, I know only too well that 12 minutes really only lets you scratch the surface. And as a teacher, I was happy if a child just kept up with the class and performed ‘in line with expectations’. I didn’t have a parent’s desires and aspirations for their child. Get an independent view and a better idea If you have that sneaking suspicion that your child could be doing better, why not pop into NumberWorks’nWords for an independent view? Your child can have a free assessment in both maths and English and a chance to have a go at some of the structured learning activities that we provide. As an experienced teacher, I’ll be honest about how I think your child is 15
doing. I can observe them to see whether I think there are gaps in their learning that are holding them back or whether I think they could be racing ahead to achieve more. If I feel we can help at them NumberWorks’nWords with our unique structured learning programmes, I can discuss what we could do to support them in their learning. And if they are doing just fine, I’ll tell you that too. And the really good news Children that learn with us, love it! No groaning or mumbling. No tears and tantrums. They just enjoy learning. And if that sounds like a breath of fresh air, get in touch.

Re-Painting Window Frames
Supplied by: Leanna Carl - Omni Local
Painting the wooden frames around any windows of your home will really improve the look from outside of your house. If you are worried about damaging the wood, or making any messy errors, this method is sure to help you out. Follow our step-by-step instructions to ensure a quality and long lasting finish. What You’ll Need: Putty Knife Microfibre Cloth or Rag Sandpaper Large Cloth or Newspapers Paintbrushes Primer Paint
8. Allow the primer to dry for at least two hours. Open and close the window every 30 minutes during this time.
Masking Tape White Spirit
9. Wash the paintbrush under running water.
Razor Blade (not essential) 1. Wash the wooden frames first and allow the wood to dry.
10. Repeat steps 7-8. However, apply two coats of latex paint to the wood window instead of a thin coat of latex bonding primer.
2. Use a putty knife to scrape any peeling paint. 3. Use sandpaper to sand down rough areas of the wood window. Do not sand against the grain, as this may damage the wood. 4. Wipe away any dust using a cloth.
11. Allow the finish to dry for four hours minimum. Use a razor blade to scrape dried paint or primer from the window glass. 12. Use a damp cloth and white spirit to wipe any bits of primer or paint splats from the glass.
5. Protect any flooring beneath the window by covering it with a cloth or newspapers. 6. Protect the window panes adjacent to the wooden frames with masking tape. 7. Use a 2-inch latex paintbrush to apply a thin coat of latex bonding primer to the wood. Over-applying may lead to runs and cause the window to stick shut.
Tips: • Do not paint over raw wood without priming it first, or the finish will peel. • Do not use plastic drop cloths instead of fabric ones. Paint tends to pool on these, which can lead to a huge mess.

HEALTH & FITNESS
Skiing with PhysioExtra
Supplied by: Andrew Sillett - On Sight Media
To most rational people the popularity of skiing is inexplicable: going to all that effort and expense of hauling yourself up the top of a freezing mountain, only to slide down it strapped to a couple of planks. That’s if you don’t spend most of your time on your back: dispirited, numb, watching a four-year-old brat in a kitten-ear ski helmet deftly swerve around your bruised body, spraying you with a face full of ice chips. Then you painfully hobble off the slope in shin-scraping plastic boots to eat overpriced melted cheese, to the accompaniment of Austrian oompah muzak - assuming you can still hold your fork after repeated falls on your thumbs while clutching ski poles. But to its many devotees (about a third of PhysioExtra clients ski), the sport is an exhilarating experience. And at this time of year they are preparing for, or recovering from their big annual trip to the Alps. Despite the popular image of après-ski plaster casts, there has been a big reduction in ski injuries thanks to improved equipment and ski area management. However, PhysioExtra still treats patients returning from the slopes with various injuries at this time of year. One of the best ways to avoid skiing injuries is to prepare for the ski season with a personally tailored physiotherapy programme before you go.
“Before your trip we assess any niggles or old injuries and how to condition your body for an intensive week’s skiing,” says Almashan, whose patients range from children to Olympic athletes. “Whether you’re a complete novice, or an experienced skier, we can improve your endurance, agility, flexibility and strength. Ideally, you should be training with us for about six weeks before you go, to ensure you get most out of your trip and minimise your chances of injury.” As well as ski & snowboard injuries, the studio in Ham offers top quality sports massage to relieve tight or pulled muscles. And if you are unfortunate to need surgery, the team are experts at rehabilitation – so you can go off and do it all again next year! www.physioextra.co.uk
“Twisting and load bearing puts a lot of stress on your muscles and joints,” says Leon Almashan, Managing Director & head physiotherapist at PhysioExtra. “The fitter you are, the less likely you are to be injured, but it can be difficult to motivate yourself to stay in good shape for that one week – especially at this time of year.” His one-to-one specialist pre-ski personal training involves building up core and cardiovascular fitness through cycling, rowing and the cross-trainer, which also strengthens the low back muscles and quadriceps.

March is for Mums!
Supplied by: Leanna Carl - Omni Local
Now that we’ve moved into March and the Winter symptoms are starting to fade away, it’s time to get out and celebrate one of the greatest ladies in your life - your Mother! Location Isn’t Important Whether you’re setting the day aside to take your mum shopping, going for a meal or even just going over to her house to have a good chat - try to make it special by adding a personal touch and really committing. This means planning! Don’t leave everything until the last minute, and if you do - if life gets in the way of planning, don’t phone it in on the day with a five minute flower drop off. Even if you can’t make the actual day, give her a call and tell her that you want to take her out or come and see her on a coming weekend or day off. If she’s anything like my Mum, she’ll probably tell you it’s not a big deal and not to go over the top, especially when you have a lot on. Don’t listen! Of course, you don’t have to blow the bank on it or pull a sicky, just set aside a date to meet
her feel special. Set a budget you can afford and go from there. From a shopping spree to a day at a museum or aquarium, to a lunch date, or even making her a meal at home; you just need time and a little effort. The look on her face at the end of the day and the memories you’ll both be leaving with won’t just make your day, they’ll make your month. A Gift Doesn’t Have to Cost the Earth Of course, it’s great if you can afford to take your Mother to a fancy restaurant, or you can shell out on something really useful or decadent... But that doesn’t mean this is essential. You could put together a great family photo album - all you need is a nice album and some time and patience to gather the photos. You could even use websites like Photobox to print out a bunch of digital photos you’ve got stored on your computer. Or, while you’re looking at sites like this, you could create them a fab photo collage canvas print or put your family photos on a nice mug. A photo album not only says you care, but it also gives you the opportunity to share some memories by flipping through them together. Otherwise, you could try some baking or

time together. Maybe set aside a day each month, or week/fortnight if you can, to get together and have dinner or spend a day out doing something fun. However, try not to get too set in your ways, as you may end up feeling disappointed when one of you can’t make your usual date - but committing to some time together reminds you both of how much you appreciate having them in your life.
making a delicious meal. If you’re not too handy in the kitchen, why not check out our cooking corner section for ideas? Refer to earlier issues of Omni Local online at issuu.com/omnilocal/docs to see more of our recipes. You could make some delicious cupcakes to indulge in over tea or coffee and a long chat, or treat her to a delicious, quality meal you can afford by whipping it up yourself. It’ll be a great way of saying thanks for all those tasty dinners she made you while growing up.
In a previous job, me and my boyfriend were both off work every other Wednesday, and being quite interested in art and spending days out and about, we would dedicate every other Wednesday to heading into London and visiting an art gallery or museum, bringing cameras and getting a nice lunch while we were out. “Gallery Day” was always enjoyable, and affordable, and having a regular day of fun for you and your Mother will keep you both in touch and encourage a more active lifestyle. If you’re not into art and museums, you could always opt for an evening at the movies, or the theatre. Even just going for a meal can be enjoyable, and gives you plenty of chances to catch up.
Make it Last a Little Longer
What’s On
Although it’s all about the big day (6th March 2016), there’s no reason for you to stop spending time with your Mother once it’s over. A great gift for her could even be a promise (that you stick to!) to spend more
We’re sure you’re all looking forward to Easter Sunday at the end of the month! We all like having an excuse to eat lots of chocolate. There is plenty going on, as can be seen in our Local Events section, so enjoy the month of March!

THE MERRY WIVES Directed by Barrie Rutter Tue 22 Mar - Sat 26 Mar Presented by Northern Broadsides, in partnership with the New Vic Theatre, Newcastle-underLyme. Sir John Falstaff is past-his-prime and skint! Vain rogue that he is, he attempts, rather clumsily, to seduce a couple of well-to-do wives… but Mistress Page and Mistress Ford get wise to his plan and scheme to exact revenge with hilarious and unimaginable consequences. If you like your Shakespeare light, funny and wickedly entertaining then look no further. The Merry Wives is bursting at the seams with verbal fun, physical comedy and a bevy of cunningly colourful characters. Northern Broadsides’ distinctive charisma and zest for performance squeezes every last ounce of comedy gold from this affectionately calamitous tale that will tickle your funny bone and poke a jovial finger in the eye of middle England. THE WITCHES A Rose Theatre Kingston and Curve Leicester Production Tue 29 Mar - Sun 10 Apr Roald Dahl’s scariest book is brought to life in a tremendously terrifying treat for the whole family. Witches absolutely detest children. They find them revolting and are planning to wipe them 24
out like weasels! They want to squish them and squiggle them and make them disappear. But one brave young boy and his grandmother have a plan to get rid of the witches for good… if only they can avoid being turned into mice. The Witches contains stupendously scary bits and is recommended for children aged 7+ and their brave grown-ups. ADAM HILLS: CLOWN HEART Sun 13 Mar ‘Hills delivers stand-up so effortlessly brilliant you wonder why some comedians even get out of bed’ - The Guardian Widely referred to as ‘the nicest man in comedy’, Adam Hills has fast become one of the most popular comedians in the UK, with 15 solo shows that have toured internationally. Goosebumps
Supplied by: Leanna Carl played by Dylan Minnette, after he moves from the big city to a small, quiet town. The only upside to come with the big move is when he meets the beautiful girl next door, Hannah (Odeya Rush). However, nothing is as simple as it seems. Soon Zach comes face to face with Hannah’s strange Father (Jack Black), who is then revealed to be R.L. Stine himself!
As a child, everyone’s favourite horror novels were R.L Stine’s Goosebumps books. They’d give us the chills, take us on exciting turns and spook whoever we read them to. Well now the stories are brought to life again in the form of a brand new cinematic soon-to-be favourite! Starring the wild and crazy Jack Black (known for such films as School of Rock, King Kong and Kung Fu Panda), this story follows teenager Zach Cooper,
Soon Zach discovers that the reason Stine comes across as a little strange is that he is being held captive by his own imagination. All the monsters making his stories famous are in fact real creatures trapped within his books. Unfortunately, Zach accidentally lets the monsters loose - leaving them to terrify the town and cause complete chaos. Now it’s up to Stine, Hanna, Zach and Zach’s buddy Champ to get all the monsters back into the books and to get things back to normal.

MOTORING SECTION
Car Safety Tips With all the money spending and maintenance that comes with owning your own vehicle, the last thing you want to worry about is theives. There are certain ways to try to ensure the all round safety of your car, without letting it play on your mind too much. For instance:
Supplied by: Leanna Carl-Omni Local
Always Make Sure you Don’t Leave your Keys Unattended This seems like an obvious suggestion, but it does happen a lot. Don’t let yourself become distracted when you’re quickly popping into a shop or paying for petrol. It can only take seconds of leaving your car unattended for someone to seize an opportunity. Be sure to keep your keys in a safe place while you’re out and about too, you don’t want them to end up in the wrong hands. Imagine you’re having a few drinks with friends and leave your keys on the table whilst you order a drink, or they fall out of your pocket whilst sitting down - your friends may not notice if they’re knocked on the floor or end up down the back of your chair. Don’t Leave your Vehicle Unlocked and Unattended for too Long
with your car, but they may still find things inside to steal, and you don’t want to attract any negative attention. Check all Crime Prevention Areas Don’t forget to check your windows are shut completely, that the sunroof is closed, and the boot is locked. Even if the window is open just a crack, thieves can put pressure on them and force them open. They can potentially prise open a sunroof this way as well. Of course, you should always leave your windows partially open if you have a dog waiting in the back seat, but there’s probably less chance of a break in with a barking dog warning them off. Ideally, you should leave pets at home during shopping trips, but if it’s unavoidable, such as an essential stop on the way home from the vet, there’s reason enough to crack a window.
Again, this seems simple, but we’re not just referring to those times you leave your car unlocked to pop indoors when you forget something. You’ve also got to account for those chilly mornings. When you’re looking to warm up the car before you set off for work, you may leave the car unlocked whilst temperatures go up or frosty windows thaw. We may have a warmer month ahead of us, but it’s good to bear these things in mind. It’s also important that you remember to lock your doors when you’re having car trouble. If your vehicle isn’t running, of course there’s little chance they’ll make a quick getaway 28

This month I would like to tell you about an encounter I had a few months ago with someone, while at a networking event. It was the normal type of evening event: a drink, a few canapés, and lots of mingling. I had shaken a fair number of hands and had some polite conversations when I got talking to an IFA that I had never met before. Having covered the normal opening questions, we got on to more serious matters. I’m not sure how we got there but I was ‘into’ one of my

PROPERTY
Avoiding a winter of discontent
Supplied by: Lucie White & Company
Property expert Lucie White takes us through the essentials of looking after your rental property during the coldest months of the year. With coverage of the devastating floods in the north of England still fresh in our minds, now seems like a good time for landlords to check up on their own property portfolio. Here are a few things to get on top of at this time of year: • Holiday cover. If you’re jetting off for some winter sun or heading to the slopes, don’t forget to arrange for someone to be on hand, should any issues arise whilst you are away. Most property management companies offer landlord cover on a weekly basis, even if you don’t have a longer term agreement in place. • Minor niggles. Don’t allow minor issues to drag on – some have the potential to become serious, costly ones! A good property manager will address blocked drains and temperamental fuses straight away, resolving inconveniences before they escalate into something more problematic. • Landlord’s insurance. You’d be amazed at how many owners overlook this essential safety net. No matter how wellmaintained your property is, accidents happen – leaving you with huge repair bills and a property that is uninhabitable. Research the available options carefully and make sure you are covered for putting up tenants in a hotel if need be. Employing a property management company is the best way to ensure that your investment is professionally cared for all year round. Most high street agents offer this service alongside their lettings arrangements, but you don’t have to settle for the agent that found you a tenant.
37
As with any other service provider, approach several and balance cost with the breadth of services provided, testimonials or recommendations, and the level of attention to detail on offer. A good property manager should take the time to get to know you and your portfolio so that you can rely on them when you need to – that peace of mind is priceless. Lucie White & Company clients get all of this and more. If you’re less than delighted with your current property management company, get in touch for an informal chat and find out how we could take a bit of that stress off your shoulders. Lucie White is the owner and founder of Lucie White & Company, offering lettings, sales, property management and investment advice to clients across South West London and Surrey. lucie@luciewhite.com; 020 8549 8064.

RESTAURANT REVIEW
Deea We recently paid a visit to Deea in Kingston, and to sum it up in one word, I would have to say: ’perfection’. Not only was the awardwinning food absolutely delicious and very satisfying, but the entire experience was all you could hope for. There were very friendly and attentive staff members on hand to deliver prompt service with a smile, as well as a comfortable and ambient setting. Music played quietly, which still allowed for good conversation (perfect for business functions) and the spacious room partitions and downstairs area can cater for parties large and small. We had a table for two by the window at a beautifully set table, and found it very easy to get to from Kingston Station. Everything was very modern and sophisticated. The restaurant is going through further improvements this Summer.
They hold fundraisers for charities like Shooting Star Chase, host outdoor events and genuinely enjoy contributing to the local community. Thank you so much to Mr Monaf and his excellent team for taking such good care of us. We even went home with plenty of leftovers, thanks to the generous portions! We definitely recommend paying them a visit.
Upon meeting Mr Monaf himself, we came to see that this isn’t just a fabulous restaurant, but it’s also a community-driven and charitable organisation with restaurants in Twickenham and Hampton Court aswell.
CONGRATULATIONS TO LAST MONTH’S COMPETITION WINNER DANIEL HAYWARD!
