LOCAL BUSINESS
This section is about local business owners who support Omni Local.
Supplied by: Claire Dyson - Untangle Your Life
This month I am talking to Claire Dyson from Untangle Your Life Ltd. Q1: Hi Claire, could you please tell our readers a bit about Untangle Your Life? A1: Untangle Your Life is the name of my private counselling practice. I am also a member of the teams delivering counselling to patients at two busy Surrey GP surgeries and to clients of The Counselling Partnership, a charity offering affordable counselling for anxiety and depression. Q2: What inspired you to become a counsellor? A2: My GP “prescribed” therapy after the stress of my sales job floored me. A true sceptic, I was astonished that “just” sitting with someone and having that weekly breathing space to work through what was troubling me without being judged was so effective. Two years later I changed jobs to one that fitted round the five years of study required to become a degree qualified counsellor.
anxiety or depression (for example) are the same, people are affected so differently. Q6: What is typcically the most common problem you encounter?
Q3: What do you enjoy most about this type of work? A3: Selling serviced office space, whilst lucrative, was not fulfilling. Something was missing; a sense of purpose; of doing meaningful work. Helping a client gain insight into why they do what they do gives them the option to choose differently. Nothing compares to seeing that light bulb go on with a client. Q4: What kind of service does Untangle Your Life offer? A4: I have supported those facing loss (death, dementia, marriage break-up, miscarriage, the reality of old age, confidence, childlessness), anxiety, depression, explosive anger, feeling overwhelmed by life, stress, questioning sexual orientation, low selfesteem and bouts of over-eating which feel addictive or compulsive.
A6: People not enjoying life to the full because of the pressure they put on themselves in the (usually mistaken) belief that everyone else is effortlessly pulling off a rewarding job, awesome friendships, a close romantic relationship, perfect parenting and a fit, toned body. Q7: Do you have any promotions on at the moment? A7: Choosing a counsellor from a picture and a profile, when the quality of the relationship between counsellor and client is the second biggest factor in predicting a successful outcome feels a bit high risk. Also I can only judge if I’m the most suitable counsellor for someone if I meet them. This is why I offer a non-chargeable “chemistry test” session so we can get the measure of each other and make an informed decision. Q8: That’s great. So what is the best way for readers to get in touch with you?
Q5: What is your usual clientele?
A8: Please call 07950 986 085 or email clairedysoncounselling@gmail.com.
A5: There is no “usual”, everyone is unique. No two people wanting to master their anger,

CARE IN THE COMMUNITY
THIS MONTH’S Supplied by: CHARITY Leanna Carl - Omni Local
Breast Cancer Awareness Month This month marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the UK, meaning we all have the chance to become more conscious of the facts and share any details that’ll help keep friends and family in the know. The symptoms aren’t always that obvious and being that Breast cancer is the UK’s most common type of cancer, it is important to catch it early and to help raise vital funds for research and treatments. More commonly, diagnoses are given to women who are over 50, however younger women and sometimes men can even get breast cancer, so it is important to spread the word. The main thing is to find it early and stop it from spreading to other body parts. Symptoms The most obvious symptom you will come across is a fairly noticeable lump or a thickening in tissue, but many lumps can be completely benign or could indicate a completely different health problem. Pain is not usually associated with breast cancer. Always make sure that any noticeable changes are seen by your doctor. Changes to breasts that may indicate cancer can include: skin dimpling, unusual rashes, a sunken appearance, abnormal changes in the size of one or both breasts, (bloody) discharge, or a lump/swollen area in your armpit. Always keep a close eye on your body and examine regularly, as the sooner changes are seen to, the better. Try to be aware of the dangers, but do not panic if things seem strange, contact your GP and they will help to reassure and refer you for tests so you’ll know the next move.
By visiting the Breast Cancer Care website (breastcancercare.org.uk) or looking into the support page of Cancer Research UK (cancerresearchuk.org/support-us) you can see what events are happening in aid of the cause and find ways to fundraise yourself in creative and enjoyable ways, such as the The Big Pink campaign. You could host a pink-themed bake sale, have wear pink days at work, throw a pink themed party/disco with a small entry fee to donate to charity no matter how simple or extravagant your method is, you’ll be doing your part for a great cause. The more we can help spread the word, the better chance we’ll have at fighting, whether it’s for us, our loved ones, or for those we don’t know who are in desperate need of support, so remember to think pink this month!
Spreading the Word Although it isn’t a happy subject to discuss, the simple act of wearing a pin or running a high-spirited fundraising campaign can make a huge difference in both support of research and the likelihood of those inflicted spotting the signs and catching it early.

COMMUNITY PERSON
James Berry MP
Supplied by: Councillor Rowena Bass
Member of Parliament for Kingston & Surbiton One of Kingston’s two MPs, James Berry was elected as Member of Parliament for Kingston & Surbiton in May 2015. James lives in Surbiton with his wife, Nehali and they commute into London on the same packed trains as other local residents (usually the 06.35!). After studying at UCL and Harvard Law School, James qualified as a barrister specialising in medical and police law, for which he was ranked as one of the top junior barristers in the country. So James is not another “career politician” and brings a wealth of experience to the role of representing local people in Parliament.
with casework and responded to over 12,000 other pieces of correspondence from constituents. On Monday mornings, Fridays and at the weekend, James spends his time visiting local schools, charities, businesses and other organisations.
Prior to James’ election, he spearheaded Kingston Conservatives’ successful 2014 campaigns for 30 Minutes Free Parking to support our small shops and for extra police officers in Kingston town centre, which has the borough’s highest crime rate.
Locally, James is campaigning for a new school in the area of greatest need (Surbiton / Tolworth), for Crossrail 2 (which is now set to come to every station in the Borough) and re-zoning of Kingston and Surbiton from zone 6 to zone 5. And also for Automatic Number Plate Recognition to help to police deter and catch domestic burglars targeting houses near the A3. These local campaigns have grown out of the countless discussions James has had with local residents and you can find out how to support them at www. jamesberrymp.com.
Following his election, James was elected by his colleagues to the influential Home Affairs Select Committee and as Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Tamils and Vice Chair of the APPG for Social Integration. In January James was singled out by the Times as one of 10 “newcomers of the year” out of 182 newly elected MPs. James constantly speaks up for his constituents in Parliament including leading debates on problems with the local Coroner’s Court and the importance of early years education.

James is very active in the constituency. He holds weekly advice surgeries at venues across the Borough – these are advertised at www.jamesberrymp.com. Since being elected, James has helped over 4,750 people

LOCAL CHARITY
THIS MONTH’S CHARITY Supplied by:
Charity’s New Canal Boat Will Provide Respite River Breaks for Sick Children
Yvonne Winborn - Momentum
Kingston-based children’s cancer charity Momentum was thrilled this summer to be able to launch ‘Moments on the River’, its new canal boat which will provide the families of sick children locally with respite breaks on the beautiful river Thames. The bright green boat was officially launched by the charity’s patron children’s author Dame Jacqueline Wilson, author of the famous Hetty Feather and Tracy Beaker children’s books, at a very special event at Shepperton marina, complete with Momentum families, live owls and a brass band playing on the river’s edge. Kingston resident Dame Jacqueline Wilson said on the day: “I’m so pleased to be a patron of Momentum. It’s such a special charity and does so much for families who have seriously ill children. I think the Momentum boat is a wonderfully imaginative idea. As Ratty said in Wind in the Willows, ‘There is nothing so good as messing about on the river.’ The boat will give our families a chance to relax and enjoy some respite care. It’s such an exciting, imaginative and glorious thing for everybody and I am thrilled to be cutting the ribbon to launch Momentum’s new boat.” Since then, the brightly-coloured 40ft wide beam canal boat has been spotted taking Momentum families up and down the river from Kingston Bridge as far as Henley! Momentum families can take the boat - which sleeps four - out for a day trip or for a few nights and can either skipper her themselves or a qualified skipper can be provided by the charity. Momentum’s Charlotte Roberts said that ‘Moments on the River’ will provide muchneeded respite for many of Momentum’s families.
9
She said: “Moments on the River’ is such a lovely, tranquil place for families to escape to. Being on the water is very calming and peaceful and having our own dedicated boat is very special. It is such a wonderful addition to the charity’s Family Support Programme and we can’t thank our supporters enough for making it possible.” Momentum supports children with cancer and life-limiting conditions across SW London and Surrey. To make a donation to support the charity’s upkeep of the boat or to find out more about the charity’s work visit www.moment-um.org or call 020 8974 5931. Many thanks.

The Seven Saxon Kings Summer lasted this year well into September, but Autumn is now upon us and Kingston Tour guides offers walks on just the first Sunday of every month – until March. Our eager guides are already primed to share with you the fascinating delights of our historic town.
LOCAL HISTORY Supplied by: Mike Seigel - Kingston Tour Guides
Key to this are our seven Saxon Kings, which have been depicted on a vivid mural on the side of the BHS store in Eden Street since 1985. Some believe that all seven were crowned in Kingston and we know that two definitely were: Athelstan and Ethelred the Unready. The first of them was Edward the Elder, son of the famous Alfred the Great, who was crowned, possibly in Kingston, around 900. He is best known for his reconquest of all England south of the Humber after the Viking invasions, and he is thought to have had up to 3 wives and 14 children! One of his children was Athelstan who succeeded him around 924. He is thought to have been a wise ruler who pushed English power further North by capturing York from the Danes and is known as the first King of England. Athelstan died childless around 940, succeeded by his half-brother Edmund I, who reigned for only a few years before being murdered at his own feast at the age of about 25! He was succeeded by his brother Edred around 946, and so three of Athelstan’s sons became king. Edred had further trouble from the Danes in the north, and appears to have been dominated by his mother! He died around 955, succeeded by his nephew Edwy, son of Edmund I. Edwy was not a good king, and his immoral behaviour is well-depicted on the Eden Street mural. He fell out with the Church, and died after a reign of only 4 years. His successor
11
Edgar is not associated with Kingston: he was crowned in Bath and died in Winchester. Edgar’s son, Edward the Martyr, was our next Saxon King. He too had a short, troubled reign (975-979) and was murdered at Corfe Castle, possibly on the instructions of his wicked stepmother, then was succeeded by the more famous Ethelred, known as the Unready. This was a misunderstanding of the Saxon word ‘unraed’ meaning ‘ill-advised’. Ethelred was indeed ill-advised and paid the notorious Danegeld to try to appease the Danes – but in vain: Danish kings retook England, and Ethelred was forced to flee to Normandy. So Kingston’s seven Saxon kings provide some colourful stories, which you might care to reflect upon the next time you are queueing for the Seven Kings car park opposite Sainsbury’s! To learn more about the history of our town, why not join one of our tours, led by specially trained volunteers? The charge is £5 per adult - or you can arrange a special tour for you and your friends at a time to suit you. For further information please visit our website www.kingstontourguides.org.uk

ARTS
Kunstler aus Kingston zu Gast in Oldenburg
Supplied by: Caroline Calascione - KAOS
Well, we are all safely home from our second art trip to Kingstons’ twin town of Oldenburg, in Northern Germany. On our first visit to Oldenburg in 2014 there were just 8 artists, this year 16 of us went. As well as sharing their studio spaces our BBK, friends shared their homes and just as on out first visit, we were overwhelmed by their kindnesses and generosity. BBK (Bund Bildender Künstlerinnen) is a nationwide artists’ association with a group in every ‘county’, created expressly to encourage the arts all over Germany. It is much like most open studios groups round the UK, but unlike UK open studios German artists are government funded. They even contributed generously to our travel expenses.
are used to made many of us see our work, and that of others, in a new light. Exchanging ideas, artistic likes and dislikes, being inspired and hopefully even being inspiring. Those few days were intense, sometimes chaotic and a lot of fun. We are immensely grateful to the artists of Oldenburg.
It was a short, intense and busy few days; unlike Kingston Open Studios the Oldenburg open studios are held over just one weekend, every other year (very like the Venice Biennale). All the Kingston artists stayed with different BBK artists, in the town and in the countryside and there was a lot of meeting and parting and finding venues and getting a bit lost; someone rather perspicaciously noted that it was ‘rather like herding cats’ getting us all to the same destination at the same time.
All that remains now is to work out how KAOS and Kingston can repay our friends from Oldenburg BBK when they visit us next year! www.kingstonartistsopenstudios.co.uk
It was wonderful being part of a large group of artists; we all create vastly different work, but all speak the same ‘language’ so to speak (even though we often didn’t quite understand each other). Showing with different artists in wholly different venues to those we 13

Cleaner Carpets Having cleaner carpets throughout the house instantly puts your home in healthier condition. Not only will the carpets look better, but regular cleaning can extend the life of them as well. Your home will smell fresher, the air will be a lot cleaner and you can help to remove any traces of dust, mildew or pet dander. Consistent, deep carpet cleanings can remove various different types of bacteria in a way that a simple scrubbing cannot. For some, carpet cleaning yourself can be a real hassle and isn’t always 100% effective if you don’t have the right products and equipment. There are some negative factors that can prevent you from taking the job on yourself; for example, some harsh cleaning products can cause allergic skin reactions or asthma complications, or other products can be corrosive, causing burns or damaging the eyes. Even having to wet your hands for a long time can irritate skin and lead to dermatitis.

It’s Not Just the Cold Making us Blue!
HEALTH & FITNESS Supplied by: Claire Dyson - Untangle Your Life
The loss of the light evenings limits many happiness-inducing outdoor activities for weekends. Once the clocks go back on the 30th it is dark by 4.36pm, triggering our brains to make us sleepy and ready for bed when most of us work till 17:30 or later. Less exposure to sunshine lowers vitamin D levels increasing tiredness and adding to that “meh” feeling. Try these methods to boost energy and mood: Walk for 30mins at lunchtime: Challenge the “I exercise in the evenings / at the gym” mindset and make the most of any sunshine on offer into the bargain. Revamp your playlist: A University of Missouri study in 2013 showed that listening to upbeat music was helpful to those trying to lift their mood. Get active: During exercise, your body releases natural painkillers (endorphins) to ease any discomfort and increase our sense of well-being. Embrace Autumn with walks through woods of crunchy leaves or iceskating at the rings that pop up at this time of year.
Get social: We humans have a biological drive to be in relationships with each other. A 2014 University of Chicago report warned that lonely people are nearly twice as likely to die prematurely than those who do not suffer feelings of isolation. Look up family and friends or find groups of people who like the same things you do via www.meetup. com. Eat wisely: The wider the variety of foods in your diet, the more likely you are to get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs to function at its alert best. www.nhs.uk/ Livewell/Goodfood/Pages/the-eatwell-guide. aspx
Zzzzz: Being active means when it is time for bed we’re more likely to sleep better and give our bodies the time they need to repair, refresh and re-boot, ready to seize the new day.
Seek support: Consider visiting your GP to be sure you are not wrestling with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), depression or a physical ailment draining your energy.
Do good to feel good: According to Action for Happiness, “scientific studies show that helping others increases life satisfaction, provides a sense of meaning, increases feelings of competence, improves our mood and reduces stress. It can help take our minds off our own troubles.” Volunteer at https://do-it.org/.

October Gardening Tips

It is said that autumn is the season of Janet Bacon mists and mellow fruitfulness, where we enjoy the golden yellows and browns of the leaves on the trees, the colourful berries and rose hips on the shrubs and in the hedgerows. Winter flowering containers Now that your summer containers and baskets are looking past their best, it is time to start planting up a selection of foliage and flowers to add colour and interest in the colder months. Added bulbs will provide a final flourish in the early spring. Start with a lower level of bulbs, such as dwarf daffodils (Narcissus), muscari, tulips or dwarf iris (Iris reticulata). After covering with soil, add in a few bedding plants that will brave the elements and provide some flowers in the middle of winter, such as: Cylamen, winter-flowering pansy, viola, primula, and polyanthus, winterflowering heathers, large-flowered in shallow wooden boxes or open trays bedding daisies (Bellis perennis) or and pack with a peat-free compost or wallflowers (Erysimium). dry sand, just covering the tubers but exposing the crown. SPECIAL FEATURE
Autumn Festivities
Supplied by: Leanna Carl - Omni Local all at once, you can add what you need to your wishlists and get them a few at a time. Just make sure they’ll arrive in time for Halloween! Some online stores or places like Amazon can get things to you in a matter of two days, and it doesn’t always cost a lot. Keeping things simple
This time of year is great if you enjoy those crunchy Autumn leaves, cooler temperatures and a bit of fancy dress! Not everyone enjoys masquerading as a monster or famed character, but for those who do, hopefully you’re going all out this year! Make an effort! Try to be creative if you can, don’t throw on a witches hat or some devil horns and call it a day (or do, if its just for work!) show your artistic side and have some fun with it! Not only does a great outfit idea get you into the spirit for the kids, but it just gives more excuse for photo ops, and being a bit of a shutterbug myself I can say that having collections of hilarious and colourful family photos is brilliant. It doesn’t have to cost the earth either, the best way I know of putting together something unique (rather than shelling out £30 on a halfway decent vampire costume at your local fancy dress shop) is to drip things in early and a bit at a time. For instance, I like to search through eBay and find pieces bit by bit to incorporate into my costume. Once I know who or what I want to be, all I need is the materials and to list them in my head. Even if you don’t want to buy them 22
If of course, you’d like to take the easier route, pop into somewhere that supplies the whole shebang, like Partica in Kingston. You can get your full costume, your accessories, makeup and even attributes for your party if you’re throwing one - just don’t leave it too last minute, as those stores get seriously packed closer to Halloween! Without putting yourself out too much, try to put a little bit of effort into your kids’ costumes as well if you can, don’t make them feel like they’re a burden when they pick something a tad more extravagant or out there. This doesn’t need to take up all your time and money, it just takes enthusiasm. Seek help from a friend, spend an evening looking through online fancy dress stores with them, its easy! Listen to what they want to be before applying facepaint or throwing a cape on them and they’re guaranteed to have a great time showing off their new personality.

into the spirit and lend a hand in supervising. I’m sure if any of your friends or relatives have children they could do with a hand in keeping track of their little monsters during their hunt for sugary treats! Before the fun begins...
Family activities Why not keep the kids entertained during the half term as well, by joining them in some decoration making or baking? You could have them draw the design on your pumpkin before cutting it out, or create some bat shapes and black and orange paper chains to adorn the house. Why not get some spooky themed cookie cutters and make some biscuits for them to ice themselves, or make a nice pumpkin pie with the scooped out pumpkin flesh? Pumpkin pie is delicious, sweet, and a lot easier to make than you’d think, its all a matter of your own flavour preferences.
There is plenty you can do besides waiting on trick or treaters, even if you’re not a party goer. You could gather the family or a few friends and host a scary movie night with Halloween themed snacks if you prefer. Or maybe you could accompany your younger relatives while they go door to door, to get 23
There are some of you out there that probably see Halloween as a silly holiday, and don’t get as excited as the rest of us. Others may be so excited that they’re counting the days! Whichever type you are, there is still a lot going on this month to get involved in before the ghouls and goblins make their appearances. Why not refer to our local events section and see what’s on this month? Or alternatively, head to the Rose Theatre or the Odeon at the Kingston Rotunda to enjoy a great movie or theatre production. It may also be worth visiting your local greengrocer and seeing what new fruits and veggies are in season. This way you can start coming home to, or greeting friends and family with delicious, hearty, seasonal meals that’ll set up up for the colder months. This time of year, whether you go out or stay in, you get to throw on your comfiest jumpers or jackets, enjoy watching the leaves change and gradually get into the Winter/Xmas spirit – what could be bad about all that? However you decide to spend it, we hope that you enjoy the Autumn season and have a Happy Halloween!

WHEN WE ARE MARRIED By J B Priestley, directed by Barrie Rutter Cleckleywyke, a town in the West Riding, 1908. Tue 11 Oct – Sat 15 October The Helliwells, the Parkers and the Soppitts are highly respected pillars of their community… but not for much longer. Married on the same day in the same chapel, they gather to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The celebrations are short lived when they discover the vicar wasn’t licensed and they are actually not married. In fact, they have been living in sin for 25 years. Watch with mounting glee as the pandemonium switches from horrified social embarrassment to the realisation that they are free from the shackles of long tedious marriages. Home truths are dealt, bullies get their retribution and the hen-pecked are hilariously and most satisfyingly liberated. THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW Fri 21 Oct, 8pm Sing and dance the night away in your wildest costumes as this cult classic gets a big screen outing at the Rose. A great night out to let your hair down with friends and do the Time Warp in style! Please note this is a film screening only, not a hosted show. Proceeds from this event raise funds to support the Rose Theatre’s diverse programme of drama, cultural and learning opportunities. Rose Theatre Kingston is a Registered Charity No. 1000182. 26
ALL MY SONS Directed by Michael Rudman Fri 28 Oct - Sat 19 Nov A compelling story of love, guilt and the corrupting power of greed, All My Sons was Arthur Miller’s first great Broadway success sealing his reputation as one of the most influential playwrights of the 20th Century. This is the first time we present work by this extraordinary writer as part of our American season. Joe Keller is a thriving businessman who, during World War II, knowingly supplied the American airforce with defective engines, leading to the deaths of innocent pilots. To avoid the blame, he let his business partner take the fall, but during a sunny afternoon Joe is confronted by the consequences of his moral actions as a visitor arrives to reveal a secret that will rip his family apart. Another one of Tim Burton’s strange and beautiful creations. The adaptation of the Ransom Riggs novel, follows Jacob Portman (Asa Butterfield, star of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas); a boy who has faced some terrible tragedies and has sadly been left orphaned by the loss of his parents. He begins to come across some odd clues that seem to lead to somewhere important – to a mysterious place known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. The home is
Mysteries come to light, but the danger increases as he realises things aren’t always as they seem and these children truly are peculiar. Each child seems to have weird and wonderful abilities that aren’t of this world, including his new friend Emma (Ella Purnell). The problem is, there are some unfriendly forces looking for the children and Jacob must help to protect them. Miss Alma is convinved that Jacob is special and they must help him to uncover his own special powers. This is a must-see movie, and features various fan favourited actors, such as Samuel L Jackson, Rupert Everett and Dame Judi Dench.

Alice Through the Looking Glass This movie reunites the all the original stars, such as Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall, Michael Sheen and Stephen Fry; as well as new characters like the Mad Hatter’s Father Zanik (Rhys Ifans), and Time (Sacha Baron Cohen), who is half human and half clock.
Recommending another Tim Burton masterpiece – Alice Through the Looking Glass, much like the first movie is brimming with whimsy and lunacy. This adventure features the same unforgettable characters created by Lewis Carroll and continues with Alice’s adventures in the whimsical world of Underland. Alice Kingsleigh (Mia Wasikowska) has to travel through time in order to help save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp).
27
Alice has spent some time sailing the high seas just like her Father and has eventually returned to London, where she discovers a magical looking glass. This transports her to a whole other realm: Underland. Friendly characters like the white rabbit, Cheshire Cat and Absolem are welcoming, however the Mad Hatter seems to have lost his Muchness and isn’t quite himself. Mirana sends Alice on a quest to find a magical globe called the Chronosphere inside the Grand Clock, as it is the source of all time. There is a dangerous race against time to find it, and many perils along the way.

The French Riviera If you’re looking for the perfect getaway, the Riviera, or Côte d’Azur is one of the most glamarous and dazzling options for those who like to escape to the Mediterranean. Whether your aim is to enjoy laying out on the beach or simply seeing some of the scenery, it really doesn’t matter what time of year it is. Ideally, if you are looking to stay in the French Riviera, you should be advised that July/ August are the more expensive times to book, not to mention things begin filling up quickly with other holidaymakers and tourists. There are around 70km of the Riviera between Menton and Cannes, which were once inhospitable – however the area soon evolved into the Winter destination for aristocrats back in the 19th century until it later became the place to be during the Summer season. Full of fabulous hotels, apartments and villas as well as natural harbours. The gorgeous hills, glimmering blue waters and excellent atmosphere day or night provide lots to do during your stay – just make sure you schedule enough days to visit!
TRAVEL Supplied by: Leanna Carl - Omni Local

There is even a pool and a private garden for you to enjoy, so why not surprise your loved ones and get in touch with Carole? The almost endless, warm beaches, great people and the chance to spot the occasional celebrity should be more than enough to entice you! However, if you desire a little more activity on your holiday, the Côte d’Azur hosts many excursions, tours and talks for you to take part in. Getting around is easy and there are more than 150 different galleries and various museums throughout the French Riviera to give you a more cultural experience.
We definitely recommend booking a secluded villa for the opportunity to soak up everything the Côte d’Azur has to offer. This means no hustle and bustle, or worrying
It really doesn’t matter if you’re an art lover, party-goer or just a full on beach-tanner, there is something for all and beautiful sights for all parties – book with your significant other, your whole family or even a group of friends and enjoy the Côte d’Azur. 29

Building a Rabbit Hutch
DIY Supplied by: Leanna Carl - Omni Local
Now that the nights are starting to grow longer and colder, you need to be more careful with your outdoor pets – this means protection from the elements and from other animals. Why not guarantee their safety through a new, sturdy unit for them to live in? Here’s where to start: What you’ll need: A Saw – 16 Guage Galvanised Wire Mesh – Wire Cutters – Gloves – Plywood – A Metal File – Drop Trays (optional) – C-rings – Plastic Sheet – L-Brackets – Hammer – Nails - Sandpaper 1. Plan your design out beforehand, aniticipating the best possible shape and size for where you’re going to keep it and for how many rabbits. Ideally you want enough space for the rabbit to sit on its back legs, and to stretch out. 2. Cut two large pieces of plywood, for example 22”x70” x3/4”, using a saw. 3. Cut the wire (or have it cut by a professional) to your sizing specifications and file down any sharp protrusions. You could even get a ready made cage and build the frame around it. For a 25”x49” cage, you’ll need four 48” pieces and two 24” pieces. 4. Include drop trays if you like, to make cleaning below the rabbit hutch a lot easier and add additional protection. 5. Use C-rings to attach the two smaller wire sheets to the larger pieces to create the back and sides, then attach the top and bottom pieces but create another mesh divider sheet if you want to leave room for a drop tray. 6. Attach the front of the cage using C-rings and if you’re using a divider, punch holes through it to attach to the inside of the cage. 7. put the top of the cage on, attaching with C-rings and if you’re using a drop tray, cut out an opening to slide the trays in and out. 8. Cut a doorway into the cage, covering any exposed wire edges with plastic trim. Use any leftover wire for a door, larger than the hole made.
33
9. Attach the door with C-rings to cover the hole completely and create a latch. 10. Create the frame using 2”x4” lumber that is larger than the actual cage, and construct the frame around the cage. Using L-brackets in the corners of the frame will protect the wood from direct contact with the cage. 11. Cut wooden legs, making sure they are all the same length and attach to the frame, spacing evenly and nailing secure. 12. When attaching the sides, use hinges for more ventilation. Then build the plywood roof, covering the top completely. For further protection add metal or plastic roofing. All you need to do now is sand any rough edges, and begin your interior decorating!

Information About Tenancies This year if you’re looking to move into a new place or are planning on living alone very soon, it is always important that you first have a look into tenancy agreements. Making sure that you and your landlord are in agreement will help to solve any future disputes and ensure that you never get your wires crossed. Tenancy agreements come in many forms, from Assured Tenancies to Regulated or Protected Tenancy Agreements. An Assured agreement is for a fixed term or can be run from one period to the next via a written agreement. It should be noted that your Landlord will have no posession rights for this type of tenancy, which means that tenants have a more secure agreement than with a Shorthold Tenancy.

late 80s, but can still be in effect for some tenants. Once a fixed term agreement is at the end of its term, Landlords have the right to posession, but they are required to provide the Tenant with at least 2 months notice beforehand.
Residential Tenancies allow for possession or usage of a Landlord’s property as an exchange for rent or payment. A Tenancy won’t essentially need a written agreement, but it is always recommended for safety and security. For properties with more than one Tenant, all adults are typically required to sign the agreement to count themselves liable for any property damages or for payment sharing.
Assured Shorthold Tenancies will normally include the date when the agreement was set, all contact details for both the Landlord and for the Tenant, as well as the property address, tenancy ending date and deposit amount. The date of when the deposit was made may also be noted, and also the agreeable rent amount, including payment methods and dates.
A Shorthold Tenancy requires no written agreements and will allow for the tenant to remain in the property for a further 6 months; unless of course their Landlord has grounds to evict them. Protected Tenancy Agreements have not been used since the
The Landlord obligations should also be set out in advance, as well as the Tenant obligations, including whether pets are allowed, smoking indoors is permittable or if they approve of sub-letting, and so on. A signature from a witness isn’t always necessary but may also be useful in future, as well as signatures from the Tenant and Landlord. Ultimate Cafe Shakes Things Up with NEW Monster Milkshakes! We recently paid a visit to the Ultimate Cafe in Kingston (housed within Ultimate Outdoors) and were delighted with their delicious selection of new and indulgent mega-milkshakes. Inspired by the current Freakshake craze, their combinations of cakes, pastires, icecream and sweets create a taste sensation for all – particularly for those who have a sweet-tooth! Their whole menu is full of mouthwatering all day breakfasts, light bites, gluten free options and a wide variety of drinks, including many specialty teas – but for us, the milkshakes truly stole the show! Whether you’re purchasing Jelly shakes (loaded with gummy sweets) for your kids or enjoying a decadent, more adult-friendly Eton Mess shake (made with fresh strawberries, mini meringues and whipped cream), there really is something for all tastes. We loved the Donut shake, with its Milkybar flavour, a whole donut and m&ms to decorate, as well as the Ultimate Choc shake
RESTAURANT REVIEW that comes with a rich, fudgy brownie, tons of Nutella and salted pretzels, which really compliment all those chocolatey flavours. There are 6 crazy creations to choose from and we felt the envious looks from passers by as we dived into ours! This is the perfect spot to unwind, and their famed shakes are really refreshing. We insist you take a break next time you are shopping to pop in for a treat, and being a reasonablypriced, family-friendly cafe, there’s no reason not to spoil yourself! The cafe also has a soft-play area for the little ones and hosts Birthday parties. Conveniently situated by the Kingston Market and run by friendly, warm staff; the Ultimate Cafe is a real gem.
