This Month we’re Talking to Josh Dudley from The Future Life Style Network.

Q1: Hi Josh, could you please tell our readers a little bit about FLN? A1: FLN is an organisation inspiring and creating the next generation of entrepreneurs and promotes personal growth and development, through teaching valuable business and life skills. Q2: How long have you been in this line of business now? A2: I took on this business opportunity in November 2016. After looking for the right business opportunity for years I was invited to a local gathering of entrepreneurs and saw this was right for me as it allowed both time and freedom and learn and teach invaluable business skills and successfully create a startup e-commerce business. a lot a potential recruits and customers are extremely quick to say ‘no’. People are usually content when they feel they have found a service they’ve already got, and not everyone is looking for a business opportunity when approached by a friend.

Q3: What do you enjoy most about working in this type of industry? A3: Having the freedom to work though my online shop means I can work from anywhere. The free training and mentorship really helps those like myself who are new to business. Being in this business for myself but not by myself is an amazing opportunity to learn from my mentors who are giving me the tools to become a successful entrepreneur.

Q7: Do you have any special offers/ promotions on at the moment? A7: There are always great deals and tariffs offered through my online shop at the lowest price available. My business is working in partnership with well known companies such as Virgin Media and First Utility to provide the best possible tariffs, which are not available to customers that go directly to them.

Q4: What kind of services does The FLN have to offer? A4: As well as recruiting those interested in an exciting business opportunity, we offer great deals and tariffs on such essential services such as Broadband & TV bundles, Telephone lines & sim only deals, Gas & electricity tariffs, as well as our own brand of wellness and skincare products.

Q8: Do you have any advice for those looking to get into a similar line of work? A8: This opportunity is available to all, and no experience is required. When approached with a business opportunity it is essential to remain open minded and ask open questions. Always remain coachable and hungry to learn new skills.

Q5: What is your usual clientele? A5: Since FLN operates in such an essential market, our clientele can range between anyone looking to save money on essential services they are already paying for. The Gas and Electricity tariffs are guaranteed to beat any standard tariff from the big six energy companies.

CARE IN THE COMMUNITY

THIS MONTH’S Supplied by: CHARITY Anne Blanche - Carers UK

Community Matters Following on from Carers Week item last month, a few words about young carers in Kingston. Due to very generous members of the public, additional funding was secured to ensure the continuation of the Young Carers Cook and Eat Project for a few more months. For the young people, the project not only teaches skills to prepare simple nutritional meals for themselves and the people they care for, it is when they sit down together that the real benefits happen. They realise they are not alone and soon they develop their own support group and make friends.

As well as delivering activities, such as youth

COMMUNITY PERSON

Councillor Julie Pickering Cllr Julie Pickering is the 182nd Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. She has been a Councillor in Coombe Vale ward, New Malden for six years and enjoyed living there for 28 years with her family. James, her husband, is Consort this year and Anna, her daughter, is Mayoress.

Supplied by: Mayor’s Office - RBK

“It is an immense honour to be Mayor and as the First Citizen of the Royal Borough. Kingston is respected as the oldest and 1st Royal Borough in England with a hugely rich history. During the Mayoral Year, we will attend approximately 600 events both in the borough and promoting Kingston outside of the borough as well as presiding over a number of citizenship ceremonies on behalf of the Queen. I am particularly looking forward to meeting many more local residents to enrich my appreciation of the place we live in. Alongside meeting many people and promoting Kingston, I am focusing my support on two particular challenges: 1. I want us to be one of the first boroughs to be named the London Borough of Culture, a new initiative being launched by the Mayor of London this year for 2019 and 2020. I believe we have such a rich diverse culture to offer, we need to shine more of a light on what we have to offer to the rest of London, UK and the world. 2. Support the initiative LOVE KINGSTON, a fledgling Kingston fund supporting the community across all of the borough. Kingston is only one of two boroughs in London that does not have a sustainable Community Foundation, where funding is raised by the community for use in the community. Richmond have 3 foundations, giving out approx. £1.9m per year. I want us to all get behind creating a local Community Foundation; find out more by visiting www. love-kingston.org.uk.”

year the other 48 Councillors elected her as Mayor. “I am so glad I took the opportunity, as I now know so much more about the whole borough and how to support the amazing work many of you do to keep our community vibrant.” To understand more about the role of Mayor, please follow: Facebook: MayorOfKingstonuponThames or Twitter: @RBKMayor or get in touch via: mayors.office@kingston. gov.uk or tel: 020 8547 5027 If you would like the Mayor/Deputy Mayor to attend one of your events, please email us or complete the online form below: www.kingston.gov.uk/info/200233/your_ mayor/495/invite_the_mayor_to_your_event To learn more about standing as a Councillor in the 2018 local elections please visit www. kingston.gov.uk/info/200267/councillors/668/ be_a_councillor. POLICE ADVICE

Burglary Prevention Now the weather has turned for the better (at last!!) we want to help you protect your home from burglars.

Supplied by: Alison McWinnie - MET Police

Here are our top tips: 1 - Low front boundary; keep hedges and walls at the front of your house low (under 1 metre) so burglars have nowhere to hide. 2 - Secure side gate; keep side gates locked at all times. Open gates mean burglars can easily access your home without being seen by passers-by or neighbours. 3 - High side and rear boundaries with trellis and spiky defensive planting; keep hedges, walls and fences around your back garden high (over 1.8 metres). Add lightweight trellis to gates and fences and plant some prickly plants such as those on page 4 to make it harder for burglars to climb over.

come along! Last year we welcomed over 1,500 local friends into our station, and it was lovely to meet so many of you! There will be lots for the youngsters to do so do bring the whole family. We are working hard to bring the following to the open day:

4 - Gravel driveway and path; gravel driveways and paths make it harder for burglars to go undetected. 5 - Security light; install an outside security light so that intruders can’t approach without being seen. 6 - Intruder alarm system; install a burglar alarm system. 7 - Secure shed door and window; always keep your shed locked and secured. Often sheds contain valuables such as power tools and bicycles.

- Police Cars - Custody Tours - Police Dogs (TBC) - Police Horses (TBC) - Police Cats - Police Helicopter - RNLI Boat - Prisoner Transport Van - Riot Cops - CID - London Fire Brigade - London Ambulance Service - Dancing Dan We look forward to welcoming you on the day!

8 - Never leave tools lying around; never leave tools lying around as they can be used as a way of breaking into your home.

Kingston Police, Neighbourhood Watch and Business Watch are all on social media. We would love you to follow us:

LOCAL CHARITY

THIS MONTH’S CHARITY Supplied by:

Please support your local Charity

Jill Fletcher - Fircroft Trust

Did you know that The Fircroft Trust is celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary this year? Over the years we have been providing residential support for adults with learning disabilities and a Resource Centre for adults struggling with a mental health issue. Whilst we are very proud of our past and what we have achieved, we are acutely aware that services for people with a mental health problems continues to be badly underfunded. For that reason we are seeking to raise £50,000 to help us plan for the future. Would you be able to support us? There are many ways we need support: our shop in Tolworth is holding a Fun day (please see the poster above) – would you consider coming along to lend your support? Our

shops play a very important role in raising funds for the charity and also supporting vulnerable volunteers as they help out in the shops. Our Surbiton shop in St Andrew’s Road will also be celebrating on the same day. Do drop by. Besides both shops taking in nearly-new items for sale, our Tolworth shop can also take white goods and electrical items. Larger items can also be collected. Please get in touch by calling 020 8399 3136. Quotes received from service users: “You can feel the warmth and support when you enter the building” “I don’t have to pretend here.” Visit thefircrofttrust.org for more information.

LOVE KINGSTON

The Bentall Family Charitable Trust supports Love Kingston with £5000 donation

Supplied by: Tessa Kind - Love Kingston

Edward Bentall presented Love Kingston with a cheque for £5000 pounds from the Bentall Family Charitable Trust at the Annual Civic Ceremony on Sunday, 11th June 2017, which celebrates the start of the Mayoral Year 2017/18 for the Mayor, Cllr Julie Pickering. Mr Bentall, who has a strong history in Kingston as his family previously owned the Bentall store, is a long-time friend and supporter of Love Kingston. The Trustees have requested that the cheque be put into the legacy fund, which is building up a capital sum where the interest can be used for ongoing future grant making. The Annual Civic Ceremony was a key event for Love Kingston, who are delighted to be supported by the Mayor, Julie Pickering, over the coming year. Julie announced her support for Love Kingston, when she officially came into the mayoral office and will be working closely with Love Kingston over her year in office, to develop and capitalise on any opportunities. Edward Bentall, said: “It is particularly appropriate for the Bentall family to support the Mayor’s Appeal for Love Kingston this year as on 20 July the Bentalls Store will be celebrating 150 years in the Royal Borough. I hope this donation will be a catalyst for others to support the Love Kingston Legacy Fund.” Tessa Kind, Fundraising Manager, Love Kingston, said: “We were delighted to get this mark of support from Edward. Love Kingston is currently ramping up activity. With the support of the Mayor Councillor Julie Pickering this year, we have given ourselves a bold target to be nearing £1million by 2020 but we need your help! So please join us, the Mayor and Edward

KINGSTON ROTARY

Inspiring Learning at all Ages Each year Kingston Rotary Club are extremely honoured to host an evening awards ceremony in the Queen Anne Suite of the Guildhall to celebrate the achievements of a few adult students at Kingston College and Adult Education Centre. 21 students were chosen to receive awards because they have fulfilled personal ambitions in further education in spite of experiencing difficulties and against all the odds. Nominated by their tutors, each student was given a short introduction explaining why they were worthy of the recognition of their efforts, before being presented with a certificate by The Worshipful The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, Councillor Julie Pickering and James her consort. Kingston Rotary Club are always humbled by the tremendous drive the students have to achieve their own goals. Two excepts from these introductions are given below: Sean began his studies with Kingston Adult Education and it was a big step to return to education. At 15 he was assessed as dyslexic and left school. Sean was initially apprehensive but found his tutor to be lovely and supportive. On the wall in his classroom, he noticed a photo of a learner, now working at degree level, shaking hands with the mayor in a ceremony. Discovering that the learner had also started in the class he was now studying in, lit a flame… Sean achieved a nationally recognised Entry 3 qualification, progressed to complete Level 1 and should complete Level 2 with his Writing exam in July. A fellow learner, who Sean has taken the time to motivate and support through her own difficult times sees Sean as a hero.” Lisa had a nasty accident which left her with a chronic ongoing condition and the medication she has to take to manage this affects her memory and often makes learning difficult. At the start of 2014 Lisa achieved her Functional Skills English qualification at Entry 3. Then there was no stopping her! Lisa progressed to complete Level 1 and is now studying at Level 2 in English and undertaking Entry 3 Maths at the same time. Recently, Lisa stated that she wants to ‘go

as far as she can go’ with her learning. She acknowledges the challenges but says that she just doesn’t want to stop – she’s on the road now and she wants to reach as many goals as she can – we have no doubt that she will do just that. Many congratulations on all your achievements, Lisa!” Once the awards are given out and the many photos are taken the students and their families or friends enjoy a delicious buffet and have a chance to chat to The Mayor and other guests. The picture shows all the students with the Mayor and our President Elect, Phillip Holt. If you would like to help your local community by volunteering your skills, why not think about joining our Rotary Club. LOCAL HISTORY

Kingston Riverside

Supplied by: Mike Seigel - Kingston Tour Guides

In the summer months, the riverside in Kingston becomes all the more popular, and the ever-growing number of bars and restaurants are all the busier. Yet there is much history to appreciate as you enjoy a riverside stroll from Queens Promenade through the town to Canbury Gardens, or sit enjoying a drink or meal overlooking the river. Some would like to suppose that Julius Caesar crossed the Thames here, but there is no evidence to support this! But by Saxon times the river was very important, as it marked the boundary between the kingdoms of Wessex and Mercia and also provided a means of transport for goods which greatly boosted the economy in the town.

towards London from the west – only to be cut down and utterly defeated! Kingston was duly rewarded for its loyalty to the crown, as Queen Mary granted them extra market days!

The Domesday Book of 1086 mentions Kingston as having a population of 500, with a Minster Church, five mills and three fisheries. The three fish have become a well-known symbol of the town, and are the emblem of the Tiffin schools. Little more than a century later a wooden bridge was built across the river, making this the only crossing other than London Bridge until Putney Bridge was built around 1730. You can see remains of this mediaeval bridge underneath John Lewis on the riverside (open to the public on Heritage Days). This bridge played a part in the Wyatt Rebellion against Mary Tudor (‘Bloody Mary’) in 1554, as the rebels from Kent tried to cross the river here, but the good citizens of Kingston were loyal to their queen and they cut the bridge down. The rebels did rebuild it and also used boats to get across to what is now Hampton Wick and they marched

ARTS

KAOS Kingston artists, members of Kingston Artists’ Open Studios (KAOS), are all taking a deep breath as life gets back to normal after all the hard work and fun of the two weekends of Open Studios held 11/12 and 17/18 June. Over 100 painters, printmakers, photographers, sculptors, ceramicists, textile artists, glass artists, together with the three Young KAOS winners, showed their work in 17 venues in and around Kingston. All in all it was a great success, and the sun shone down on us, almost too brightly. If you missed us this year don’t be too disappointed because we will be doing Open Studios again next year, probably with even more artists taking part.

Supplied by: Rachel Pearcey - KAOS

We had one or two new venues and one in particular deserves a special mention, The Canbury Pavilion at Canbury Gardens by the Thames. This charming wooden building is a 100 year old bowling pavilion which was rescued by volunteers just weeks before it was due to be demolished and is now run by the Canbury Community Trust with volunteer trustees. The KAOS artists who exhibited there thoroughly enjoyed themselves and their art worked particularly well in the space.

video, ceramics - and the writers were invited to let their imagination take wing and interpret our works. The writings and images were then shown, side by side, at the Fitzrovia Gallery in Whitfield Street, central London. It was fascinating and even quite startling to read what and how our works were viewed and seen. We plan to have another union next year where the KAOS members will be visually interpreting the Creative Writers work, it is a fascinating exercise.

Earlier in June we staged a sale of original, postcard sized works of art in aid of Momentum, a local charity which supports families whose children have cancer or a life-limiting condition. Kingston artists and children from Kingston primary schools drew, printed, collaged and painted hundreds of cards of cats and dogs and we raised nearly £300 on a very windy day outside All Saints Church in Kingston. We are pleased to be linked with Momentum and we hope to be holding more events together in the near future.

KAOS is going from strength to strength as more and more artists and makers join, and we are proud and delighted that we are becoming a part of the wonderful diversity that makes up Kingston. www.kingstonartistsopenstudios.co.uk

In May we linked up with the Creative Writing group at Kingston Adult Education in Surbiton. Twenty-six Kingston artists produced artworks paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, 15

GARDENING

July Gardening Tips

Supplied by:

LEARNING

Maths Tricks for Tiny Fingers

Supplied by: Celia Osborne Numberworks’n’words

Should children use fingers for sums? The education world is split. Traditionalists say ‘no’, but here at NumberWorks’nWords we say ‘that’s what they’re for!’ Yes, children should memorise ‘numberbonds’, but if they don’t know them yet or their brain doesn’t work that way, fingers are a great way in. Here’s some tips Teach your child what 4,5,6 or 8 ‘looks like’ on fingers. Numbers to 5 are easy. Get your 3 or 4 year old to hold up 3, 4 or 5 fingers – it’s a game – who can do it first? When that’s easy, teach them more: 6 is simple – all from one hand +1 (5+1), 7 = one hand +2, 8 = one hand +3, 9 = one hand +4 and ten - both hands! Sounds obvious? – NO! My many years as a primary school teacher told me that so many children don’t know this instantly. Does it matter? – well yes! If a reception child can put up 3 fingers, then count on 4 she can see at once that she’s made 7 (one hand +2). A child that doesn’t know, must start counting all her fingers from 1 again! Sadly I’ve seen 7 year olds do just that.

make 10, sums to 20 is easy. Hey presto – even if those individual fussy facts are hard to memorise, they can be worked out in a jiffy. Do older children need to use them? Well no not really, but let’s face it, 52 - 5 is often quicker on fingers than remembering. For more help with little maths, middle sized maths, even algebra and trig, NumberWorks’nWords is a great place to learn, improve confidence and even extend the high achiever. Ps. We do reading, writing and spelling too!

The next step is easy. Hold the big number in your head and count on that number of fingers. Numbers above 10 – no problem, you won’t run out of fingers. Numbers which make 10 Simple – you know you’ve got 10 fingers, so 3 fingers up and 7 fingers down obviously makes 10 if you use all your fingers. Great for adding and taking away and no need to count. Borrow a friend’s 10 fingers to make 20. Hopefully with a few goes at this a year 1 or 2 child will see that if they know how to

HEALTH & WELLBEING

Why Having Expectations is not so Great

Supplied by: Claire Dyson - Untangle Your Life

Working with clients I notice that expectation not matching reality can be a source of frustration, anger, resentment, disappointment and anxiety. “That is not how we roll!”: Expecting other people to behave the same way we do means anything from mild surprise to incandescent rage when they don’t pack the dishwasher the “right way”, observe our road-using etiquette or behave as we do in relationships. One partner wants hugs all the time, having grown up in a demonstrative family where this was normal, their partner experiences this as odd having been shown no affection as a child. The values, manners, rules and experiences each of us absorbed growing up are different. Understanding this doesn’t mean tolerating behaviour you find odd, just allows a more manageable emotional reaction to it. Self-fulfilling prophecy: We can go into situations thinking we know what they’ll be like e.g. “my family are so difficult this BBQ is going to be a nightmare”. Consequently, we interpret others’ behaviour towards us as difficult, respond accordingly and, you guessed it, have a terrible time. Equally we can go to a party or movie expecting it will be wonderful, or that our next date will be “the one”, and come away disappointed. Go with an open mind, the intention that you will have an experience and see what happens. “That’s not fair!”: We work hard, delay gratification, live according to our values and rules and life goes well so we think we’ve made a bargain that if we do what we “should” life will be good to us in return. When life does throw a curved ball it is doubling devastating because it seems unfair. So plan for the future yet “live a little” enjoying the people, activities and 19

possessions we have in the here and now to build happy memories to sustain (and have fewer regrets) should change come. Goodenough: Sometimes we get so hung up on how we expect ourselves, our children, our parents or other people to be, what we want from them e.g. “I’m [insert age], I should have done better”, academically brilliant, calm in a crisis, always having the answers for us, we lose sight of who they actually are. Stop wanting people, including yourself, to be what they are not and appreciate them for what they are, for the qualities, strengths and talents that they do have. www.untangleyourlife.co.uk

HOME

Don’t Sweat Staying in! This time of year can cause issues for everyone. With the higher temperatures both inside and out, it can be hard to stay motivated and comfortable. There isn’t much you can do about the time of year but there are a few ways to help keep your home a little more chill. Add some shade You can reduce any incoming heat from the outside by installing blinds which will keep the sun at bay without the insulation of a thick pair of curtains, or without omitting too much light. If you have an air con unit, try to keep it shaded aswell so that it works at the best level. Even planting trees outside can help! Prioritise Leave as many chores as you can until later! There’s no use getting worked up on building a bookcase or repainting - save it for your next weekend off when the weather gets cooler. Just focus on those time-sensitive things like keeping pests at bay or Summer gardening jobs. At very least, start early in the day when the temperatures aren’t as high.

Supplied by: Leanna Carl - Omni Local Ventilate Invest in a good quality, be it a tower fan, standing fan, desk fan, or a no blade-cooling system. Though electricity bills can be costly when operating fans, reduced heating costs this time of the year should hopefully balance things out. Having a window fan can also be a great way to keep the air flowing, as long as you keep them downwind and facing out. Dehumidify Create a less-humid atmosphere and add delicate fragrances using essential oils, as this can really freshen up your home, especially in stuffy areas or when you don’t want to keep windows open too long for fear of insects. Get some help in home cleanliness this Summer from companies like Three Saints.

TRAVEL

From Sydney’s Lights to Bush & Beach

Supplied by: Paul Smith - WOT Travel

New South Wales is best known for its iconic capital, Sydney. But what’s beyond the city? Did you know, for example, that it has rainforest, outback & snowy mountains as well as beaches and cities? Sydney Sydney’s attractions are world-famous - the Sydney Harbour Bridge & the Sydney Opera House for starters. Other popular activities in the city include a Sydney Harbour cruise, a visit to Taranga Zoo for Aussie wildlife & elevated city views, exploring bustling Darling Harbour’s shops, bars, restaurants & museums, like the Maritime Museum. Sydney’s Islands are a popular itinerary stop - I suggest visiting ex-convict colony Cockatoo Island for a taste of Sydney’s rich history, or Shark Island for its relaxing beaches. A network of ferries takes visitors to the islands & beaches - with Bondi & Manly top sandy spots. Sydney’s renowned shopping ranges from international high street brands to designer boutiques in the Queen Victoria Building. Its dining scene takes in high-end spots like Bennelong at the Sydney Opera House, to street food at Central Park’s Spice Alley to BBQs by the beach. The Blue Mountains Just a 90 minute drive from Sydney, this beautiful region offers bush walking trails, kayaking, rock climbing, 4WD excursions & biking. Visitors can stop at Scenic World, which offers multiple ways to see the Blur Mountains, including via cable car & railway. The most famous sight is the Three Sisters, a rock formation at Echo Point, Katoomba. Hunter Valley Comprising over 120 wineries, this region is most famous for its Semillon grapes. Visitors can taste wines at the cellar door along with plenty of other local produce ranging from olives to cheese. There are a host of gastronomic experiences to book in advance of your trip, along with balloon flights & even vineyard touring by helicopter. The Legendary Pacific Coast Drive This 930 km coastal driving route runs between Sydney & Brisbane. Year-round, it’s great for beaches & nature lovers. Want to Invest in Property?

Supplied by: Alan Frost – Simplify Property

Property is part of nearly every wealthy person’s portfolio, and plenty of ordinary people have seen their wealth increase, based solely on the increase in value of their property. Imagine if they owned several properties that enjoyed that kind of growth? That was then, this is now, and the vibe coming from the media about property has grown steadily more negative. That would be enough to put a lot of people off, but the smart people can sniff an opportunity. There are still a few alternatives giving the return

SYNERGY

The Journey to spirituality!

Supplied by: Lorraine Tarbitten - LLP

Is it to meditation? Do we attend a retreat and contemplate our lives & the world etc.? Is it the endless trail of books, study groups, courses and events? I believe they are all stepping stones on our pathway, but I believe what we seek really seek is connection to who we really are; which is to be found within us and not outside of us. Well that sounds simple… but is it? Do we understand what the end result would look like, how to be at peace of mind, body and spirit no matter what is going on around us? There is a journey for all of us; what is the spark that gets us moving into the reality that allows peace of mind, body and Spirit no matter what is happening in world, especially as the time become turbulent for so many. The only truth is the Spiritual being within the body. And if we can come to that understanding we then know we are always safe from any of the fears or worries we may have from debt to despair. My journey has been long and arduous; I am not sure my ego has finally let me have total peace and awakening; and I will soon know if the trauma of the world takes over again and I step into the drama of any situation. But for today I am at peace allowing whatever shows up to show up. Having a view of the world with endless possibilities and no limits, no fears, not much planning as everything will just take care of itself. Connecting to my spiritual guides just to saviour the feeling of

37

their guidance and protection. The moments of being the spiritual person in the human body gets better every time I remind myself of the total truth (as it is for me) and enjoy the love and peace I feel. Showing love to everything and person that is my view; forgiving and accepting. Is our spiritual purpose is just to be spiritual and see the truth, allowing fears to go? Could we be free knowing there is no death as the spirit lives on. Grief eases as we know our loved ones have moved to a place of bliss and back home with our soul families and maybe when it’s time we could crossover with grace and ease without sickness and disease with no reason to fear it. Are you ready to step into the path of spirituality? Then let me know if I can help! I would like to offer 1 client session per week with a donation to a wonderful charity: Transforming Autism - www. transformingautism.co.uk Thank you - Email: Lorraine@the-lppartnership.com Tel: 07737548132

COMPETITION REVIEW

The George Evelyn Pub and Gardens For a lovely surprise, go to The George Evelyn Pub in Long Ditton. With new management, the place has changed dramatically. Top quality restaurant food, a great menu selection with a super bar and kids menu too. The ingredients are sourced locally from Surrey and Kent, as is the beer. All the food is organic and 100% gluten free; they are also growing their own herbs for the future. This is a child friendly pub with a large grassy area, bouncy castle, swings, slide etc. Bar menu, indoor restaurant and meeting/function room with a covered veranda. Did you know George Evelyn was the first person given permission to manufacture gun powder in UK; it brought a large amount of employment to Long Ditton in the 1600s. We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh ingredients with starters of succulent grilled scallop with avocado cream and chilli dressing, Fraisse & Bacon Salad with poached egg. A gourmet presentation. It was difficult to choose the main, with a great variety of both vegetarian, fish and meat dishes. The tasty Grilled Sword Fish, Seabass with Crab and The George Evelyn Fish Pie were all beautifully presented with delicious sauces and fresh, crispy

salad. The desserts were difficult to fit in after such a lovely lunch but the selection was varied and very appetising. Overall an extensive fine cuisine served by very helpful and friendly staff. Whether you’re looking for a business function venue or family meal this summer - with entertainment for the kids outside, or just going for a quiet drink, TGE has it all. Thank you to Francois and his staff for a wonderful experience. Free parking on site and surrounding roads. CONGRATULATIONS TO LAST MONTH’S WINNER, JAMIE KAPADIA – WE HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT TIME AT STRAWBERRY HILL GOLF CLUB!
