Where there is no vision the people perish. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) Sight is a function of the eyes while vision is a function of the heart. Vision is seeing the future before it comes into being (Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”). Vision is the ability to see farther than your eyes can look. It is vision that makes the unseen visible and the unknown possible. 1: WHY DO YOU NEED A VISION? • God does not speak to you about where you are He speaks to you about where you are going because where you are going is far more important than where you are. Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” • Genesis 12 Abraham. Genesis 37 Joseph; Judges 6:12 Gideon. 2: YOU SHOULD HAVE A BIG VISION! • Isaiah 6:1 You have to see God as high and lifted up. Ephesians 3:20 Exceedingly! • Not just a God that is good for emergencies and problems! • Your vision determines your destiny. (Numbers 13:33) We were in our own sight as grasshoppers! • Vision is the key to your future. 3: YOUR FUTURE LIES WITHIN YOU! • Your future is not ahead of you, rather it lies within you. The decisions you take and act on today, create your tomorrow (Isaiah 1:19 “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;”) 2

4: YOU ARE PERFECT FOR YOUR GOD GIVEN VISION. • Stop wishing you were somebody else. Psalm 139:14 You are fearfully and wonderfully made. • God has given everything you need for what he called you to do (Exodus 31:2) Bezaleel. • This is not the season in your life to hate yourself, this is the season to discover yourself. • You have too much purpose to die. You will die when you have finished and not a day before. 5: VISION REQUIRES ACTION TO BECOME A REALITY! • Vision – What do you see? • Purpose – Why do you see it? • Goals - How are you going to get there? • Set a vision for 10 years from now. • Set long range and short range goals. • Stop dreaming about stuff you can finish in 1 week.

Beautiful Feet! “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7 NIV This last December Beth, Morgan and I were blessed to be able to serve for a day and do a Christmas concert at Agora Ministries in San Antonio with Claudine Ackerman, the Audorff’s, and Brooks. A few weeks ago Beth and I were able to go to Germany to visit the Leighty’s who just celebrated their 5th anniversary in ministering to our US military personnel outside of Stuttgart and then to Hungary to minister in music and word with the Gracza’s and Morgan’s. 28 years ago Paul and Jocelyn Gracza started the Hungarian Pentecostal Theological College in Budapest and they have seen literally hundreds of their graduates sent out as pastors and ministers in many Hungarian churches. The gospel, the good news about Jesus, is the most precious commodity that exists in this present life and sharing this gospel is the most valued and selfless activity that we can engage in. According to the Prophet Isaiah the feet that carry this gospel are beautiful. It takes someone hearing God’s call, someone else joining in prayer, teaching and preparing, and others who give financially to join together to send them in order to make this happen. We got to see the fruit of our children’s BGMC coins, our youth’s dollars for Speed the Light vehicles and equipment, our ladies who have raised funds to furnish the homes of our missionaries and our men supporting various literature development ventures through Light for the Lost. My heart is full of gratitude to those who have been called and to those who stayed home to support both in prayer and financially. Thank you for your sacrifice! This is the heartbeat of the Assemblies of God fellowship, taking this gospel to the whole world, whether at home or abroad starting new churches and ministries that reach and disciple others so they can reach and disciple others. In the light of eternity this is all that matters and being engaged in ministry activity brings meaning and fulfillment in this life. Philemon 6 NIV “I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.” It is always an honor to witness first hand the fruit of this missional process. I want to encourage you to make missions a part of your discipleship and growth process to those to whom God has given you oversight. They need this spiritual challenge and nourishment in order to grow and mature in their walk with Jesus. 1. Have a missionary share with your church or in your home groups. 2. Make missions education and support a part of your church’s spiritual diet. 3. Provide a hands on missions opportunity for your people whether at home or abroad. There are many missions opportunities right there in the city where you live or you can schedule a team to travel and serve in an area where one of our AG missionaries are assigned. Listed are our South Texas Assemblies of God missionaries both at home and abroad. Take a minute and pray for our missionaries. Please invite those who are on furlough and raising their support to come and speak to your church or simply visit with them personally over a cup of coffee or tea. If you don’t support them financially and with prayer begin to do so. And if you currently support them please consider an annual cost of living increase of 5-10%. Step out in faith and watch what God will do! Your Fellow Servant, Pastor Don 6

Donna Barrett Elected General Secretary The AG Executive Presbytery has elected Donna L. Barrett to serve as the 11th general secretary.

The Assemblies of God Executive Presbytery has unanimously elected Donna L. Barrett to serve as the 11th general secretary of the U.S. Fellowship. With this election, the 21-member executive board fills the unexpired term of James T. Bradford, following his midterm resignation to pursue full-time pastoral ministry at Central Assembly in Springfield, Missouri. Barrett’s ministry includes service on the Executive Presbytery of the Ohio Ministry Network and on the General Presbytery of the Assemblies of God. She was saved and baptized in the Spirit in 1975. After serving as a paralegal, she lived out the call of God on her life to serve in full-time ministry. Barrett became an Assemblies of God minister in 1988. Serving 10 years as youth pastor in Youngstown, Ohio she then served seven years as associate pastor in Cleveland before planting Rockside Church in 2002. “Through her service as a church planter, district leader, and general presbyter, Donna has shown humility paired with a special gifting for leadership,” says General Superintendent Doug Clay. “I’ve seen God use her time and time again to speak wisdom into difficult circumstances at the district and national level.” Barrett’s ministry has been marked with a passion for prayer. For the past two years, she has opened the legislative session of the Ohio House of Representatives in prayer. Additionally, Barrett has led the National Day of Prayer observances in her area for the past 15 years. “I have been consistently impressed with Donna’s wisdom, grace, and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit,” Bradford says. “This Fellowship will be blessed by her anointed leadership.” Barrett will serve as the first woman on the Assemblies of God Executive Leadership Team. “While Donna was not selected on the basis of her gender, I know this moment will be meaningful for many women who feel God’s calling on their lives,” Clay says. The Assemblies of God has ordained women in ministry from its founding in 1914. Many women have played foundational roles in the Movement. Currently, 24 percent of Assemblies of God ministers are women. “I’m humbled at this invitation to serve a Fellowship I love,” Barrett says. “I look forward to what God has in His heart for the future of the Assemblies God and I’m honored to be part of this outstanding team of leaders.” As general secretary, Barrett will oversee the credentialing of ministers, church chartering, the collection of official statistics, and the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center. Her term begins on June 1.

Something from Nothing By Kendall Reavis “In the beginning God created…” I love that God created something out of nothing. Our goal in Church Planting is to create “something from nothing”. We hope to plant new churches that will reach new people. Studies have shown that new churches typically tend to reach more new people per capita in the first 10 to 15 years than they do once they have become more established. New people moving into a community, the existence of various sub-cultures, and generational change are all reasons that we need to keep planting new congregations, even in communities where we might have an established church. Currently we are praying that God would open doors for several new churches in several communities. For example, we need to plant a Vietnamese congregation in the Greater Houston area. Houston is the third largest population of Vietnamese in the USA. A planter into this community must have the language and cultural understanding. Please pray that God will send this planter at the right time, and that God will provide all the resources necessary. There are several communities where God is stirring us to plant a new congregation, even though we have churches nearby. One great example is in the Rio Grande Valley. The McAllen-Edinburg-Mission area has experienced a population explosion over the past 25 years and is now the 5th largest Metropolitan area in Texas. Our church planting has not kept pace with this growth. We need God to call planters to this wonderful opportunity. Others communities on our heart are: Galveston, Victoria, Corpus Christi, Bulverde, Ingram, and Laredo. For these new works to start, some churches will be required to release and send out committed disciples to form the launch teams. Others will choose to financially invest. However, I firmly believe what a church sows into a church plant, it will reap kingdom harvest elsewhere. Would you help us to pray these “somethings from nothing” into existence? Kendall is the Church Planting Facilitator working with new church planting projects all across South Texas. Feel free to contact him: kkreavis@yahoo.com.
