In# my# recent# trip# with# 42# South# Texas# Pilgrims,) we) visited) the) ancient) sight) of) Jericho.) ) Of) course,) I) remembered) the) victory( of( the( walls( tumbling( down( as( I( walked' around' that' ancient' ruin,' but' what%my%mind%went%to%was%found%in%the% book$ of$ Joshua,$ chapter$ 4.$ $ In$ the$ first$ seven% verses,% it% says,% after& Joshua& AND& THE$PEOPLE$had$crossed$the$Jordan,$the$ Lord%gave%Joshua%another%command.%%He% said,& “Choose& twelve& men& from& among& the$people,$one$from$each$tribe,$and$tell$ them% to% take% up% twelve% stones% from% the% middle& of& the& Jordan& from& right& where& the$priests$stood$and$to$carry$them$over$ with%you%and%put%them%down%at%the%place! where%you%stay%tonight.”! !! Sherry Turner came to the District Office in March of 1994 to serve as our Receptionist. When I came a week later as CE Director, Sherry became the first Administrative Assistant for the CE Department. After I left, Sherry then served in that role with CE Director Terry Richardson. In 2001 Brother Chapin asked Sherry to serve as his Administrative Assistant to the District Executive Secretary-Treasurer. She served in that role with Brother Chapin, Brother Barker and now me. What a blessing she has been to our District, assisting in all the duties of administrative assistant to the Executive Secretary-Treasurer’s office including helping literally 100’s of you through the credentialing process. She mentioned to me that this is what she will miss the most, her interaction with you and each year seeing the group of those being ordained. Sherry will be retiring this year and this will be her last year at District Council. Be sure to express your appreciation to her and wish her a happy retirement! Thank you, Sherry, for your hard work, dedication, and being a blessing in the Kingdom!

The Summer Institute for Islamic Studies at AGTS (SIIS) equips believers with the skills and knowledge to effectively engage and minister to Muslims. Whether you’re a minister, layperson, chaplain or missionary, you’ll benefit from our Islamic Studies faculty that represents five doctorates and nearly 300 years of experience in global Muslim contexts. It was that dynamic, global perspective that made all the difference for Patrice Chinje, AGTS student from Cameroon, Central Africa: “Despite having lived, studied and worked with Muslims, I was not able to engage in any fruitful encounters UNTIL I attended the Summer Institute for Islamic Studies at AGTS.” SIIS courses are taught in a modular format at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary campus. _________________________________ Article IX, Finances: Section 2, District Office Support, Paragraphs (a) The District Office shall be supported by a monthly offering of at least three fourths (75%) of the tithes of every minister (except Senior Retired Ministers) from both secular and ministerial income. If a minister fails to cooperate with this plan, he shall be called to give a reasonable explanation to the District Officials. (b) It is recommended that the District Office shall be supported by one percent (1%) of the monthly general fund income of each of the churches of the South Texas District Council.
