HOOK FORGING EXTREME STRENGTH
At Mustad, we pride ourselves in a history of innovation that puts emphasis on the strength and durability of fishing gear, which anglers demand with the fight is on. Throughout the years, fishermen and women have depended on Mustad hooks and tackle to hold strong through propriety durable hook points to Nor-Tempered wire. Forging has been a strengthening technique for a long time, yet Mustad has engineered processes that proves once again the brand's dominance in fish hook manufacturing.
NEW
ULTRA-NOR FORGE
Our heritage in innovation has led to yet another industry-first in cutting-edge machinery designed to maximize wire strength and minimize fish loss. Mustad’s patented Ultra-Nor forging technology presses a channel into the wire, strengthening the wire by increasing the diameter where it matters most. Applied to legendary Mustad hook styles, Ultra-Nor improves pull strength up to 20%.
STANDARD FORGE
In order to increase pull strength, Mustad has utilized an effective standard forging process for a select range of hooks for many years. Without adding more material or increasing the overall diameter, forging the wire adds strength along a single plane, making this especially popular among heavy saltwater anglers. Combined with Nor-Tempering, Mustad hooks are built to be trusted.
NOR-TEMPERING
In traditional Mustad fashion, our tempering process is a careful, slow and steady process for a stronger wire. A core aspect of all Mustad hooks, the NorTempering is 30% stronger than competitor wire without being brittle. Patience leads to perfection.
TRIPLE GRIP
®
Mustad Triple Grip® hooks combine exceptional hooking and holding capability with outstanding strength. They feature a precise shape that almost “locks” a fish into the elbow of the bend, making it virtually impossible for the fish to throw the hook.
INLINE TREBLE
Made with the Mustad’s proprietary automatic brazing technology, the eye is positioned inline with one leg of the hook, allowing the hook to naturally hold straight to the belly of a lure, giving a more realistic and stable suspension display. The first and only, Mustad has designed a brazing process that is done consistently by hook-producing machinery to create the best inline hook.
DEMON CIRCLE
When Mustad introduced the original circle hook, catch and release fishing changed forever. Endlessly imitated, but never matched, Mustad Demon Circle hooks have the optimal 3-degree downward point that masterfully grabs onto the fish’s mouth as the hook rolls to the corner, leading in the best hook-up ratios on the market.

HOOK POINT TECHNOLOGY
CLASSIC POINT
Our legendary classic point, also known as a cut point, masters the art of durability and simplicity for anglers worldwide. The process for classic point hooks takes coiled wire into the machine, delivering a hook on the other side, just as we did back in 1877. The point is made with a cutting action twice to create the knife-like edge that penetrates over and over.
NEEDLE POINT
For anglers requiring hooks that maximize penetration ability, needle points are the only choice. Mustad’s multi-stage sharpening process meticulously grinds the point to perfection to maintain as much of the wire as possible while reaching a single, ultra-sharp point tip. After the point is made, the hook-shaping machining process begins.
PREMIUM NEEDLEPOINT
OPTI-ANGLE™ TECHNOLOGY
Passion for hooks runs through our veins and our thirst for excellence drives our innovation. The next evolution of our industry-leading durable premium needlepoint technology comes AlphaPoint ® 4.8. Our state-of-the-art, three-stage Opti-Angle™ sharpening technology, used to sharpen both AlphaPoint® and UltraPoint® , removes less metal from the point than traditional methods – without compromising sharpness. As the sister point to UltraPoint ® , AlphaPoint ® joins the hook point family as an alternate premium needlepoint, another solution to the never-satisfied task of landing huge fish. Each with their own benefits and applications, the Opti-Angle™ family will always beat the competition in durability whether fishing in the deep or amongst cover.
Wide gap allows bait to swim freely. In-line turned up eye provides great leverage for power hook-sets. Use heavier wire hooks for bigger fish. Lighter wire hooks allow natural bait presentation.
