About myself: Free spirited, love to set new goals and try new things, and not walk the beaten path. I am a person who believes in following my heart because we only live once. In this humungous universe where earth is revolving around in space, we don’t even know where we are, that is what inspires all my unconventional dreams. A new way of living where we don’t hold ourselves back because of tiny problems we face! That is true me. That is the secret, the normal details you can find on Google, this you won’t. And this is the very reason, that early last year I set myself some New Year resolution that completely changed my life and paved my path to become Miss India Global 2015 and Miss Sydney Australia Elegance 2015. My Qualifications: Apart from having a Bachelor in Nursing, my other qualifications include Excellence in physics in high school giving rise to immense love for physics, thanks to my Physics teacher, Shailender Sangwan! An eyes for art, painting and colours with a blend of love for dancing with emotions. And the art of loving people and cherishing them, because in the end even if you didn’t have any qualifications but you knew how to love people, you have definitely lived a great life. Always leave people happier than you first met them. Favourite Cuisine: For me food is the essence of life. It makes your happier and blesses your soul. And as we know there are more than one kind of happiness and blessings around. So I love to try all kinds of food and explore. If I had to pick one, that would be unfair. There are so many dishes from different kind of cuisine that I love and crave! What I would like to say to the world: Thank you, thank you so much for providing me with all the love, support and challenges. The hardship and problems I faced definitely helped me become a stronger person but what I thank you world, is for giving me the people who taught me that having a kind heart and caring can win a million hearts!

raditionally, the fashion industry has been dominated by younger models for one simple reason; the ideas of beauty, fashion and style were exclusively resreved for the youth. However in recent times this notion that only young models are able to work the camera has been challenged by the increase in older models with more experience on their side. Angelique has been working as a French teacher in Luxembourg for some time now. Her fascination and interest in the fashion industry is a reason she credits for working as a model; now for just over 2 years. Despite the fact that she is relativley new in this industry she has worked in two fashion weeks; one in Belgium and one in Luxembourg. She has also worked with several upcoming European fashion designers as well as with a few photographers in Belgium and France. Her dream is to be able to work as a full time model and work with bigger brand names.

39

40 “This photo shoot represents the power of mature women [models]. While young models have the natural beauty that comes with youth, they mostly miss some life experience that we as older models bring. For example, some untold history in the eyes, something that only older models can bring to the photography shoot. Not because they are better or worse, just because they have many more memories, some good and bad ones.

he model name is Hombeline de Moreau, and she is half Thai, half Vietnamese. She started as a model with a friend of hers, Emilie Bleus. She helps her to realise her dream, taking her with her to a photo shoot with Antonio graphiste. Hombeline really liked this first experience and decided to keep going. “I think disability is only in the mind and only the actual person with disability can decide should he/she be different from others and feel sorry for himself or live normal live just like anybody else!

LANA Salome Kurasidze

70

My name is Lana Salome Kurasidze, I’m 31, live in Dublin, Ireland. I’m 10 year Glioblastoma Multiforme survivor and have neurological conditioncerebellum ataxia. At the moment I’m wheelchair bound. I’m a brain injury patient,so my legs are not paralyzed and with my self-rehabilitation I’ve gained ability to stand holding on to something, and hopefully will get back to walking! I have YouTube channel as well (same as my name),where people can see my exercises and maybe find something beneficial. I was modelling before my disability, first was thinking it is impossible for me to do modelling again while in my current condition, but later I realized that I am well able for that! What I often facing, that woman in the wheelchair is not considered as fullyfledged woman.. Silly stereotype exists in the world, despite we are so loyal to

71

72 everything nowadays! I want to break this stereotype! I’m just as any other able-bodied woman, just with some specialties and I really believe that NOBODY should be considered by outer look, by wheelchair I’m in, but only by personality! I get judged even by other wheelchair bound people, usually I am considered as mentally disabled, as I push my wheelchair with legs (like walking in sitting), I have slight speech disorder and I’m patient of Brain Injury department. I think what is happening just not fair and I’m sure I’m not the only one in the world!!! I did research myself, read comments, total is 1-people with disability can’t be sexy, maybe only for perverts.. I totally disagree!

Recently I’ve done new photo-session to prove my point. This photo-session is a scream from the depths of my soul!!! Photographer: David Frain Hair&Make-up: Deborah Leonard My Personal Assistant: Veronica Cuthbert (I know, a bit unusual, but she was very involved in process)

AUDREY CHABOTIER

75

I am Audrey Chabotier, I am 24 years old. I have always been passionate by the fashion world. Everything start when I was 18, a photographer saw my picture on a blog, and asked me to do some pictures with him. As the picture were not bad, others photographers start to contact me. I follow commercials studies but even if they proposed me a job in the area, I chose to refuse it to work in fashion as a model and it seems that was a good idea! Now, I have an agent and I am working for different underwear brands, advertising and other ready to wear brands.

What to wear... with Valerie Moreau

BELGIAN STYLE As the Ondine team came to visit me some days ago to Belgium, I was thinking about the kind of clothes you can wear to get a “Belgian style and I decide to write about some Belgian brand that are still small ones and you have no chance to get to know if you are not in Belgium. I think it is a shame because they are quite innovative but easy to wear at the same time. So here we go with the Belgian brand tour:

79

Belge une fois, couldn’t be more representative of Belgium. Natacha and Arthur are 2 young graphic designers for publicity and cinema, with a mind full of imagination and creativity. Their brand “belge une fois” is a history of what we called in Belgium “ la belgitude “, mix between the words “Belgium” and “attitude”. They use lots of typical sentences from Belgium, to turn some common object into something special, always with humour and as they say, “made with love”. www.belgeunefois.com

Be Burlin is a true revolution, A range of bags essential to any contemporary woman. The passionate, the fashion enthusiast and the epicurean who believes that combining aesthetics and practical life is no contradiction but merely common sense. Her best ally for the unexpected, the Be Burlin bag is a champion in adaptation: in just one click, it turns into a backpack! Ingenious, it doesn’t give up on style and if it could talk, it would probably tell us that “A smile is the prettiest thing a woman can wear” Wouldn’t you agree? Where to find them? www.beburlin.com

The Belgian fashion designer, Barbara Romano bought the Italian brand Vela Lingerie 10 years ago. This brand created in 1926 in Italy, where the products are still made by hand. All the models are realised with the special size of the customers in the Vela Shop, near Charleroi but you can also buy Barbara’s creations in her e-shop! Tatiana Silva, ex Miss Belgium is the new muse of the collection Vela Rosa, made for the breast cancer victims. barbara@velalingerie.be www.velalingerie.com

M

ore than four years ago, time has passed since the day I started to take pictures continuously - every week, sometimes of dozens of different things. Because of this time I have spent practicing, I can pursue photography as a profession. Photography for me is not just a hobby or a livelihood, but also something more, it allows me to show how I see the world. In fact because it means so much more to me than just a hobby I started to practice photography professionally. This is my favourite activity, of which I follow the classic time-tested rules and adapt them to their creation and global innovation. I try to use only proven quality and the highest standard of equipment. That is why i can always guarantee the same consistent , but not the cheapest, most effective photographic solution. Unfortunately, I cannot lower the rates, but I am always ready to find a mutually attractive price. Before photographing I discuss every detail with the client, even invisible nuances. I always have to know what the client wants. I am most interested in the client – his/her character, a psychological portrait, enlightenment moment etc. I think everyone at some point can open up and have time to uncover their everyday masks. I like to capture this moment in my photography. I like to think of this as my way of communicating through my photography. Ireland is such a small country so the competition among photographers is tough. On the other hand, it is also an advantage, because word of mouth is spread quickly amongst clients which bring up the reputation of good photographers. Satisfied customers are the best and most effective

advertisement. Also communication on a photo shoot with the model is very important. Unfortunately for the majority of photographers it is difficult to communicate with models. Most photographers go deep into the more technical parameters of the photo shoot, and don’t pay attention to how uncomfortable the model may be. Sincere attention, friendliness, flexibility helps people relax. It is better to sit down and chat with the model in order to reveal your own and their personality, which I think is the most important thing in photography. If you photograph what the customer wants, rather than the principled doing of the photographic style, he/she evaluates and recommends you to other photographers. I learned mostly from books and videos on websites such as “YouTube”. I would watch videos of photo shoots being filmed back stage. I also have had a little work done with several photographic workshops to see how the photo shoots should go and how to

81

interact with models and clients. Photographer’s work often looks charming with beautiful people, the job schedule, and the ability to express themselves. But, as with every job, photography has its own drawbacks. The most difficult part is probably the fact that it is not always the suitable time for my folder inspirations. The customer is not interested in the photographers mood and whether he or she has a vision for the photo session. Sometimes because of this photos cannot find the correct harmony, or may no longer seem like such a good idea. Therefore, if you want to create something original and exclusive the photographer should go in to the photo shoot with a clear head, so that they can think outside of the box to break the stereotypes. I do not think that some photographers are better or more accomplished by good luck than others, but it can depend on

83

84 whether or not the photographer’s work is appealing to customers who buy his/ hers pictures. I think breaking stereotypes is perhaps a good idea. It helps photographers to stand out, and give customers an unexpected result of the shoot. This is the essence of photography - stand out from the crowd, to draw attention to themselves and to successfully market their talent.
