EXIT STAGE Black Deer is cancelled for yet another year

ORGANISERS of the Black Deer music festival, that was due to kick off in Eridge next week, say they are ‘beyond devastated’ at having to cancel the event for the second year running. The announcement came after PM Boris Johnson pushed back the planned ending of all Covid restrictions from June 21 to July 19 on Monday evening.

But we’ll be back in 2022.

We’ll soon be sharing the next steps for Black Deer Festival 2022 with all you wonderful ticket-holders who stuck with us. We’ll be in touch very soon.”

‘Van Morrison and Robert Plant had been expected to draw crowds of 20,000’ The Americana music festival, first held in 2018, was due to run from June 25-27. It was expected to see more than thousands descend on Eridge Park. Covid restrictions mean it could only go ahead by limiting numbers to 4,000. It is the second time the festival has had to be postponed with 2020’s event rescheduled to this year due to Covid. Acts including Van Morrison and former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant, had been expected to draw a crowd of up to 20,000 people, but in a statement, organisers said yesterday

after recognising a need in the area to support households with a regular source of healthy food for those that cannot afford it. Since then, it has gone on to provide thousands of meals each year to needy families and saw its busiest year during the pandemic where it provided more than 90,000 meals to hard up households.

Olga was awarded the MBE not just for founding Nourish but also for her other charity work setting up Charity Recruitment Search, working for Trustees Unlimited and giving her time to trustee roles at Nourish, Institute of Fundraising, Sightsavers, Healthprom and SPANA since retirement.
