Ten-day closure of A21 to start Valentine’s weekend By Andy Tong A NEW date for planned works to the A21, which will see the road close in both directions for almost ten days, has been announced. Around 35,000 vehciles a day use the 63-mile stretch of trunk road that goes from Hastings to London, many of which will be forced through Tonbridge during the planned closure. Drivers in Tunbridge Wells or Tonbridge wishing to head north towards the Dartford tunnel or M25 will face a 30-minute diversion before they can get on to the A21 at the Sevenoaks and Weald Interchange. Drivers heading south will still be able to join the A21 at the Vauxhall Lane Interchange in Tonbridge or at Pembury

as usual. Highways England says shutting the road is necessary so they can repair the Medway viaduct and nearby Manor Farm subway. This means that the dual carriageway will be closed in both directions between Sevenoaks Weald Interchange and

The works, previously scheduled for January 8-13, were then postponed because of ‘supply chain issues’. A spokesperson for the agency said this week: “We have scheduled this work in one go rather than over consecutive weekends following feedback on previously planned timings.

A TALENTED young photographer found dead in woodland in Tunbridge Wells, died from an overdose of beta blockers, an inquest has heard. The body of Sabrina Goacher, 30, was discovered in a secluded area near Mount Ephraim and Church Road at 8.47pm on Monday, August 19. She had been reported missing the day before when she was last seen walking along St John’s Road at around 6.17am. A local man in his 30s, who was known to Ms Goacher, was arrested following the discovery of her body but later released without charge.

Copycat fears as two men fall from car parks in town By Robert Forrester ONE man has died and another was left with life threatening injuries following separate incidents at two town centre car parks. Last week a man was killed after falling from the four-storey Crescent Road car park in Tunbridge Wells. On Monday [February 3], an almost identical incident occurred at the nearby four-storey Meadow Road car park. He was taken to hospital by air ambulance. Police were called to the first incident in Crescent Road just before 3pm on Wednesday [January 29]. Ambulance crews attended the
