Has authored more than 50 publications. In 1999 he founded as CSO Novasite Pharmaceuticals in San Diego, California. He pioneered automated flow cytometry for pharmacological compound profiling. In 2007, he moved back to Spain with the American team and technology to develop a new Precision Medicine test for Hematological Malignancies in Vivia Biotech as Chairman and CSO. The company currently sales its test for AML in Europe to guide patient treatment, and works with 16 companies profiling their candidates in patient samples, developing biomarkers of response.
Scott Brouilette, Senior Marketing Technical Specialist, Illumina Title: Sequencing with Illumina: from Panels to Medical Genomes Scott Brouilette has a PhD in Genetics and spent several years in academic & clinical research. In 2011 Scott joined Partek Incorporated as a Field Applications Scientist (FAS). Partek develop and market software for advanced statistical and bioinformatic analysis; as an FAS with Partek Scott designed and delivered training and support for existing users, and worked with the R&D team to help guide the development of the product portfolio. This focused heavily on gene expression analysis using both array and NGS technologies. In early 2013 Scott joined Illumina’s Field Marketing team, covering the UK and Ireland.

Anup Madan, Senior Technical Director, Genomic Services, Covance (previously LabCorp Clinical Trials)
Title: What are the current trends in Genomic applications in R&D?
Anup Madan, Ph.D. is the Senior Technical Director, Genomic Services at LabCorp Clinical Trials. He is responsible for developing next generation sequencing platforms for providing sequence-based assays as core services by the Seattle site, as well as developing novel assays to support various clinical trials. He has more than 20 years of experience in the field of genomics.
Dr. Madan received his Ph.D. in Biochemical Genetics from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, India. He did his post-doc in Dr. Leroy Hood’s lab at the University of Washington and played a key role in sequencing of human genome. He still collaborates with Dr. Leroy and other faculty members at the University of Washington on various projects, and was a faculty member at the University of Iowa and Swedish Medical Center where he made significant contributions to the understanding of the etiology of brain tumors. Dr. Madan has published extensively in reputable journals such as Science, Nature, and Cancer Research, among others.
Will Spooner, CSO, Eagle Genomics Title: Harnessing Clinical Genomics to Power Translational Research. William is a seasoned operational bioinformatician with a track record of delivering tools for high-throughput genomics research. Having worked previously on Ensembl, BioMart, Gramene and WormBase at the European Bioinformatics Institute, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and Cold Spring Harbor, his current focus is on making life easier for users of open source/data in commercial settings.
