La La Land (24th May – 7th June) brings together contemporary works that are influenced by music, design, street art and pop cultures by young artists in the region. “La La Land” is an expression that is often used to describe a state of mind that is dreamy, frivolous and out of touch with reality. It is a state that reflects a degree of euphoria and freedom. Musicians often enter the state when they are performing. Artists, similarly, experience the same feeling when they are creating their art work. Audience, too, can reach the same state when they are immersed in looking at a piece of art work or enjoying a music performance. The exhibition features four artists: Andre Tan (Singapore, b. 1978), Soni Irawan (Indonesia, b. 1975), Lee Rui Xiang (Singapore, b. 1989) and Joyce Lee (Singapore, b. 1986) whose works capture and celebrate the character and energy of being in the ultimate state of freedom and creativity.
