April is all about being green! The Pleasanton Corporate Campus will be observing Earth Week from April 22-26, and the Green Team will play a big part in supporting the company’s Heart of Safeway Planet platform during the week’s great events. The Green Team’s mission is to make a difference throughout our organization, communities, and the lives of others by engaging and empowering Safeway employees in CSR initiatives. From promoting the use of reusable materials in the campus cafes to influencing sustainable personal and business environmental practices, the Green Team is an energetic organization that is always welcoming new ideas for living green. Kids Clothing Recycling Drive

Tuesday, April 9 Noon – 1 p.m. Building G 1024/1025

Drive: April 10 – April 17

During this hour-long meeting, you will have an opportunity to discuss the 30-Minute Topic: InHome Care. Learn about what types of in-home care are available, who pays for in-home care, and when it might be appropriate. The remainder of the time will be open discussion to share information and stories to support one another.

Financial and Estate Planning Thursday, April 11 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Building G 1024/1025 Bring your lunch and hear from a professional about the important ins and outs of estate planning. SMISE’s guest speaker, Jennifer Thaete, is a certified legal specialist in estate planning, trust, and probate law. Topics to be covered: estate planning, wills, trusts, revocable living trusts, powers of attorney.

Bring gently worn, clean kids’ clothing to our drop-off locations in Bldg F, Bldg G, 6000, Canyon Way, Walnut Creek, and Blackhawk. Clothing can fit any age from babies to teens. Please place shoes in a separate bag from clothes. Free Shopping Event: Friday, April 19 Fill a bag with free kids’ clothes in sizes that fit your family or a family you know. No donation required. Open to all Safeway employees.

Women and Financial Independence Resource Fair Tuesday, April 16 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Building G 1024/1025 Various resources will be provided from 401K vendor to other benefit vendors to help employees/WNG members utilize the resources they have to better their financial situations. We also hope to have a “working” station where people can bring their laptops or smartphones to download financial savvy apps and/or websites.

Join the Green Team for this informal forum to discuss, analyze, and creatively think through ideas related to sustainability or living “green.” Membership in the Green Team not required.

The CEO of Easter Seals Bay Area will discuss the services and benefits they can offer to people with disabilities and their families. HOPE provides information and support for employees who have children or other family members with disabilities.

Conserving Energy and Costs at Home Tuesday, April 23 Noon – 1 p.m. Building G 1024/1025 Learn how to better understand your PG&E invoice and navigate through the PG&E website. A PG&E representative will be on hand to help us gain a better understanding of our home utility invoices, navigate PG&E’s smart meter website, and provide tips on reducing our energy use and costs.
