Breathing. Simple. Just breathe air in and out from the moment we take our first breath until our last. Or is it that simple? We could discuss the subject all day as I discovered recently as I started to read up and research on it for this article. First of all, there´s how we breathe, why we breathe, what it can and can´t do for us and then there´s the practice of when which probably belongs with the how of it. I won´t go into the science of it, which is quite baffling as many people have both unscientifically and scientifically shown through their own experiments, but needless to say, we have no choice in doing it because we HAVE to breathe to live!
OneTribeMagazine.com
What I will do is share some fun stuff with you, like, did you know that the same tissue in your nasal cavities is made of erectile tissue? Eew! Now I know why I´ve often jokingly said to people when I sneeze that I feel like I´m having a nasal orgasm because it´s true. Did you know that the air we breathe in is only made up of around 16% oxygen, or that breathing in a certain way can curb some food cravings? Breathing might come as naturally to us as swallowing except that over the years, some things that we didn´t know, are, how to breathe and stretch in order to extend our life-span. Apparently, we need to start breathing in through our noses and out through our mouths so that we can change the shapes of our faces to how they should be, which is with straight rather than crooked teeth. I somehow think that this isn´t just about breathing but rather, it´s also about the fact that thanks to things like industrialisation and mechanisation, we´ve ended up with mushy processed type food instead and we´re not eating food which we can really get into and chew so that it strengthens our muscles and jaws. The act of breathing is pulling air into our lungs, usually through our noses and sometimes through our mouths if our nose is blocked, which I´ve noticed a lot of because so many
[ 10 ]
people suffer from sinus problems. According to James Nestor who wrote the book “Breath,” we can clear this by doing “nasal breathing.” Nasal breathing can help those who have asthma and sleep apnoea because their noses are blocked with gunk and this will clear it. Just hold one nostril closed and breath with the other one, every day for two weeks. Apparently, it clears it and yes, I did try it out for the last couple of mornings and it does appear to work, but then I don´t have problems with my sinuses any longer since I switch to a GlutenFree diet so my nose is rarely, if ever blocked these days.

Are you listening to the Whispers?
Paying attention to the signs life sends us. As we travel along life’s journey, we are all sent whispers. Ideas that offer us choices that may influence the person we become and if acted upon could have the propensity to change our life path and alter our entire destiny! In 2017, my “whisper” was offered. I listened and acted, and it completely transformed my life! One beautiful blue sky morning, I received a message from the Mrs Earth Australia organiser, who had found me on an online casting site. She told me that she thought I would be an ideal contestant in their beauty pageant. After I picked myself up off the floor from laughing, I thanked her so much for making my month. It was flattering, but I felt that because I am 55, had not worn a dress for 30 years, and lived in runners, it really wasn’t my thing. She emphasised that there were numerous women over 50 who compete, and reassured me that I could be a perfect fit. At the time, I had been soul searching and had started watching and listening to motivational discussions. Each asserted the importance of having a positive mindset and affirmed the notion of

leading the life and dreams that you desire. When I was approached by the Mrs Earth Australia pageant to compete, it seemed so “left of field” and so far out of my comfort zone. My curiosity was piqued and I began researching the organisation, I was impressed, and ultimately interested. The universe was “whispering”, it

was sending me a message; I was having my own “sliding doors” moment! Behind my own door, the last five years at home with my husband had been pretty crappy. He had been battling depression and had anger management issues that had arisen from amphetamine addiction. To be quite honest, I wasn’t coping with our relationship or circumstance. I desperately wanted to help him and regain my best friend, for us, and our son. We were experiencing daily repetition of gut-wrenching, angry negativity in our lives, that I felt I needed to change. It was suffocating and consuming all of us. Sometimes the whispers we receive from God, or whichever name works for you, are quite soft and we need to hear them a few times before we take action. But sometimes they shout! Trusting completely in myself and listening to the Whisper, with faith and gratitude I said YES! I embraced the world of pageantry and got excited about life. I loved being able to raise awareness nationally by creating a shoe collection drive for the charity soles4souls. This taste of philanthropy provided me with something to work toward, and I felt reinvigorated! However, to be successful in my quest for queen, which involved public speaking, I needed to

unconditionally and my self-esteem was soaring. I felt so connected to my true authentic self.
Being a confident woman is something that I have always been. But self-confidence and self-esteem are two very different things. You can fake confidence, but you can’t fake self-esteem! I had low self-esteem, and when it came to wearing dresses or anything fitted, I had a fear of frocks! Whenever I tried on a dress I felt exposed, insecure and uncomfortable. As a tomboy, I had been dressing down and wearing

baggy t-shirts and shorts for years. I had felt this way for decades and I didn’t have the self-esteem to wear a dress or anything fitted or sleeveless, so wearing a glamorous gown was a psychological big deal for me.
My husband was very supportive of my journey and the positive self-esteem that my success had brought. He loved the new dress wearing me. He had undergone a transformation as well and had developed a new positive mindset.
I was very lucky to be sponsored by some wonderful businesses on my journey and had my first gown made for me. It was a beautiful light blue gown and when I tried it on, the material across the shoulders was sheer and you could see my skin and my cleavage. I burst into tears. I felt so exposed. The dressmaker was understanding and empathetic. She remodelled the design perfectly, so I felt comfortable enough to wear it. I got over my fear and grew more selfconfident with each dress and gown Iwore. I learnt to walk and balance in high heels without face planting the floor and took myself completely out of my comfort zone. I won Mrs Earth Australia. I was the oldest competitor. I went on to represent Australia in Las Vegas, competing against 36 pageant experienced married women from around the world. Many of whom I could have given birth to! In Vegas at the world finals, I did the swimsuit section my way. Bucking

I strutted out on stage in a ‘bond girl’ inspired scuba swimsuit, with a dive knife strapped to my arm, my thigh and my waist. A powerful sexy woman was I, scoring 3 x tens and a 9.5. On a high from blowing everyone away in the swimwear section, with a first in the pageant world (and thrilled I had not fallen off my heels), I slipped into my beautiful gown ready for the grand finale. I wore a black fitted sleeveless number that showed my cleavage. Another big first for me, and I felt fabulous, confident and beautiful. My exciting adventure had landed me coverage in print, radio and broadcast outlets in Australia and around the world, including TV interviews on Sunrise and Today, Weekend Extra and the news. I am very grateful that the world of motivational speaking has opened up to me and I am here to inspire you all to “Listen to the Whispers”. Say “Yes” to the opportunities that come your way. Have faith and be fearless about making changes in your life. Stop paying attention to the societal interpretation of your age, and realise that you are a unique and amazing human being. Being A Channel.

As the session progressed this is what came in, and came out; ie channeled. We are all here to bring through our inherent genius (or gift or purpose) to infuse into the planet, whatever that might be. The way that it comes through is via an uninterrupted channel (or tunnel, medium, artery, duct), meaning there is no top and no bottom.
In a client session this week, I channeled what it is to be a channel from the perspective of the Divine guidance I receive and, well, channel. The truth is: we are all channels.
And this is the channel that streams our highest level soul purpose, into the life we are living here as humans. That is to say, it’s our infinite existence communicating with our finite existence. A channel that feeds the ocean provides flow from one place to another, to allow the flow to be continuous, uninterrupted. But the reason for our existence is often elusive, and we search for our meaning, our purpose. Some know it from the beginning, others search their whole lives for it, others find it and lose it, others find it and remain faithful to it and all of its challenges. For example, my purpose aka genius is to heal others via the energetic codes I carry and express through my body and my voice. But it wasn’t something I was aware of until I was in my 40’s and had begun to deeply question and then search for my deepest meaning. It was apparent that I felt like a shell of myself, like something was missing, and I wanted to know why I felt so empty and unfulfilled at the deepest soul level, when my life was so full on so many levels. That’s the journey I write about in my upcoming book, Unlocked. Then the juicy explanation followed that really makes so much sense. I just love it when I receive a dialogue that runs freely through me so that I can share it with the world. For a channel to be effective it
[ 15 ]
should be free of blockages. At several stages in our life we find our purpose and feel very aligned with the ease in which our life flows in this whole state. We are happy, have great friends, good relationships and a healthy body. But as with everything, change is the only constant and so we are faced with challenges that we came here to deal with in order to grow to our full potential. We experience something that makes us doubt or question ourselves, often and usually based on other’s opinions and judgments. Then we create a blockage or a dam in our channel of truth with our anxiety and worry, and the flow of our soul channel becomes blocked. We buy into the opinions and go and change our behaviour by pleasing people (people pleasing), or by thinking we should definitely do as we are expected or encouraged to do by others to keep the peace, to be accepted, to be loved, to not be disruptive. We move our goal posts and open our inner boundaries right up, so as not to offend anyone who may think our choices are wrong or bad or threatening or dangerous in their opinion of how they would like us to be. (Which is always guided by how it would affect their relationship with you, if you change.) Not realising that by doing this we are abandoning ourselves at the crucial time of being on the precipice of growth. We are turning away from the very purpose of the clash, which is to remind the other person of their own journey by NOT buying into their judgments and criticisms thus allowing them to do their own work as well. This blockage of our flow creates and festers toxic energy that spreads like a virus in our system.
OneTribeNetwork.com
Carmelle Crinnion
It makes us sick, often on an emotional or mental level rather than a physical level, and sometimes both or all. We experience money problems, relationship problems, health problems, work problems and so on. These times are indications when we are going to the next level with our growth spiritually. Markers that tell us we’re ready to take a quantum leap in our life. So in short, when we block the flow of the channel of our life purpose or genius, we cannot operate at our full potential. The channel becomes a dead end. We starve the receiving end and flood the incoming end. We lower our standards, we put up with criticism and judgment, we abandon our health and our bodies. Instead we could use the inner knowing we have, but have forgotten, to progress through the blockages. So, what is the content of the soul channel? Truth. The unquestionable sacred truth we came here to live by. When enough people abandon their truth and live with all the problems caused by this, they form groups and affiliations with others who have done the same, and it makes them/us feel better. But it is like Groundhog Day and we never really get anywhere near living our full potential. But it can be thrilling because we can feel popular or needed by the others in the same situation. This therefore creates a groundless island on which we try to grow roots of truth, with no lasting result because there is no depth to this temporary place of escape from our soul truth. Sometimes we can overcome it alone, but it can often take years or decades, and even worse, tragedy and illness before we
OneTribeMagazine.com
return to ourselves. We often need the assistance of someone who knows exactly how to remove the blockages to teach us and shift the misalignment of our codes that are inherent in our soul. Just by sitting with this information, letting it stream through you, you’ll know where you need to take action in your life. It’s not easy, but the decision is easy, and it’s the first step. The best things in life come to us when we have stood steadfastly behind, and diligently honoured our truth. The short term may be scary, but as with anything worth fighting for, our honour is worth it. And boy, I know what it’s like to not go with the flow of pleasing others; of stepping outside the normalcy of society. Others, in their loving and well meaning voices, try to convince you that you are indeed a bit crazy or, as I’ve been called, delusional and a narcissist. Such is the potency of one person’s adamant stance to stand true, no matter what. It creates unrest in others who don’t understand or are even envious of the determination and steely will it sometimes requires to not abandon ourselves. There are nuances to knowing your truth though, and it is oft wrought with falsities stemming from ingrained shadows we carry. These are soul memories that recall hurt and pain from our past, and will lead us to a safe way forward, once more abandoning our actual Truth. The channel may appear to unblock, but it is simply a small reprieve to make you feel better for a while. Before long, the next cycle begins and it’s often worse than the one before. That’s why we hear of people who are diagnosed with terminal diseases and fight with all their heart and soul to fight the disease.
[ 16 ]
They turn their life around, and the common thread with all of these cases, is that they start speaking from their heart. They start living from their truest place of integrity. They cease to care about the things they once considered so important. They mend bridges that were broken because of blame, shame and resentment. They evict people and circumstances from their lives that they now know were toxic to them. They champion their life once more, and often even for the first time in their lives. The result is that the toxicity of their external world, their emotional world and their mental world, is dissolved. When toxicity has nothing to feed on, it shrivels. So the tumour shrivels and dies, the disease stops in its tracks, the organs heal, the blood becomes healthy, the brain begins functioning normally, the skin returns to its healthy state. The dis-ease, dis-appears. They have returned to the flow of their soul truth. Carmelle Crinnion

Boost Your Creativity in less than 10 min Try looking at something bright and colorful — specifically green or blue. Again, studies have shown that looking at something in these colors will enhance your ability for tasks that involve deep thinking. Being creative involves both divergent and convergent thinking. Maybe it’s time to invest in some new artwork for your office or paint some walls that will support your creative mood and energy. Write the old-fashioned way — by hand. Not only do we remember things better when we write things out longhand, but we become more creative when we do. Try keeping a notebook nearby so you can doodle in or scribble random ideas as they occur and keep your creative energy flowing. Travel in time — According to a study published in a social psychology journal, our problemsolving skills get a boost when we think about something that happened either a long time ago or something that will happen a long way in the future. So, it’s time to walk down memory lane. Either that or imagine where you’ll be in ten years. Then revisit the problem. Getting better at problem-solving and not feeling stuck or stagnant will boost your creative energy. Maybe it’s time to book your next NLP (Neuro-linguistic

Programming) session. Ground Yourself — If you feel overwhelmed energetically, not centered or just out of your element. Ground yourself via Earthing; step into your garden (or the park), without your shoes; the idea is to be close to the earth beneath your feet. You can choose to lay down on the ground or walk around in the dirt/grass barefooted. Another good way to do this also to visualize roots extending from your feet to the center of the earth. Laughing — A positive mood makes for better creativity, so laughing, even when you don’t feel like it, can create a mood more conducive toward creativity and shift your creative energetic state instantly. To maintain that creative mood, take these items and build them into habits. By repeating these actions often you’ll get your brain in line with creative thinking, meaning that you’ll become a more creative person. In Conclusion: “When you’re in a stagnant creative ENERGETIC RUT, remain CALM , OPEN and CURIOUS find ways out, TRUST that you have the ability to transform it.” –Dr. Sofie Nubani

The History and Tradition of New Year. New Year’s Day is celebrated on 1st January following the Gregorian and Julian Calendar. New Year for each one personally is a New Dawn, new possibilities a clean slate filled with new year resolutions and celebrations. We look back on the past year and make positive resolutions and changes for the new year. No matter what religion, the culture you are, there is always hype about the new year. The New years eve is filled with kisses, festivities, fireworks dropping of the ball in New York Times Square, parades, food, conspiracies, prophecies and popping of champagne toasting good luck blessings for the future, children staying up all night, gatherings of loved ones. In colder countries New Year’s begins with cold water plunges, some cultures play loud noises to ward off evil spirits. For thousands of years, New Year’s has been a festival of rebirth and reflection, allowing people all over the world to celebrate another great year.
The Ancient Mesopotamian people performed rituals, they either crowned a new king or allowed their old king to continue his reign for another year. It wasn’t until Julius Ceasar implemented the Julian Calendar that 1st January became the common day for New Year celebrations. This was done to honour the god Janus, whom January is named after, Janus had two faces, he was able to look at the past and present simultaneously. Earlier celebrations of New Year were more paganistic in nature, celebrating earth’s cycles. However, in the 20th century, New Year celebrations have varied. It’s now a holiday associated with nationality, relationships and introspection rather than religious traditions.
All this originated 4000 thousand years ago in ancient Babylon.
There is something so powerful and unifying about the New Year’s energy, as we all wait on the count down of the last minutes of the previous year and at midnight the clock strikes, champagne bottles are popped, car hooters go wild, horns of ships echo on the seas and harbours, fireworks are set off and the New Year has begun.
It was an eleven-day festival on the first day of spring, which occurred during the vernal equinox in mid-March.
And we can never forget the Y2K scare of 1 January 2000, when all computers were supposed to have crashed.
Many ancient cultures used the sun and moon cycle to decide the “first day of the year”.
The song, “Auld Lang Syne”, is sung at the stroke of midnight in almost every English speaking

country in the world to bring in the new year. Written by Robert Burns in 1700, variations of the song were sung prior to 1700. And old Scottish tune, “Auld Lang Syne”, means ‘old long ago” or “the good old days”. The religious New Years that are celebrated at different times of the year are as follows... The Chinese Lunar New Year starts on January 25, 2020, and lasts for 15 days until February 8. Songkran, the Thai New Year, begins on April 13, 2020, and ends on April 15. Muharram, the Islamic New Year, starts on August 21, 2020, and ends the evening of September 18. Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins on the evening of September 18, 2020. Diwali, the Hindu New Year, takes place on November 14, 2020. As for myself, I prefer to spend New Year’s eve at home listening to the music countdown of the year, enjoying the energy and atmosphere from the streets below. The new year is full of traditions allowing us to follow those we like, still, it’s hard to ignore the ending of a year is usually a bittersweet moment. Blessed 2021 to One Tribe Members and Readers. How much do you really know about menopause?
But here’s the thing: 50% of the world’s population are going to experience it, so let’s find out what it’s all about, shall we?
What about the hormone depletion / fluctuations and the various remedies for that such a Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)? A lot of people have heard about that through various media reports about the downsides of HRT. But did you know that there are more than 35 individual symptoms of menopause and they all have variations? I certainly didn’t, and I’m a midlife woman. I was interviewing a health expert for my podcast the other week, a forty-something man who’s been married twice and now teaches people how to achieve optimal health through focus on what he calls the three pillars of health: food, exercise and sleep. Since the work I do is aimed at midlife women, I asked him what would he recommend to women going through menopause because, for a lot of women, there’s a good ten years where their sleep patterns are all over the place and deep sleep is something that can be quite hard to come by. This twice married health expert had no idea that menopausal women had problems with sleep. He thought it was simply that menstruation stopped. Actually,

First off, how many people cringe or shiver and move on when they see the title because they don’t want to discuss menopause? It’s a borderline taboo subject with a lot of people and discussing menopause publicly is inappropriate, as far as they’re concerned.
Going back to the question in the title ‘How much do you know about menopause?’, it’s a fair guess that pretty much everyone knows about the hot flushes. I have to say that the memes about hot flushes are some of my favourites… because I can relate to them!
I’m making that up: I don’t think he had any idea what happens in menopause, and the thing is, he’s not alone. Another thing that’s not that well known is that the term “menopause” describes the moment where a woman has been without a menstrual period for twelve months? It’s an instant, it’s not an ongoing period of time. When we talk about “going through menopause”, we’re usually talking about the time leading up to (peri-) and following (post) that moment. But for ease of use, I’ll call the whole thing menopause From my experience (and I’ve spoken to a fair few pre-, peri- and post-menopausal women), we rarely find out anything about what to expect during menopause until we start to feel the first symptoms, and then we start talking to our friends, doing a bit of research and finding out more about this whole thing.
Karen O’Connor
As I’m thinking about it now, I wonder how much this has to do with the fact that in most Western societies, menopause is viewed as being the end of a “useful” life. Post menopausal women are seen (in the media, advertising, entertainment industries and hence in wider society) as being unattractive, unhappy, just hanging around, maybe looking after their grandchildren for a few years until they pop their clogs. To put it bluntly, the message that’s out there is this: once you hit menopause, you have served your purpose and now it’s time to get out of the way, go sit in a corner and be quiet. You’re now a burden. On society, on your family, on everyone. The rest of your life is a waste of time. Ouch. It’s no wonder depression is so rife among midlife women. It’s also no wonder few of us want to find out more about this part of life. There’s such a negative connotation to menopause, it’s pretty understandable that we want to avoid even thinking about it, never mind admitting that we may actually be in that part of life. Like I said at the start of the
article, menopause is also something that’s almost a taboo topic. It’s a bit dirty, something we don’t discuss in polite company. Our kids (and I’m talking about mine here) may be taught sex education at school but they’re taught little about what happens during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause. One of my daughters had no idea that having a baby changes your body permanently in ways that might not be obvious. She had no clue what happened in menopause other than “that’s the moment when you’re old”. Older women might not be revered in our culture, but other cultures have a different idea. In the Pacific Island nations, for example, menopause is as important a transition as puberty. Not for the reasons that Western societies see it - the end of a woman’s useful life – but because menopause is a woman’s transition into becoming a spiritual elder. Once they reach menopause, women no longer have to put their time, energy and strength into raising children. Instead, they’re free – and ready - to guide and support the community as a whole, sharing their wisdom and knowledge,
[ 25 ]
as well as supporting their children’s children and passing their experience on to the younger generations. A similar belief is held in the shamanic cultures of America. They believe that during a woman’s fertile years, her strength and wisdom is used to create and raise a new life. The moment she stops menstruating, then she retains her wisdom rather than gifting it to the children. This is the point where a woman is capable of becoming a healer and spiritual leader in the communities: the Wise Women and Elders. Same situation, completely different reactions and outcomes. Maybe it’s time that we in the West stop allowing this subtle misogyny and oppression. and really start to acknowledge – and even celebrate – this rite of passage for the opportunity that it actually is. And maybe even have some fun with it! Growing old disgracefully has always been very appealing to me!

A transformational journey. We all think it’s about the spiritual side, when truly the biggest and deepest connection comes from our humanness. We are spiritual beings having a HUMAN experience, yet we focus SO much on the spiritual side. We lose ourselves in it. We do not embrace the very vessel that carries us throughout this lifetime. We don’t take time to consciously be with ourselves, to truly love yourself is a journey of acceptance.
2020 delivered energy none of us expected, we knew it was coming but the manifestation was quite different. This year has been a transformational journey. I’ve observed others bloom in a situation which could have had a different outcome. Empowerment was the energy that was present for me, it created the space for transformation. I stood in my truth in a big way, I trusted the information received from Spirit, and my work morphed into something incredibly beautiful. In that truth I found answers to so many unanswered questions. But most of all, I fell in love with me and my humanness!! That has been key, embracing my human self.
OneTribeMagazine.com
This discovery came through two processes for me. A journey with my womb (so HUMAN) and human design (the name says it all). We all want to be up in the crown, yet the epitome of connection comes from grounding in. I have even channelled a formula to help you ground based on your human design and your birth sign. Our designs need different elements based on our energy. Our emotion (energy in motion) is a compass. Let it guide you, allow your body to process and move the energy but acknowledge its presence. When we clear our channels we are open to receive. Everything is made up of energy, with that in mind the real connection comes from connecting to our body and when we do that the mind clears which opens up a pathway for our soul to be inspired. This is my reality and abundance has never been more apparent! When we open, clear and release that is where true magic lies, and then we are available for miracles!! If this lands for you that is phenomenal but remember this
[ 26 ]
is my truth. Stand in yours, rise in yours, you are a unique being nobody has your code!! I love the quote from Marianne Williamson it is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. I encourage you to shine and carry your truth in these times because you give another permission to do the same. Embrace your humanness, take that journey, learn how to love yourself. This essence comes from a place of worthiness and if you breathing, the universe has confirmed you are worthy of life force energy so who are you to question it! Speak the unsaid someone is thinking it, drop into your body, get out of the mind and live out your journey in YOUR truth!!! Accept what it is, this carries freedom. When you fight what are you fighting, or more importantly what are you giving your power to? Who are you giving your power to? Trust, be and you will find yourself in a magical vortex that will always deliver!!. When we give our wounding power, it cycles accept it move on from it, and create a new world with new energy. One last word, BE your own guru nobody knows YOU better than you. You have the ability to heal yourself!! You are NOT broken, you do not need FIXING!! Be curious, explore and discover, a world of magic awaits you!

As we move through our current energy and allow the planet frequencies to benefit our well-being, we can learn to grow and transform. We have so much to look forward to as we ease forward and into next year. Saturn has been in the sign of Capricorn for two and a half years now and getting ready to move into Aquarius; humanity.
Virgo- You can look forward to redirecting your focus from work to play. It is time to restructure and re-activate the creativity within you. Now, is a great time to play and stay on the lighter side of passion projects. Libra- You can look forward to speaking your truth more often, and feeling courageous and brave. People want to hear what you have to say and you are finding a tribe who supports your authentic self, no matter the high standards you hold for yourself.
Allow me to further explain…Saturn is the planet which rules structure, rules, our governments, stability, traditions, and boundaries. Saturn is the ruling planet of the zodiac sign Capricorn, and there made a profound impact these last twenty-four months. As Saturn moves into the zodiac sign of Aquarius, we can expect much shifting to happen within our structure, specifically around humanity and our view on what this should feel like. Each sign turns their focus and discovers a new tribe and vibe to go within life. The people within their communities and tribes support them in specific growth areas of their life. This energy teaches us to be brave and patient when working with others, so that we may learn as much as we teach.
Scorpio- You can look forward to finding a tribe which supports your emotional wellbeing, respects it, and takes you seriously. Now is a great time to start your healing process and letting go of toxicity. You are going to feel better than you ever have. Sagittarius- You can look forward to discovering and re-activating your truest form. You are so great at adjusting, and now it’s time to give yourself love. Get involved in your community and discover just who you are. Capricorn- You can look forward to taking on a new identity and stepping into the role you are meant to be in. A great job these past two years! You have undergone a major transformational process and should feel proud of all your hard work.
Here’s a taste of what each Zodiac Sun Sign can expect… Aries- You can look forward to creating a beautiful friendship and social circle, by attracting those who support your cause and stand for what you believe in. This happens specifically within the life area of how you move forward as a leader.
Aquarius- You can look forward to some relaxation. You are stepping into your truest form. There will be speed bumps to overcome, but the universal gifts are endless! Let go of responsibilities which no longer serve a purpose.
Taurus- You can look forward to using your higher education, or any other training and experience you’ve studied and lived through, to help you change roles within your career. You are stepping into a leadership position and taking on only what you truly value versus extra responsibilities.
Pisces- You can look forward to and attract a tribe who understands your needs and is a solid team for you when you need them. You will be transforming your dreams and your future. You are redefining what you deserve.
Gemini- You can look forward to peeling back the layers and taking on a whole new meaning to depth. When you choose a certain focus, you’ll learn all there is to know about this subject area, and put it to good use.
Enjoy Saturn in Aquarius. This beautiful transit will continue on until March 7, 2023, when Saturn enters Pisces. December 17, 18, 2020 is when Jupiter, the planet of expansion, and Saturn enter Aquarius. Get ready to expand your structure and boundaries.
Cancer- You can look forward to taking on a new and powerful role in society. You are realizing the worth of your emotional care and understanding that you need this from others as much as you give it out.
I look forward to working with you.
Leo- You can look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of what a committed relationship is and what reliable friends are. You are taking on this role as a partner for others, as much as you are letting go of toxicity.

Addiction Recovery
Finding Your Purpose In 2013, researchers published a study in a major psychiatric journal called “A meaningful life is worth living: Meaning in life as a suicide resiliency factor” (Kleiman, E., & Beaver., J). In it, they suggested that when someone finds meaning in life, this might predict a decrease of suicidal thoughts over a period of eight weeks. In 2021, a group of authors in Psychosocial Medicine will publish an article which argues that a sense of purpose might mitigate the behavioural risk of drug misuse, but that this concept had been understudied. Here endeth the academic sermon.
OneTribeMagazine.com
And here beginneth my total confusion about why this hasn’t been studied more. Those of us still (or previously) lost in the wilderness of addiction have been thrown into a labyrinth constructed of abuse, trauma, depression, destruction, financial and legal problems, health issues, emotional dysregulation, and generally feeling like giants pieces of shit. Basic functioning collapses, bit by bit, until by the end of our drinking and drugging, many of us (though by no means all of us) live like little more than animals, keeping our physical organism alive only by necessity, long ago having eschewed hygiene, dignity, and concern about the urine-soaked mattress which smells up the room or the vomit on the floor. Spit out of rehab, we are given strict instructions, and pages of them, an aftercare plan which basically reads FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON’T LET UP FOR A SINGLE MOMENT OR YOU WILL SLIDE BACK FROM WHENCE YOU CAME. And for a while, in fact, that singleness of purpose, that laser focus, is essential. I arrived back from rehab with three energy drinks in my belly. No addictive tendencies there. No siree. My biggest concern was back-to-school shopping for my young child, and my brain ran middle-of-thenight marathons about which neighbourhood housewife I would inform that I had spent
[ 34 ]
my summer in rehab. Needless to say, I was drunk before September bid us adieu. A little singleness of purpose, some more focus, and a lot less ego would have done me a whole lot of good. But we do not get clean and sober to spend the rest of our lives doing an endless round of attending recovery meetings, parole officer check-ins and group therapy programs. There is more to sobriety than, as F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote in Tender Is The Night, keeping the wolves outside the cabin door. That “more” is purpose. Passion. What Joseph Campbell called following your bliss. It’s the more that Junnuh found in Legend of Baggar Vance on a golf course, and that Elizabeth Gilbert found in her search for herself (and everything else) in Eat, Pray, Love. It might shock folks to know that I miss alcohol every day. I have missed it every day of the two years and nearly three months I have been sober. Some days I miss it more. Some days I miss it less. But there has been a moment in every single one of those eight hundred plus days when I have missed my poison. I don’t hook into those moments though, and they rarely trouble me. I let them float by on my consciousness, clouds in my sky, dispatches from a dark underworld that I will never go back to.
Adele Mason
Why? Because I have a reason to stay here. With my face in the sun. With my feet on the ground. With my hands dirty at the kitchen counter, covered in muffin batter. With my computer chiming incoming message alerts, and young childrenturned-elephants laughing upstairs. With my parents, hearts at rest, their prodigal daughter tending to them and truly seeking to know them in the winter of their lives. With my partner, the king of my heart, softly walking through life right beside me. It is essential, of course, to give those in recovery the tools to resolve their darkness. To work through the wreckage and the damage of their pasts. I have done and continue to do that work. We all need huge locks to keep the door to the past sealed shut, so it all stays gone and gone for good. But the recovery community is missing something, and it might be the most important thing of all: It forgot to tell people that after they have toiled awhile, wrestling down their dragons and closing their old doors, they need to turn around. Because right behind them is a huge open window that looks out onto a brand new world. Fresh. Bright. Full of hope. Purpose. Meaning. Photo: Adele Mason

The true-life story of a young girl’s intuitive capacity to heal a life.
When I was young, I went to church every Sunday with my family. What did I learn from attending church? Well, that is not the journey I intend to share with you. It’s a different journey, an adventure between the minds quiet spaces. A pilgrimage based on the experience of living and discovering we all have hidden treasures, plenty of gold. This is a real-world experience of a young girl. That girl is me, aged ten years and it is April 1986.
OneTribeMagazine.com
When, as humans, we quieten the mind and remain still – is when those quiet spaces emerge. I would practice diligently everyday surrendering to those pauses in life. Such breaks of intense and sustained focus always bought me into a state of “flow”, similar to what I had accomplished in my running endeavours—not chasing the next PB, but chasing the flow state. I lived in awe of the altered natural state of consciousness where anything becomes possible. The circumstances of your life are no accident. Humans were born with an innate gift. A gift of higher intelligence, powerful beyond measure, wise beyond our years and a more profound truth that will always direct us towards knowing. This gift is with you right now, no need to go searching, there is nowhere to go to find it. It’s not a gift reserved for the superhuman, nor to be found at a personal development conference. This gift is within you, go within and find it. As a mindset coach, I so often instruct people to get out of their heads; it causes carnage, becomes a nightmare to deal with, so much stress and decisions. It is not thinking that is wrong. It is that humans think the same thing over and over again. People feel compelled to rely on logic and to judge from their head,

Has anyone told you, you sit on a gold mine of infinite intelligence? The year 1986 marked the beginning of an adventure, discovering I was sitting on a gold mine. I remember for years something more was wanting to emerge within me, I said “yes” and followed this strong current directing my life. Never once wanting to swim against the tide and I found gold.
allowing your intuition to never flick into gear. All humans are uniquely programmed to get back to their inner knowing. So I invite you to lean in, listen to my inspiring story as we peel back the human layers and allow the secret truth to emerge. “Truth lies within ourselves; it takes no rise from outward things. There is an inmost centre in all of us all, where Truth abides in fullness and to Know rather consists in opening out a way whence the imprisoned splendour may escape.” – Robert Browning Back to Sunday church, the alter in front on me suddenly was embraced with two elegant female Ballerinas performing a rehearsed dance routine. I remember scanning and following their every move with my eyes, as they rhythmically and
Renae Cobley
ever so gracefully danced across the floor. Next, I was in a trance-like state as my eyes could not leave one of the dancers. She was lifting her leg, drawing it ever so high above her head. Next, she falls to the alter floor, bowed over and weeping and clutching her knee. I suddenly felt an intuitive, intense rush of her physical pain and her emotional starvation of not knowing what to do. I quickly scanned the congregation for its response. It was as though she was invisible; how could anyone not see what I was witnessing. In all but a few fleeting seconds, this young girl jumped two pews and mounted onto the stage to be of assistance. I was looking directly at her as she continued to brace her knee and crying, “help me, my knee is in excruciating pain”. As to what happened next, I altered the course of my life journey and many in the congregation. Quickly performing a knee examination on her, I focused on evaluating the appearance and
the integrity and stability of the knee joint. How and why did I at such a young age make such an assessment. I was staring down the barrel of a severely dislocated knee. Next, I gentle manoeuvred to put the bone back into place by applying steady traction below the knee and counter traction above the knee. I acted from where I wanted to be with such an in-depth knowledge of “I can”, not from where I was. I was unstoppable and unshakable at this ripe young age. I wanted the many and varied challenges to strengthen my potential and connection with this invisible source within, this innate intelligence. How does such a young child choose to react so professional, medically intuitive all wrapped and woven in the highest truth we have known to humans. I was never trying to force the outcome to emerge. As in my mind, there was no outcome only a gift to be unwrapped by another fellow
[ 37 ]
human being. If I were concerned merely about the results, I would have never placed my hands on this lady’s leg as our thinking engages us in tricks often, what if I cause more trauma, pain and further damage her career as a talented ballet dancer. Instead, I had no point to prove. No ego to fulfil. Instead, I was energised with an obsessive urge to gift another human the power of healing. My story I share, exemplifies The possibilities in this lifetime are much greater than you dare to imagine. I use myself as an example, as personal power is available to everyone. I dare you to take the leap, have the faith and courage to open another door to your life. Explore new boundaries to this life we live. The true self, the higher self is always worth seeking. Challenges will arise to make us more aware of our spiritual purpose.

Wake up.
I’m 23 years old. Having the time of my life, I’m standing on the aft deck of a Navy ship, a helicopter hovering above me, lowering a harness down to me to take me for swing. The exercise is called a VERTRAP (Vertical transfer of personnel) I get into the harness, the helicopter moves further aft, backing away from the ship. I’m strapped in and can only but take two steps and leap off the back of the boat. In that moment, suspended from the Helicopter hovering over the ocean I see the back of the ship, I hear the noise of the helicopter and I focus on the ship getting closer and closer to me. And bang! I get smacked into the back of the ship. This is it. The end.

In a flash I remember my childhood. My abusive drug dealing father who raped my mother. I remember playing at his funeral when he was murdered when I was 6. I remember her 6 alcoholic brothers congregating at our tiny 2bedroom unit that housed me, Mum, my sis and Grand mum, almost daily there was a brother or more getting waisted in what we called home.
the abuse, the fear and anxiety experienced from the womb. It’s all coming up and I’m projecting this onto everyone in my life. I have no idea! I think I’m always right. The world is what is wrong.
I remember reaching out to mum for affection and getting shouted at or shunned away. Uncles landing a smack or punch as I walked by. I remember roaming the streets of this drug infested neighborhood. Stealing to make a way, dodging stones and bricks being thrown at me every time I ventured out of the neighborhood just because I was the wrong color.
I’m clenching onto a bottle of rum, gulping, I raise my eyes and arms to the heavens and at the top of my voice I exclaim! “Is this it? Is this the Life you have planned for me”. I’m furious with unanswered questions. How did it get to this? I’m crying uncontrollably and it seems my only comfort for so long, has been this bottle.
Now here I am, highly successful Weapons Technician in the Military. Hanging onto this harness, hanging onto life. As with all the other near misses before this one, miraculously, I survive this ordeal. It’s not my time to die. I evaluate my life. The only thing I’ve ever wanted was to be a father and have a family of my own. I pursue this dream; nothing gets in my way and I am unstoppable! Fast forward, I’m 32, I’ve immigrated to New Zealand and I’m married with a son. My life is complete everything I ever wanted. I’ve come full circle. My marriage is toxic, I am toxic. I am a product of all my life experience. The anger, the hurt, the pain,

Time to die again, it’s 2:22am (only 5 years ago) and I’m standing on the deck in my back yard, rain is pouring down, mixed with angry tears. My wife and son have left.
I wake up the next afternoon, laying naked in my bed. My head is so heavy I feel paralyzed. I drag myself to the toilet, I’m throwing up blood, cursing myself and my life. In this moment, I realize it’s me. It’s all me, every choice, every event, every action, every outcome. I’ve created this and the realization has me feeling numb. Who am I? I empty the alcohol into the drain. I bin the cigarettes and weed. I make it through the day with water and oily comfort food. And God heard me last night, and he unfolds the answer to that question, and every other question, daily now. Ever since that huge realization that I was the cause of it all...it

feels like God has been on my side. It’s as though my questions are all being answered, daily. It’s part of my life now, looking at where I am responsible and communing with something bigger and higher up than myself.
I remember my first sound healing session and the journey it took me through, meeting my inner child for the first time. Another story for another time.
After that blow out a dear friend suggested meditation. Over the next few months, a calmness enters my soul that I’ve never felt before. Everything starts to make sense. I’m exercising, eating healthy, and for the first time in my life, discovering self-love.
Through my process of healing, my mum is healing, my sister is healing, I feel the whole world is healing.
I attend a 10-day Vipassana in December that year, followed by energy healing sessions, more meditation, more personal development. I remember the first healing session, when I felt the energy flowing through my body, and the experience that I could manipulate this energy. Blew my mind. (A story for another time.)
This led me to move into inner child work and healing the trauma.
I stand with love and compassion, in humility before those I have hurt. I now realize that every single human that triggers me is a blessing in my life, shining a light on the work and healing that still needs to be done. I react less. I respond more. I create Love and affinity. And just like that, I’ve discovered my purpose. As a child, I always had this feeling that there was more to life, that I was made for bigger things. And this is it. Through my pain and my journey, I look to inspire all people into

discovering their purpose. To hold space for those still stuck in the gutter. Through my coaching and mentorship, inside the realm of communication, I look to raise Men from the gutter. To guide women and men into healing past trauma and discovering this new way of being through Unity, Love, Affinity and community. I’m passionate about saving families on the brink of separation for the sake of our kids and where that is not possible, guiding them through a love filled separation. I’m committed that my Son grows up a full expression of his love, my greatest gift of all.

How to Remember the ‘YOU’ That You Think You Forgot. Let’s get one thing out of the way right from the start. You are unique and truly amazing! There is nobody else quite like you. You came here that way but here’s the question; How often do you take the time to realize all the wonderful and unique things that make you, you? It’s a crazy world out there. So much noise everywhere. It’s easy to forget who and what you really are. Noise is just that…noise. It can serve as a distraction that can very easily take you out of yourself. Focusing on the problems of the day on a full-time basis will only invite stress and negativity into your life experience. It’s fine to be informed, but things most often take a downturn when you choose to buy into the negative news you hear. This is also when you lose your uniqueness. You give all that’s special about you up and invite the negativity of the day into your being instead. You are here for a reason. Nothing happens by accident. Your uniqueness can serve as a healthy buffer between the noise of the day and the special being that you truly are. If you’re feeling totally lost under a pile of present day stresses, doubts and woes, try focusing on the following; 1. Believe you are more than the negativity you often experience around you. Choose to not attach yourself to it. 2. Know that it’s possible to get back to your true authenticity and that
it might be easier than you think. 3. Figure out the best way to manage negative, inner mindchatter as this only serves to form a barrier between the real you and what you’re experiencing outside of yourself. 4. Figure out the best way to get back into the energy and being of you. It’s been far too long. 5. Devise a daily plan that won’t take too much time. It can be done. 6. Stick with it. Don’t give up. You coming back home to you is paramount. 7. Allow the process to happen. If you are standing at the door and keeping it closed, nothing can come in to facilitate the shift that you so sorely need. 8. Know that you are never alone. What follows are some ways to help you remember the ‘You’ that you think you forgot; 1. Meditation. Close your eyes and focus on your natural breathing process. Feel and know that your uniqueness resides deep within you. It always has, it’s just a question of re-connecting with it. Ask that it be made known to you and then request that a true connection be established. Feel your being flooded with Love and Light. The real You has always been there. You are the one that has forgotten this very true fact. Feel how good it feels to reconnect and at the same time, ask this divine part of you to consciously walk with you [ 43 ]
each and every day. And so it will be. Do this often and watch how things will change for the better in your life. 2. Prayer. Pray that the unique, special, love-filled part of you comes to the fore. Thank ahead of time, for it will happen. Just get out of your own way. 3. Visualize. See yourself coming back home to yourself. Don’t try to force this. Set up what this will look like and then let it happen. Feel what the process feels like and choose to recreate it often. If you don’t ask, you won’t receive. The Universe is standing by ready to help you with anything and everything. It knows who and what you really are. How could this be so? Because the Universe resides within you. It’s energy makes itself known to you with each and every breath that you take. You remembering how truly special and unique you are has everything to do with the part of the Universe that resides within you. As special and unique as the Universe is, is exactly how special and unique you are. I don’t know about you but I grew up forgetting who and what I was. I was heavily teased all the way through Junior High School because I was unique and different. Sad to say I abandoned my true Universal self because I so wanted to be like everyone else. Why in the world would I want to fit in with those who only wanted to bring harm to me? I know better now.

And so it is with you. Never let anyone tell you who you need to be or even worse, knock you down for who you truly are. That’s all on them, not you. March to the beat of your own drum and remember, you have amazing company as you continue to walk down your road. You are never, ever alone. Believe it, know it and most important, feel and realize it each and every day. Along with the ways I’ve suggested that you reconnect, just smile! Why would I say that? Think of the Buddha. A Buddha has a permanent half smile on its face. How could this be? Because the Buddha knows that all is well, no matter what. It lives and breathes perfect mindfulness with the knowing that choosing to reside in the present moment opens the connection to the Universe…within and without.
Know that you’re made of some pretty great stuff. Anytime you forget this very real fact, choose to breath and smile. You are a child of the Universe and it loves you dearly. You are one of its beloved and it will never leave you. Unless you choose to forget and disconnect from who and what you really are. Stay SOCIAL with Robert Landau
You are like the Buddha. All you have to do is realize that your mindchatter is just that, mind-chatter. You are so much greater than anything your chatter tries to convince you that you are. It’s the difference between illusion and reality.

Feeling Safe And Anchored Into Your Feeling Good Center Is NOT Just A Mindset Shift Away, And It’s Not Your Fault The coaching industry’s standard on mindset to change everything is missing some serious foundational pieces that it makes me want to scream from the rooftops.. “IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT MINDSET ISN’T WORKING…” and then blanket you in a warmhearted, forgiving embrace. And while you’re feeling that... Know this! Something more desirable (and let’s face it, more needed) can happen instead..and to your relief, it can happen really quickly.. Look, I know you’ve been guided to just ‘get on with it,’ and ‘get your damn mindset correct,’ and everything else will just flow from there. ...that if you can’t fix your mindset, there is something wrong with you, or that you’re going to botch your launch or have no sales or clients. ...that mindset is everything and your romantic relationships (and
others) will all suffer until you get your head screwed on straight and just freakin’ ‘do that damn thing.’ I see this every day. I see how hard you’ve worked. How relentlessly and disciplined you’ve been with mindset, and how deeply hopeful you’ve been that if you just jump through the next hoop, it’ll all come through - everything you’ve been wishing and wanting for, right? RIGHT? I’ve been a classic case study. No matter how much mindset work I did (and let me share, I worked my mind off), all the soul-satisfying success I dreamed of in work and romantic relationship eluded me. Each day I was diligent. I sat at my altar. I made my intentions. I meditated and did thousands of prostrations and visualizations. I scripted how I wanted everything to be. I was so deeply devoted, probably like you have been. I recorded my sacred, scripted prayers on apps, and then listened to them non stop, even while sleeping. But I couldn’t manifest any of those things upon a foundation where some of the very successes I wanted - more income, and a more connected partnership were triggering unhealed wounding that mindset wouldn’t fix. You’ve probably been dealing with this same burden. And I know if you’re reading this, you know what that feels like. The ache in your soul is real. It hurts. It’s heavy and sooo frustratingly painful.. And that more you want - it’s only going to come from the foundation of your nervous system, in your body, and in your feel good center having the embodiment to switch into a much more present NOW, to have [ 47 ]
resources to be in flow with what’s coming up in your relationship. I know you want to flip the switch dear loves, and you’ve been fed the mindset fixes it all story - but there is a story underneath all the minds that exist in the world. It lives in the heart. It lives in the body. It lives in the nervous system. It lives in your cells. And how all this is regulated. This is the foundation, UNDERNEATH your mind. And when you know you wouldn’t build a skyscraper from the sky down, you get that you wouldn’t trust your relationship or successes to such a theory either. You build it from the ground up. Like I did. Each place where the foundation of the heart, body and nervous system lives, needs our presence, awareness and caring, compassionate and resourced self. This is what creates true roots inside you, true present moment, safe infrastructure - what helps flip the feel good center to GOOD from the sludge you’ve been unnecessarily swamping through. No more. This is how it works. And the space I hold for this unfoldment to happen is exactly my magic. If you’re interested, I have two spots open. Achieving an
Amazing Life. HHHHH Larry:
Photo: Larry Rosenberg + Andy Ferguson
Andy, here we go off on another adventure of dialoguing about the meaning and quality of life! During six years of friendship and conversations, we’ve regularly discussed how to live an amazing life. In the dictionary, amazing is characterized as “astonishment, great wonder or surprise.” Our views on this concept have overlapped as well as differed. To me, an amazing life is active, energizing, creative, fulfilling, delightful and inspiring. It’s my standard for a life worth envisioning, experiencing and enjoying. Beyond simply an exciting past or dreamfilled future, it focuses in the present on experiences and thoughts/feelings about them that mark a life of awakened capability, sensitive awareness, total aliveness, and expanded consciousness. An almost continuous high, which I acknowledge must be balanced by down-time, relaxation and reflection – but in our crazy world, that too can be valued as amazing.
I know this has taken work, and we see the results: An even happier Larry. Yet we on the outside don’t see all the activities that go into it. And I’d suggest this is the key to discovering an amazing life: It takes focus and determination. It takes energy and effort. And only when we do this, does the world reciprocate in kind. It’s like looking in the mirror: If you want to see amazing on the outside, you need to develop being amazing from the inside.
While the coronavirus pandemic casts its shadow over our lives and the world, Andy, do you think achieving an amazing life is more challenging than ever, or even at all possible? Andy: So, here’s the thing I’ve noticed about life over the years, and about you, Larry: You’ve exemplified this over the past few months. You now have cancer. And yet I’ve never seen you more alive, vibrant and upbeat. I believe facing this dreaded condition has allowed you to prioritise, in a way that few of us allow ourselves to do. You know now what’s really important to you. You know you need to be in an amazing place to deal with this. This place is where your internal self meets the outside world. You’ve decided that negativity and indifference can no longer be a part of your life, and you have set about ridding yourself of them.
OneTribeMagazine.com
So, Larry, what does that look like for you? Larry: Andy, you’ve done a fine job of describing my cancer diagnosis (Thank God, only stage 2), and my response to it – quick and strategic, holistic and medical, passionate and purposeful. During the period of my intensive medical treatments, I didn’t feel as if I were living amazingly. But it was a matter of life and death. So, I saw no alternative to immersing myself in multiple healing modalities, especially those dealing with emotional release and

We’d be a rum mix of grizzled veterans and enthusiastic optimistic youth, discussing the many places and people that had inspired us. We’d make plans to have amazing experiences and great outcomes, knowing full well only a few would come to pass. We would be characterized by ego, ambition, honesty, humility and self-deprecation. And even a little bit of sadness for those things that had passed or were passing. And with all that amazing energy, it would make where we were the best place in the world to be – right now.
spiritual awareness. I became maximally positive, creative and conscious – more than ever before and in the moment. I did it with all my heart, and the results have been affirmative and joyful. Yes, gazing at my mortality, realizing my immense enjoyment of life, and seeing myself living for many more years, I functioned daily at a heightened level of holistic awareness, which I believe can be labelled as amazing! Ah, but what about when we aren’t confronting a high-stakes crisis? What would it look like to commit, systematize and sustain a life of amazement – based on your lifestyle choice and disregarding how it appears to others?
Larry: Andy, I like your depiction of your amazing life: Rich, comprehensive, detailed and vivid. I know why you and I chose this topic to work on together: Because we wish for an amazing life; and we like to think, feel and write using amazing images! I believe some people aim to live amazingly, while others are struggling.
But, let me ask you and our readers: Is a continually amazing life possible – beyond the short-term crisis response situation? I believe it is: Given enough clarity of vision, activated inner resources, and persistent and prolonged energy. It becomes your blueprint for living. It involves a deep understanding of your Self, and a commitment to consciousness expansion – from the ordinary reality trap and into the enlightened zone. This is the life of my dreams, with overflowing cups of insight, inspiration and fulfilment. It is inspired by the Godly attributes of will, illumination and cosmic love. While this life template involves us as a human doing, its core is our state as a human being.
To me, an amazing life is in the eye of the beholder. It’s not about continuous glory and glamour, records and awards, highs and higher highs. It’s about knowing who you are, and what you want to do with your life. And to grasp these two purposes, I believe one needs to cultivate a deeper self-knowing, apply consciousness/spirituality to co-create reality, and live vitally with a vision and values that emphasize love, joy and peace.
From my vantage point of 77 years, what an awesome lifestyle this would be for me, uplifting and enlivening the last third of my life! Andy, at the relatively youthful age of 59.5 years, what does your amazing life look like?
For you and I, an amazing life is not a party every evening or an audience wildly applauding us. It’s realizing what experiences and thoughts/feelings make life authentically and wholly worth living.
Andy:
Andy:
You know, Larry, I’m not sure. I’ve found throughout my life that some of the most amazing things that have ever happened to me were neither planned nor even imagined. I guess one of the most amazing things about life is how it can still surprise me with so many delights, things I never saw coming. So, part of my amazing life is being open to the unexpected, the unknown, the never before seen. And able to go with the flow. To respond. To make things up in the present: The synthesis that happens between me and the world right at that moment.
And you know, Larry, I believe this is my truth: Amazing isn’t about hoping for some Happy Ever After, but the active pursuit of discovery. We don’t ski to get to the bottom of the hill. We ski to have the experience of flying down the mountain, balancing our skill, daring, judgment, nerve, experience and expectation. Life is an amazing journey, an amazing adventure, to be fully and deeply experienced and appreciated. That’s what amazing means to me. Larry:
Here’s my idea of a good time: I’d be eating wonderful exotic food around a table with engaging individuals who are committed to having life-affirming experiences – living amazing lives. We’d share stories and ideas, and laugh at how our ambitions often seem greater than our achievements. And it would take place at the end of an amazing day, after an extraordinary adventure. Success or failure wouldn’t matter less than our having given it our all!
Andy, we have ended up on the same page as seekers, dreamers, thinkers, feelers and players. To love oneself, people close to us, Humanity and the Earth is to love living, and thus activate what it takes to manifest an amazing life. Andy Ferguson

Do you wish you knew how to take control of your life and empower the best version of yourself? We live within an illusion, one created by humanity. That isnít a bad thing, as long as you realise that it is an illusion. Our human story is progressing and evolving constantly into something new and we all add to this story and co-create it. We also create our own story that weaves in and out of the story of humanity. We have absolute power and authority to create this story in any way we like! Yet so many of us are hooked into this story of humanity, going along for the ride, fitting ourselves into a framework, a society, and our particular cultures, ethics, values and belief systems. All of these shape our story for us, taking our creative power away. And it happens subtly, in the background. We donít even notice that we have lost control, that something larger than us has taken over our lives, and now shapes who we are and where we are going. It is only when we stop, usually, because something major happens to us or to someone we love, that we see the mechanisms that have been in place, limiting our every decision and keeping us in check. Depression can hit at this point, as it is often hard to see a way out. Yet we can break free and, in the process, come to know our self and take control of creating the story we want. It is a choice we make. At first, it can seem impossible, but that is just our preconditioned mind attempting to protect us from something we have never experienced before. Complete freedom.
OneTribeMagazine.com
Life SEEMS to happen TO us, but we ARE still in control. We do have choices and we always have the final say. There is a lot less to fear than we think. Life seems to be constructed of limitations, but this is not so; we just believe it to be true. You are a master creator; indeed, no matter how old you are, in your life, you have created many personalities or internal characters to deal with different situations; these characters have then created scenarios for you to experience. Those experiences have in turn birthed new characters. Some of the characters you draw into your life are outside of your internal world. Yes, YOU create the people who come into your life. Not only do you attract them by the energy you put out, but you create your own very unique perception of them. That perception creates your relationship to them, which is why you may get on so well with someone that other people hate. You have the power to create all the characters in your story and you donít even realise you are doing it! Think of what you can do when you are aware! A few years ago, I began to research and use with my clients, something I now call The Magical Community of I. ëIí is the name of your inner world, rather than meaning a singular being. ëIí is actually a HUGE word because it consists of many characters and each of these characters has their own side story running alongside the overall story of your world. Can you see the parallel here? The microcosm within the macrocosm of the story of humanity? The characters in our inner world that cause issues or problems in our lives are the ones who have incomplete stories. They do all they can to grab your attention because they need your help. You are the supreme
[ 52 ]
being of your inner world, a God or Goddess, in fact. Do you pray? If so, do you constantly ask your deity for the same thing, over and over, because you feel fearful, or insecure about something? This is exactly what your characters are doing to you! And it is your job to help them. How do you do this? You go and meet them, wherever they are, using the technique I developed in The Magical Community of I. You ask them questions and see how you can help them. You give them what they need, which is usually love in some form. You feed them that love until they are satiated, then they disappear. In their place, you are left with a gift of insight, or a complete breaking down of a belief you held, or an inspirational idea. Meeting these characters helps you know and understand yourself better, while completing the stories they are in, giving them an ending. This frees you from that side story and gives you clarity in a particular area of your life. You cannot lose. Itís a win-win situation. So, when will YOU break from the story that society is writing for you and take control of your own Magical Community of I? You owe it to yourself, to all those characters in you that are waiting for your help. You owe it to humanity because each person who breaks free helps humanity write a better story for all of us. You are the greatest story never written. It is time to put on your creator hat and be free.

The Self-Writing Book When the revered teacher of myth Joseph Campbell was asked if he had a spiritual practice, he replied “I underline books.” That used to be me and still is, to some extent. It’s always a flattering surprise when a great writer or thinker comes to the same conclusion as you as if they had somehow thought your thoughts but expressed them with more clarity and beauty. But there comes a time when a book will take you so far and no farther. When I worked as a radio reporter, a banner stretched across our tiny newsroom: “Do you know it for a fact, or did someone just tell it to you?” I also recall taking home a pamphlet from a Unitarian church which had a cartoon of a group of people approaching a crossroad. There was a sign pointing to the left: “This way to Heaven,” and one pointing in the opposite direction: “This way to a good discussion
about Heaven.” The Unitarians were happily marching to the right. One fine day I determined I was no longer content with reading about how the saintly and unholy alike had direct experience with the Divine. I wanted to see it, feel it for myself. I didn’t think it was necessary to take myself off to a far-flung outpost like Ladakh or study at the feet of a venerable guru. I am not saying these are not valid paths to the essence of all things, I am just saying they are not my ways, and if you don’t insist that yours is the only way, we can still be great friends. I’ve come tantalizingly close at times. The Divine has left clues or done the celestial equivalent of leaving a trail of crumbs, but I can’t say in truth that He/She/It has touched me. I enjoy no longer having to deal with middlemen
[ 53 ]
or getting gored or hung up on dusty, dogmatic horns. It’s a cliché to maintain that the journey is as important, if not more so, than the destination, but even the shabbiest, most shopworn clichés contain a kernel of truth, damn them. I may never attain unquestionable Oneness or the mystical flashbang that forever eluded the proto-pyshcologist William James.. The game may simply end with the cessation of life, but it will, to me at least, have been a life worth living. I no longer have to read a book about experiencing the Divine. I am the book, the author and the reader both, and it is enough, it will more than suffice.

My mind wanders. Outside the sky is gray and it is raining cats and dogs. I can hear the wind coming into the house through the cracks. For the first time in a long time after a hot summer I am cold. I hear music and let my mind wander. I wonder to what extent I am actually able to think independently. We determine the correct harmony between Mind, Body, Soul and Spirit ourselves. At least, it should be. Think about it - as soon as the balance between one of those four elements is disturbed, it has immediate consequences for you. Every day we make decisions that affect what is to come. It determines our future. Sometimes they are small decisions and sometimes very big. We are responsible for our own body and mind and therefore our health. But as soon as we become ill, we rely on the doctor and place this great responsibility on him. Most physical complaints (illnesses, pain or inflammation) are caused by unaccepted emotions such as anger, rigidity. Our body has not received the loving attention it needed. We close off our energy channels, as it were. Think about this: Fracture of the leg - Wanting but not daring to break with certain conditions, feeling that you cannot move forward. (Resistance to authorities) Do you feel limited in your progress and would you
OneTribeMagazine.com
like to break out? When you break your leg, you must “forcefully” take a step in place. Your body indicates that you need to think about what you are doing. Headache, (regular) - A lot of worrying, worrying and selfdoubt. Grind about problems. Eyes - View (window) on your life, can see (over) everything. Nothing is more destructive than storing negative emotions from within and not expressing them. It is therefore important to find out why you are angry, sad or whatever. Why have you decided to allow this feeling? Ask yourself who determined that you ended up in this emotion. And the answer is simple. You do that yourself! Investigate what caused this and stop kidding yourself. You are a beautiful person who is now even more aware of your own interpretations of situations. “Take your job seriously and yourself lightly” A negative statement, for example, is to indicate that you are just like that and that it is your character - so there is little you can do about it. It is not easy to change your life but where there is a will there is a way. It is important how you were raised and who taught you what. Those thoughts form the basis of your norms and values. But don’t forget that in the end YOU are the one who determines what you believe in and what you think and do. If you keep doing what you always did, you will always get what you got. Habits are nothing but repetitions. Your personality, character, mindset,
[ 54 ]
attitude and culture evolved from these habits. Realize that. If you are not satisfied with your current situation, then you are the only one who can change this. Start, step by step. You cannot reach the top step of the ladder at once when you are at the bottom. This is done step by step. Positive thinking ensures that you will remain healthier, even in a less good time in your life. Your body responds to this. Think and Act positively in life. Be aware of your actions and thoughts through regular tempering and give lots of love, peace and joy. You will find that your life becomes more harmonious and your self-esteem and self-esteem increase. Be aware of the message that you experience with each emotion. Your body tells you something when you feel something. Your body makes you feel something and you can express what you feel.

Insanity is the fear of the unknown driving us to continue staying in places of uncomfortablity, unpleasant and difficult situations while compromising what we would love for what seems safe. We opt to stay in our heads to keep creating a story that sometimes we know it’s chaos but because it’s easier to live in chaos for it might seem safe than risk checking on what’s possible on the other side. Our brain is good at protecting us but sometimes we have to risk thinking with the heart and trust
OneTribeMagazine.com
our gut feeling or instincts. It’s not always logic we need to apply it may be about what we feel. What does your intuition say? We can only unstuck ourselves from those places by allowing ourselves to acknowledge that it is what is .....but what story do you want to create? What’s your conviction and what does your heart say? Listening to your intuition helps you avoid unhealthy relationships and situations. Throughout your life, many people will have ideas about what’s best for you, some held with good intentions and some coming from a place of deceitful, harmful or selfish intent.
[ 56 ]
Yes!... It’s sometimes hard to tell which category someone falls into, but if you put aside all of those external opinions and instead listen to the advice of your own intuition, it will guide you to what is truly best for you. Your intuition is just you knowing that THIS IS IT, it “calls the shots”... To walk on this path in life is a question of how much do you trust yourself? Only you knows you better!

Riding Rough Seas A beautiful vacation in paradise in the birth-place of steel-pan, Trinidad and Tobago. Two glorious weeks of daily sight-seeing trips to the best beaches, picturesque fishing villages and hidden gems that only the locals know about.
The way back to my seat was treacherous…the waves had kicked up…the vessel was bucking like a wild bronco and I clung to the handrail with a death grip.
Halfway thru vacation on Tobago, we planned a day-trip outing to the bigger island on Trinidad for lunch and sight-seeing. After an orderly bordering to the ferry for the 20 miles approximately 3-hour trip, we grabbed drinks and settled ourselves around a table close to the middle of the vessel.
I suspected it might be a bit of stagger, I felt relatively confident about making it there and so off I went and as anticipated the trip was a little bit wobbly but mercifully I made it.
As we sailed along I settled in comfortably and cast a gaze out the windows at the water and the sky on the horizon becoming transfixed, lulled as it was watching the undulating rise and fall of the waves and my head must have been to bob to the rhythm.
Pushing open the door to the loo and entering I came upon the most astonishing and amazing scene.
A voice broke through the hypnosis commenting “uh-oh, keep an eye on her…the crossing can be rough for some” and then the voice suggested I not look at the water. Time passed and the beverage I had earlier consumed having passed through my system which now required a visit to the ladies’ room. I could see my destination from where we sat and though
OneTribeMagazine.com
Women, women everywhere! Women splashing their faces with water at the sink, women comforting women with wet towels to the brow, women on the floor with their backs braced against the wall, women actually lying on the floor and all of it to the sounds of women throwing up in the toilet. The entire scene to me was intimate and powerful. Alas, having concluded my business I dreaded the navigation back to my companions and for a fleeting moment considered remaining there in the women’s’ room until we docked, but, instead, I took a deep breath, pulled myself together to head back to my seat.
[ 58 ]
To my abject horror, I found myself about to be in a head-on crash with another woman who appeared on the handrail across from mine and heading in my direction we both needed to switch sides and cross over to get where we were going but neither of us wanted to let go. In distress, I thought to myself but I must have wailed out loud “oh my god, how am I going to do this.” Suddenly, out of nowhere, a brawny saviour appeared. It was my travelling companion, a former soldier who snorts, inhales deeply, beats his chest and laughs in the face of ferocious weather. Taking a solid protracted stance in the middle of the passage, he grabbed my hand and grabbed the other girl’s hand and switched us each over to the opposite handrail. There really is no getting around it, when you’re riding rough seas and you’ve gone as far as you can go sometimes you gotta let go and rely on others.

Your life matters. Depending on how we read the title of this article will depend on whether we start thinking about the things going on in our lives at the moment, or whether we believe we as individuals matter in the grand scheme of things. I would argue that both are true.
The matters in hand we are dealing with on a day to day, week to week basis, sometimes even hour to hour, will ultimately shape our lives and the way we interact with others. Each and every event in our life is there to shape us, help us grow, learn and recognise the value we have inside of us. A value more valuable than any amount of gold, crude oil or diamond mine could ever produce. And yet, so many people do not see their own value. Is this social conditioning? Perhaps. Is it religious programming? Maybe. But as adults we all get to choose what beliefs we hold about the world we live in, and how we view ourselves. We get to choose whether we blame our lack of success on our upbringing, past hurts and traumas, employers, the government, or as many have been doing over the last few months, blaming the invisible enemy of COVID 19 for the lack of work and income available to us. You see, it’s all very easy to blame external forces, or other people for the lack of happiness, health and success we have in life, because we get to avoid being responsible for ourselves and our own choices. We get to blame a narrative which suits us, and we feel vindicated when others follow suit. It doesn’t
OneTribeMagazine.com
[ 60 ]
matter to us whether we are all blindly following, so long as we all blindly follow together. ‘Where goes one, goes all’ is a phrase which springs to mind. Those of us who choose not to be controlled and led by narratives are quickly ostracised, berated and called stupid, ignorant and the latest favourite ‘conspiracy theorist’. Name calling is so much easier and kinder to our egos than actually asking “Why does this person think this way?” because to ask that, would also be detrimental to ourselves because we haven’t considered why we think a certain way. Asking ourselves important life changing questions isn’t easy, nor is standing alone in our purpose or going against the grain. Asking ourselves ego killing, deep questions which rattle our bones and shake our molecules takes courage, and it means we have to let go of the stories and the victimhood we have held onto for so long, many we are not even aware of. Those who choose to ‘do the innerwork’ and let go of baggage from the past, tend to see their value a lot more than most. We tend to speak our truth and show up in the world in a way that triggers the hell out of people. We understand our triggers are the steppingstones to greatness, so when we get triggered we lean into them.

We get curious about them, and we use them to propel us forward. Those who don’t, get jealous, some become spiteful, others run as far away from the trigger as they can, only to see it show up again, and again, and again. Take for example the image I use on my social media and website with my body warmer covering my mouth with my eyes looking directly into the camera. A powerful image, and one that many people do not like. They say it is not professional. They say it will prevent people working with me. They say it can’t be used to promote podcasts and events I speak at. But here’s the thing about that photo. It is a professionally taken photo, and it is completely on brand. People who tell me that are choosing to not use it in promo material because I have my mouth covered, allows me to me to ask them these questions: “So if I was a woman who wore a niqab, would you refuse to invite me onto your show? Or would you ask me to remove my niqab?” Perfectly relevant questions, and one which doesn’t land well with others. The photo clearly demonstrates the laser focus I have. In my eyes you can see the cheeky, playful nature I have, and it shows I am an outdoorkinda-gal. A lot of the work I do with clients as we dive deep into unveiling their real message and story for their up and coming books, is generally about the hidden, unspoken truths they have been wanting to speak for so long, but been afraid to speak, let alone write and share with the world. Writing an autobiography, one that is worth the space it takes up on a bookshelf, requires my clients to get
OneTribeMagazine.com
deep down and dirty with who they are. My author coaching isn’t really about writing a book, it is about my client owning who they are, standing in their truth, and realising their true value. We work on their purpose, their legacy and most of the time we transform their business model and increase their prices to figures they had always dreamed of charging but were too afraid to. When I write their biography, I get to present to them the way in which I see them, and trust me, if I didn’t feel they were a human who the world needed to know about, I wouldn’t spend the months researching them and holding space for them as we go through one of the most powerful healing and transformational processes on the planet. Asking for more money, either from your boss, your clients or those who wish to collaborate with you takes a lot of courage. It is a battle of self-worth and ownership very few people are willing to take part in. Again choosing to resent others who do charge fees and have standards of living many of us could only dream of, failing to understand we are just as important, and just as valuable as each other. We are all equal, someone of us just don’t believe that though, and many don’t want to believe it. With recent events around the world, people who fell into fear and paranoia believing everything the media and governments said, are now being faced with the disturbing truth that we have all been lied to more than ever before. They have a choice to make, keep believing the lies to save face, or actually stand up and be counted. With the vast number of people, especially children, now committing suicide are we ready to say: “We matter!”?
[ 62 ]
With our children’s education and future prospects being manipulated by the day, are we ready to stand for our children? Are we ready to say: “My learning and ability to question everything is worth listening to!”? Or are we going to simply keep following blindly, keep playing the victim in our world of drama, pointing the fingers at others whilst ignoring the three pointing back at us, and listening to the fresh set of lies as they unfold before us? Allowing others to keep us stuck, keeping us prisoners in our own minds is the worst thing we could do for ourselves and future generations. Many of us have been surrounded by people telling us not to celebrate our success, to not ‘show off’, to not go after what we want, to not speak our truth and to not ‘rock the boat’, to ‘choose our battles wisely’, and it is these people we need to step away from, because these are the people keeping us stuck. They are projecting a certain value onto us, and they have no right to do that. We get to choose how valuable we are. We get to choose how much we matter to ourselves, to the world and to the future generations, and we get to choose who remains on the path to greatness with us. Your life matters. But it only matters as much as you are willing to believe it matters.
