EXCERSISE #2
“Mapping Space”
Focus on: How symmetry interacts 2 dimensionally versuse 3 dimensionally.
An unrolled plan of my formu lated cube
AXON
Drawn Axonometric angle of the cube using constructions lines
EXCERSICE
THE “REFLECTED PATTERN” MODEL
WEIGHT
When approaching designing my models I wanted to explore gravi ty, and weight. Both hold extreme impacts on objects and I wanted to see how it could impact the spacial quality of my models
SPACE
Space was another major theme I also wanted to explore. Once I thought about weight I began to approach space and how it can impact the experience of view ing my models
PROJECT #1
Exploration of Gallery space
Focus on:
Complextiy in spacially simplistic enviroments, Hinge, private vs public, intimacy
When beginning my piece I intially referenced the Fisher House by Louis Khan as inspiration and precedent. My classmate and I (Drew McMullen) created the above collage together.
RESEARCH AND PRECEDENT
I was then assigned an artist to keep in mind while designing my space. The artist I received was Paul Mpagi Sepuya.
The stairs are the key point of my design given that it directs the pathway of experience when viewing the art on the walls
