More Activities TALENT SHOW: Never fear, it wouldn’t be a season at Desert Shadows if we didn’t have a talent show put on by our ever so talented park people. You won’t be disappointed, it is an evening of fun. Come and see what they are up to this season. The show will be Tuesday, February 25th and Wednesday the 26th. The doors open at 6:30PM with the show starting at 7:00PM. You can come to the activity office and pick up your ticket for $1.00 each. DINNER INFORMATION: It was brought to my attention that our new residents and traveling visitors are not familiar with our table set-up and service for our dinners. We have four Dinners during the season that the park provides the meat for our meal. The tables are set for 16 people and a food table provided for the food they bring for the meal. The tables will have colored table clothes and are numbered, the food table will match the dinning table color and number so it will help keep it from being confusing. You need to sign up on the sign up sheet that is posted in the lobby an there is one name per line with each person listing what food item they will bring to the dinner. You also need to bring your own table service and beverage. Coffee will be provided. There are volunteers that prepare and carve the meat. A tray of meat is put on each food table and the 16 people will eat the food that those 16 have brought and placed on their table. Volunteers are always needed for clean up after the dinner and is very much appreciated. If there are any questions or concerns please come to the activity office and we will be glad to help you out. PARK PLAY: The park play will be Tuesday, March 4th and Wednesday, March 5th name of play is “Town Meeting”. The doors will be open 6:30 and show at 7:00pm. Computer User’s Group The Desert Shadows Computer Users Group is open to everyone. We meet Wednesdays at 10:30 in the Back Auditorium. We typically have a 30-45 minute presentation on a computer related topic, which is always followed by at least 30 minutes of group-generated questions and answers. The group is very informal, with an easy give-andtake atmosphere. Within the group, there are “experts” on both Windows-based pc computers (Dell, HP, Acer, Sony, etc) and (Apple)/mac-based computers, who can help with questions. Meetings usually last from 1 to 1-1/2 hours. (Stay as long as you can.) If you would like some personal help, please come to one of our meetings to make contact with an “expert”. Scheduled Meetings and Topics in February: 2/5/14: Open Forum and Problem Solving: We will answer questions and attempt to verbally solve any problems you may have. For questions that cannot be verbally answered immediately and

you have brought your computer with you, personal hands-on help can hopefully be given after the verbal Q & A, as time allows. Questions and problem descriptions submitted by email, by 2/4/14: will take precedence, as our “experts” will have some time to give them some thoughts. Em a i l s t o J e f f M i c h a e l p l e a s e, a t kamx3sj@gmail.com 2/12/14: Web Browsers & Surfing the Web What are browsers? Which ones should you use? Which ones should you avoid? What websites should you avoid? Which ones are "safe"? Q & A after the presentation. 2/19/14: Passwords: Why do we need them? What is a ”strong” password? How do I remember them. Should I write them down? What is a password manager? How do they work? Q & A after the presentation. 2/26/14: Video/Photo Preservation: How to preserve old photos and videos on digital media. Q & A after the presentation.
