VOLUNTEERS We need volunteers to keep our activities and events running smoothly. Please come by the Activities Office to be added to our list or update your information. Some of our volunteer opportunities have benefits like a free donut or free breakfast. We have a Volunteer Appreciation Lunch for all of our Volunteers. Our volunteers help make Desert Shadows a special community. We appreciate everything you do to help out! In the spirit of helping out, I’m looking for five or six volunteers that would like to meet once or twice during the season to listen to dvd’s or watch online bands and entertainers. I ask that you be a regular dance attendee and you come with an open mind. Once we listen, we will discuss if they are worth having them come to our park. Many of the entertainers are out of our normal budget but if they are worth more I will do my best to negotiate a fair fee that we all can live with. If you’re interested please let me know. Thanks! VETERAN’S DAY PROGRAM We will have a special program outside at 9AM in front of the main building by the flag. If you are available please join us. If you are interested in participating by saying a prayer or sharing a special story we would enjoy that. Please let me know so I can add you to our program. I want to thank all of our residents past and present that have selflessly fought and worked for our country to make this world a better place to live. PET COURTESY As we start filling up I want to bring up a topic dear to my heart. Our Pets! One of our pet rules is all dogs must be under direct control and on leash when not in the home. If your leash is 10 feet long and you are walking on the side walk your dog is likely going to be able to reach the yards on your path, so be careful and please don’t allow your dog to go on someone else’s space. This includes vacant spaces that are not rented out at the moment. There are 4 designated dog runs for your pets to use, please use them. Remember you are to be in control of your dog not the other way around. Please be considerate! Thank You!
Everyone who plays golf is welcome. The format is a 4 man scramble, so every level of golfer will have a good time.
NEW TRASH AND WATER USAGE POLICY In order to conserve water and protect our roads, the Water Policy was updated last year. Washing of vehicles, RV’s or Park Models is not allowed except with a pressure washer and on your space only. No Washing of vehicles in the street. No water is allowed to run into the street. Hosing off your patio and or driveway is not allowed unless you hose it off towards the side of your lot so no water gets in the street. Letting water run in the street from overwatering plants and trees is not allowed. Violation rule will result in a warning for 1st offense and $40.00 fine per additional offense. Garbage is to be contained in a trash bag. No small grocery store bags will be picked up, it must be a 13 gallon or larger bag. Landscape limbs must be tied in a bundle. Leaves must be in trash bags. Construction debris must be hauled off by the contractor. There is a fee for using the dumpster for bulk trash. No boxes will be picked up. Please place cardboard in recycle bins by the mail boxes. Page 4
There will be a list of 3 items from the menu, plus the fish fry. Everyone who is planning to eat dinner must choose from these four items on the day of sign up. Sign up as a couple (one guy and one gal). You will probably not be playing with that person, but we need an even number of men and women. If you do not have a partner to sign up with, come anyway. We will put your name on an alternate list, and find you a partner.
This is a social event, as well as a golf event, and it is a very enjoyable day. See you on Nov. 19, 2016 at 9AM. If you have questions please call Bill Pudlik at 734-777-1075 or Doris Kelly at 623-581-8672.
