RESORT ACTIVITIES

The Desert Sun

DESERT SHADOWS

SATURDAY BREAKFAST:

Guess what? It is fall of 2014 which means another season is starting at Desert Shadows RV Resort. As time makes its progression towards winter some things are certain, the days will get shorter, the nights will get longer, and we will see the return of a lot of friendly faces. Everyone at Desert Shadows would like to offer a big welcome to our returning residents and those joining us for the first time. Remember your name tag is a great way to help us all get reacquainted with each other and to welcome new friends; that’s why we encourage everyone to wear their name tag. WEEKLY ACTIVITIES: Our busy activities schedule wouldn’t be possible without our amazing and dedicated group of volunteers. As we eagerly await the return of volunteers, we must also await the full slate of activities they coordinate. Keep an eye on the bulletin board in the lobby to keep up-to-date as all the fun begins. We love to hear from you, so if you have any ideas or suggestions let us know. As always, we welcome new volunteers!

Join us for something to eat every Saturday morning! If it's not donuts and coffee one morning it's all-youcan-eat pancakes!! That's right, every Saturday we have either coffee and donuts or a pancake breakfast! Saturday, October 18th will be our first Donut Saturday of the season! You are more than welcome to come and enjoy fresh donuts for just .75 each and all the FREE coffee you can drink! It’s the perfect opportunity to socialize and get to know each other. Our first pancake breakfast will be Saturday, November 15th. Tickets are just $4 each and are available for purchase from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. that day. That was not a typo, just $4 gets you scrambled eggs, sausage, orange juice, tea or coffee, and of course all the pancakes you can eat! Keep an eye on your calendar to see if it’s going to be a coffee and donuts or a pancake breakfast kind of Saturday!

Quote Of The Month:

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted..

Guy’s and Gal’s Golf Time to sign up for the bi-annual Guys and Gals Golf Tournament, on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. in the Craft Room. The tournament will be held on Friday, November 14th, at the Bellair Golf Course, and the banquet will be that same evening. This tournament is for everyone who plays golf. The only requirement is that you come and sign up with a partner (guy and gal). This does not mean that you will be playing with that person, but we need an even number of guys and gals for our foursomes. If you do not have a partner, you can sign up on our “alternate” list and we may be able to pair up some of the singles. We play a scramble game, playing best ball, therefore every level of golfer will have a good time. The entry fee is $10.00 a person. Dinner will be at the Iron Works, immediately following the tournament. You will be given a choice of four items off the menu, including the Fish Fry. At the time of signup you must pay your entry fee and make your dinner selection.
