DESERT SHADOWS
Welcome to 2015 as another year has come and gone. Now we start off the New Year at Desert Shadows with lots to do in January. Remember to keep your newsletter and calendar handy so you can refer to it so you don’t miss any of the activities. There will also be information on the white board and bulletin board in the lobby. NATIONAL PIE DAY: I didn’t even know there was such a day, but my calendar lists Friday, January 23rd as National Pie Day. We sure can’t pass up a day like that so you can come to the activity office and buy a ticket ($1.00) for a piece of pie. You MUST have a ticket in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door. We need to know ahead of time how many are joining us for pie so we make sure we have enough on hand. Wednesday January 21st will be the LAST day to get your ticket. VENDOR’S DAY Friday, January 9th is the next vendor’s day, sales start at 10:00am ends at 1:00pm. You need to come and see what all the vendor’s have, we have had some new vendor’s this season. It is just a fun time to shop and have a hot dog lunch. DONUTS: January 10th, 24th and 31st are Donut Saturdays at 7:30 AM. They will be served until gone and cost 75 cents each. Come socialize and have a donut and a cup of free coffee.

FASHION SHOW: The ladies fashion show will be on Monday, January 19th. The sale will begin at 10:00am and go until 2:00pm. There will be lunch at 11:30 with fashion show following lunch. There will be a sign up sheet posted in the lobby for the ladies to sign up if you are brining a salad or a desert to share. If you are interested in being a model please come to the activity office and sign up. NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH: We had one neighborhood watch meeting and there was a good number of people who attended. We are in the process of getting additional information to pass along and will be scheduling another meeting soon. Please watch the boards in front lobby for dates and times. Your help and participation is needed for success. There is one thing we can all do now and that is to WEAR OUR NAME TAGS, that will help when we see people we are not familiar with to identify them as park residents before we ask questions of them. Please just keep and eye on your surroundings, and please do not open doors to someone you do not know especially late at night. Tell them if they need help you will call 911 for them.
