Okeechobee KOA Resort is your tropical vacation campground, featuring a palm-fringed 9-hole golf course, driving range and putting green. Nearby Lake Okeechobee, known as Florida's Inland Sea and referred to as the “Big O”, is the largest freshwater lake in Florida and offers the best boating and fishing in the area.

Activities are endless within the resort! Play tennis or pickleball, hike the Big O trail or soak in one of our 2 resort pools or hot tub. Visit our fully equipped fitness center for a great workout, or take in a 9-hole game of golf.

CAMPFIRE RULES

1. Use designated fire pits only.

2. Keep anything combustible at least 10 feet away from the fire pit. This includes aerosol cans and pressurized containers.

3. Clear the area of leaves or other debris that may catch fire.

4. Never start a fire with any flammable liquids such as gasoline or lighter fluid. Use crumpled paper or store-bought firewood covered with small sticks for burning.

5. Keep water or a fire extinguisher and a shovel, if you have one, nearby in case the fire gets out of hand.

6. Do not light fires on windy days or nights. Put the fire out at the first sign of increased winds.

7. Obey any local burn bans.

8. After lighting the fire, do not discard the match until it is cold. Douse with water to be sure.

9. Use only the amount of wood necessary to keep the fire burning under control.

10. Stack extra firewood upwind, away from the fire.

11. While the fire is burning, be sure there is a responsible adult in attendance of the fire at all times.

12. Keep children and pets away from the fire pits and never leave them unattended, even after the flames are out, as there is still a chance of a child or a pet getting burned.

13. Never allow hot dog or marshmallow roasting without adult supervision, and be sure there is plenty of space between campers while roasting.

PUTTING OUT YOUR CAMPFIRE

1. Drown the fire with water. Make sure all embers, sticks, and logs are wet.

2. Stir the remains, add more water, and stir again. Be sure all burned material has been put out and cooled. Feel above the fire with the back of your hand to make sure it is out cold.

5. Never leave children or pets unattended near a fire pit, even if you believe the fire is out cold. BUILDING

3. Before you leave the fire pit, be sure all embers, sticks and logs are completely extinguished. Never go to bed and allow the fire to burn itself out.
