Campfires are the responsibility of the guest. Federal law and Ranch Policy require that campfires must be contained in the designated fire ring. Fires must be attended to at all times and extinguished before leaving them unattended. Fires must be thoroughly doused with water by 11:00 pm. Do not move the fire ring. Cutting any standing trees on the premises is prohibited. This includes small saplings (the trees of the next generation).
Speed Limits for safety and consideration of other guests. The Ranch speed limit is 10 mph with the following exceptions: On the road to Ranch Camp it is 15 mph. In camping and activity areas, which includes the office, swimming pool and horse corral, the speed limit is 5 mph
Visitors: Are welcome between the hours of 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. Visitors must stop at the office and obtain a visitor’s pass at registration. Only 2 vehicles are allowed to park on a campsite or cabin site. Extra vehicles must park at a designated parking area; ask at registration.
Pets: Are welcome when kept quiet, attended, cleaned up after and are leashed at all times. For insurance reasons we cannot accept breeds such as Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, or Chows on the property. Campsites: There is a charge of $3 per night per pet with a maximum of 3 pets per campsite. Cabins: There is a charge of $10 per night for dogs in traditional cabins, $20 per night for dogs in comfort cabins, and $30 per night in Ranch Cabins. There is a maximum of 2 dogs allowed in Cabins.
Vehicles: Washing of vehicles is not allowed as we are not on a city water system. Hill City has car wash facilities only 3 miles north. ALL VEHICLES MUST STAY ON ROADS AND GRAVEL PADS OF SITES. DO NOT DRIVE ON THE GRASS. Generators are not allowed.
Gray Water: Cannot be emptied on the ground. It must be disposed of in the campsite sewer receptacle or dump station.
Ranch Store: Groceries, camping supplies, health and beauty items, souvenirs, ice, and firewood.
Damages: Anyone who damages campground property will be liable for the cost of repairs or replacement. All cabins are non-smoking - there is a $100 penalty for smoking inside cabins. Customers will be held responsible for any theft of campground property.
Swimming Pool & Hot Tub: Our large heated pool and hot tub are open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. There is no lifeguard on duty. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. After 7:00 pm the Hot Tub is open to ages 16 and above. Open the Friday before Memorial Day until Labor Day.
Fishing: Spring and Sunday Creeks are periodically stocked by the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department. Fishing tackle is available in The Ranch store. Fishing licenses may be purchased in Hill City.
Hiking: The Ranch is surrounded by the Black Hills National Forest. You are welcome to HIKE anywhere in the National Forest. Please avoid housing, maintenance and barn areas at The Ranch.
Bathhouses: Services are free to registered guests only.
Incoming Mail: Go to General Delivery, HIll City Post Office, Hill City, SD 57745. UPS and FedEX deliveries accepted at campground.
ATV/UTV Rules and Regulations: All ATV/UTVs are restricted to only sites with the length and size to accommodate them. Additional vehicles such as ATVs or UTVs must be registered at the front desk during check in. ATV/UTVs are allowed in the campground at a cost of $10 per night per site.
Additional vehicles or trailers that do not fit on the gravel area of the site may be asked to park in an area that will accommodate them. Washing of vehicles of any kind is prohibited on the campground. All vehicles must be operated by licensed drivers over 18 years of age and must stay off the grass at all times.
