Brief History of Utah and salt Lake City

Spanish and American explorers in the early 1800’s visited the region, with trappers in the North of Utah and fortune seekers and Franciscan Monks in Southern Utah. These explorers are immortalized in statues on top of the city building on State Street and 400 South, which is also the site of the first encampment of the “Mormon” pioneers.
