A Message From the Board of Commissioners
Dear Friends, We’re pleased to present to you the 2017 Dauphin County Resource DIRECTORY for the Caregiver, Aging, and Disabled!, a handbook of local, state, and national resources available for adults 50 and over, caregivers, and persons with disabilities. From information about adult daycare and home care services to volunteer opportunities and Medicare providers, this guide includes a host of resources that can help improve your quality of life. Dauphin County’s Area Agency on Aging also offers a variety of programs and assistance for adults age 60 and over, including oneon-one counseling for Medicare enrollment, food vouchers to farmers markets, elder abuse protection and investigation, and more. For more information about these programs, call the agency at (717) 780-6130 or visit www.dauphincounty.org. In addition, On-Line Publishers will host its annual 50plus EXPO in Dauphin County on May 9 at the Hershey Lodge. It’s another great opportunity to learn about businesses and organizations in our area and to speak directly with providers. Visit www.50plusexpopa.com or call (717) 285-1350 for more information. Our goal is to help you stay healthy and live life to the fullest, and we hope this guide will help you. Very truly yours,
Jeff Haste Chairman

A Message From the Publisher Whether you’re searching for help for yourself or navigating the role of caregiver for someone who is aging or disabled, the path toward locating needed assistance often feels more like an overwhelming maze. From insurance and healthcare to support groups and advocacy services, you’re sure there are professional resources available—but you’re not sure where to start looking. That maze begins to thicken and loom. The Dauphin County Resource DIRECTORY for the Caregiver, Aging, and Disabled is here to clear the way. An extensive source of local, regional, and national information, the Resource DIRECTORY connects you to an abundance of organizations, businesses, and services for Dauphin Countians who are over age 50, who are caring for a loved one, or who have disabilities. Within its hundreds of easy-to-read listings, you’ll find options for housing, physicians, veterans’ services, legal counsel, advocacy, home improvement, and more. Plus, we include contact information for Dauphin County police departments, post offices, and emergency services, as well as county, state, and federal government phone numbers for your convenience. The Resource DIRECTORY is available in print and online at www.50plusLifePA.com, so it’s accessible whenever and wherever you need it. The Dauphin County Resource DIRECTORY for the Caregiver, Aging, and Disabled would not be possible without the financial support and community dedication of its sponsors and advertisers. We thank them for helping us “simplify the maze” so that people across Dauphin County can access the resources that can improve their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Sincerely,
Donna K. Anderson, Publisher
