SUPPORTING THE HOMELESS IN SALFORD

Emmaus Salford, located in the heart of Salford, is a charity that supports people who have experienced homelessness.

Our work is centred around our residential community, where people who have experienced homelessness come to make a home for as long as they need.

People who join our community, known as companions, commit to working to the best of their ability in our community including our shops, food pantry, school uniform hub, and the running of the community itself cooking, maintenance, driving and gardening.

Work is an important part of the Emmaus ethos as it provides a focus and purpose each day, as well as an opportunity for personal development, plus allowing companions to directly contribute to supporting the running of our charity.

Whilst at Emmaus Salford, people access support, training and personal development to gain the skills and resilience needed to move forward positively in their lives.

The charity is not religious but has kept the name because of its symbolism. The biblical story which, describes how two men saw the resurrected Jesus on the road to the town of Emmaus, and so regained hope.

How to pronounce Emmaus, eh-MAY-uhs.

Want to get involved? We are always looking for reliable volunteers who can provide a minimum of four hours support per week, this includes driving, gardening, supporting our shops, upcycling, food pantry or school uniform hub.

We also welcome donations - monetary, food, furniture, clothing, or by fund raising.
