TECH ROCKETSHIP AWARDS: Koala Tech, Propdata and Spotlite were the winning start-ups winning startups

The Tech Rocketship Awards (TRAs) program, promoted in Portugal by the Department of Investment & Trade (DIT), of the United Kingdom Embassy, which aims to attract innovation in the technological area to the UK ecosystem, already has winners. The event took place on the 19th of May, in Lisbon, and had two moments: a masterclass promoted by the Global Entrepreneur Program (GEP) of DIT, on how to prepare the perfect pitch and how to develop strategies for the global market; and another moment, in the form of a pitching session, with candidate companies to present their business to a panel of judges.

There were 10 Portuguese companies amongst the candidates, in six categories: Artificial Intelligence (AI), 5G, Agrotechnology (AgriTech), Digital Health (Digital Health), Cybersecurity (Cyber Security) and Climate Technology (Climate Tech). The choice fell on the startups Koala Tech, Propdata and Spotlite. Koala Tech distinguished itself in the 5G category. It seeks to address the lack of energy efficiency and security in wireless communications systems, both public and military.

Propdata is a marketing company that is exclusively dedicated to the sale of real estate online. Spotlite is an infrastructure monitoring system based on satellite imagery, which provides analysis on a wide range of risks for assessment. Both work in the artificial intelligence sector. The three winners will now participate in the European semi-finals in September. The intention is to be selected for the grand final, scheduled for November, when this year’s winners will be announced. This will take place in a “Shark Tank” format, where the finalists will have to make a brief pitch of their solution, in front of a panel made up of leaders in the business sector, venture capitalists and technological experts. Winners have the opportunity to take advantage of an individualized acceleration program, with access to the investor ecosystem, incubators and highpotential sector initiatives.
