Jake Schwager and Jackson Myer met while working together at McDonald’s. “Jackson proposed to me. It was on Valentine’s Day 2019. We were sitting at a lookout when he handed me a present. I opened it to find a candle and tied to the candle was a small bag with a ring on it. I looked at Jackson to see him smiling. I asked what it was and he said, ‘you know what it is’. I wanted him to ask me, but he wouldn’t! Still to this day he hasn’t asked me but I obviously said ‘Yes’. Then we celebrated at a restaurant over a nice dinner.”

“We were married exactly five years after we started dating. We saw our wedding as more of a casual dinner with our family and friends set in a beautiful and relaxed location, which is why Mavis Kitchen & Cabins was the perfect choice for us. All the staff were amazing and we became a part of the Mavis family. Peter and Charlie, the owners at the time, were a major reason why we chose the venue. We spent four hours wandering the property and I would say we have been back at least a hundred times since that first visit. Their events team were amazing. Sharon and Peter helped with all the planning before the day. Ursula was amazing with setting up the whole venue. Clive prepared the best feast cooked over the fire and in the smoker. Roberta made an amazing wedding cake and Rosa, Alex, Grant, Tammy and Ricky all made us feel welcome every visit and were so helpful on the day. Our highlight was spending the day with all our loved ones in between lockdowns (thanks Covid).”

“Our advice for other couples planning their wedding is don’t overthink it. If you find a good venue they will do most of the work for you so you can relax and be in the moment on the day. For our honeymoon we went on a road trip and travelled as far south as we could before we hit a Covid hotspot! Our original plan was Singapore and Thailand but we had to skip that for now.”
