AUSTRALASIAN HAUTE COUTURE WEDDING CAKE DESIGNER OF THE YEAR AWARD

The ACADA Australasian Haute Couture Wedding Cake Designer of the Year Award is part of the ACADA (Australasian Cake Artists & Decorators Association) Australasian Cake Oscar Awards. It is designed to applaud the work of the best of the best within an industry of very talented cake creatives. The public were invited to nominate their favourite Haute Couture wedding cake designer and almost 4,000 nominations were received from all over Australian and New Zealand. The public were then asked to vote to select 8 Finalists whose work was then assessed by a panel of industry judges. Next, the Finalists were given a challenge set by Lux Magazine Top 20 Global Wedding Planner, Alysia Bridger. Alysia paired each Finalist with a Brisbane-based Bridal Gown Designer to create an exquisite gown to inspire them to create their couture wedding cake. The cakes and gowns were displayed in the Haute Couture Wedding Cake Designers’ Marquee and the winner was selected by the public attending the ACADA International Cake Show Australia Show in Brisbane in May 2021.

The Game of Thrones Sugar Feature was 6m x 3m and entirely edible! It was transported to the show by truck from Yamba by one of the ACADA members, Allison Turner, who won BEST MAJOR SUGAR FEATURE and CAKE ARTIST OF THE YEAR.
