Hiplet fuses classical pointe technique with African, Latin, hip-hop and urban dance styles that are rooted in communities of color. By mixing ballet with current popular songs familiar to audiences who don’t normally attend ballet, Hiplet is making ballet accessible to all. Performances may incorporate the rhythms of African drums with Tchaikovsky, arabesques and beat-boxing or even Sponsored by tango en pointe—all while showcasing Hiplet’s trademark sass, hip movements, and struts to popular music.

SH A R E YOU R RESP ONSE AND FEEDBACK TO OPENI NGNI GHTS @FSU.E DU

WELCOME TO THE SHOW! Thank you for joining the Opening Nights in Class presentation of Hiplet Ballerinas. Everyone in the audience is looking forward to seeing the performance, so it's very important to remember the rules of theatre etiquette to ensure that everyone can have a fun, respectful and safe experience.

THEATRE ETIQUETTE 1. Dress comfortably as you would for attending a special event with your friends or family. 2. Be on time. Being on time in the theater means arrive early, about 30-45 minutes before the start time. 3. Stay with your class at all times. Wait for the ushers to help you find your seat. They will help you find your school’s designated section. 4. No gum, food, drinks or candy are allowed in the theater during a performance. 5. Please use the restroom before taking your seat. Leaving your seat in the middle of the performance is disruptive. 6. Turn off your cell phone. 7. Taking pictures or video recording the performance is not allowed. 8. Stay in your seat! The lights will dim just before the performance begins, and then go dark. Show respect by sitting calmly and quietly once the performance begins. 9. There is no talking or whispering once the performance has begun and remember to keep body movements to a minimum. 10. Always be polite and attentive. 11. You are allowed to clap, laugh and participate with enthusiasm. It is your way of telling the performers you enjoyed their show! 12. Do not leave your seat until the performers have taken their final bow at the end and the lights in the concert hall come up. 13. You will be dismissed by school to return to your buses. Please remain in your seats until your school is dismissed.
