Juliet Rickard, Director of NCYO said: “We are delighted to have chosen OPEN as NCYO’s residence. Not only is the acoustic perfect for orchestral music, the venue offers flexible spaces for rehearsals, performances and workshops but also a creative environment for our composition groups. Its mission to make a positive difference to the lives of young people is clearly aligned to our own musical ambitions and all the facilities of its drop-in social hub are an added attraction and base for our musicians.”

All the profits generated by events like Oktoberfest Norwich 2017, held within our venue, enable our youth charity to offer free access to its new gym facility for young people.
O
ne young person who accesses OPEN’s Gym is Tom Hitchcock-Wyatt, who came to the charity back in June 2017, following his struggles with confidence and anxiety. Tom’s aspirations are to be a powerlifter and to one day represent Team GB in competitions. Speaking about the free use of a gym Tom said: “I would be lost without this facility. I owe everything to OPEN and the opportunities that it has given me. I now feel healthier and happier both mentally and physically and
thanks to OPEN my life is back on track.” Tom is also part of the operations team working on events. Every penny of profit earned through live music, conferencing, meeting room hire, catering, café, climbing wall and public events, like Oktoberfest Norwich, which raised over £10,000 in 2017, goes directly to fund activities for young people, giving the most disadvantaged the life skills and confidence to follow their passion or find meaningful work. The
gym especially teaches self-discipline, prevents antisocial behaviour, discourages segregation and promotes healthy living and wellbeing.
