I AM The Goddess, ALL Are The Goddess By Char In 1999 Lauren Raine created 30 masks of the Goddess for the Spiral Dance Festival in San Francisco. Her project, The Masks Of The Goddess traveled the world, spreading their message of the divine feminine from community to community. Lauren Raine published a book on her journey titled, The Masks Of The Goddess, Sacred Masks & Dance. Many women wore these masks in ritual theater and dance, bringing their message to their community. In 2008 the masks were retired. I believe their retirement was a necessary resting time, a time to regenerate their energy to bring to the world again. I was drawn to a woman who had 13 of these masks “resting” in her home and care. My proposal to bring 6 masks and their message to our community was welcomed by her with an open heart. She told me she had felt the masks were ready to continue their journey and she had been waiting for the right opportunity. The project, I Am The Goddess, ALL Are The Goddess was born! Brought to you by Nine Houses of Gaia, this project is a vessel for these powerful masks to channel their message of the divine feminine to all who need to hear Her message. The world we live in is changing; the need for divine presence is great. It is a time for all to embrace the message of love, acceptance, peace and healing that the Goddess embodies. Each mask has a unique message to give to the world and all who pause to listen. Each mask represents a powerful archetype Goddess that speaks to us through all time.

Open Ways
The Mother's Song by Jean M. Auel Out of the darkness, the chaos of time, The whirlwind gave birth to the Mother sublime She woke to Herself knowing life had great worth, The dark empty void grieved the Great Mother Earth. The Mother was Lonely. She was the Only. From the dust of Her birth She created the other, A pale shining friend, a companion, a brother. The grew up together, learned to love and to care, And when She was ready, they decided to pair. Around Her he'd hover. Her pale shining lover.
She was happy at first with Her one counterpart. Then the Mother grew restless, unsure in Her heart. She loved Her fair friend, Her dear complement, But something was missing, Her love was unspent.
6
Spring Equinox 2012
Open Ways She was the Mother. She needed another. She dared the great void, the chaos, the dark, To find the cold home of the life-giving spark. The whirlwind was fearsome, the darkness complete. Chaos was freezing, and reached out for Her heat. The Mother was brave. The danger was grave. She drew from cold chaos the creative source, then conceiving within, She fled with life-force. she grew with the life that She carried inside. And gave Herself with love and with pride. The Mother was bearing. Her life She was sharing. The dark empty void and the vast barren Earth, With anticipation, awaited the birth. Life drank from Her blood, it breathed from Her bones. It split Her skin open and sundered Her stones. The Mother was giving. Another was living. Her gushing birth waters filled rivers and seas, And flooded the land, giving rise to the trees. From each precious drop new grass and leaves grew, And lush verdant plants made all the Earth new. Her waters were flowing. New green was growing. In violent labor spewing fire and strife, She struggled in pain to give birth to new life. Her dried clotted blood turned to red-ochre soil, But the radiant child made it all worth the toil. The Mother's great joy. A bright shining boy. Mountains rose up spouting flames from their crests, She nurtured Her son from Her mountainous breasts. He suckled so hard, the sparks flew so high, the Mother's hot milk laid a path in the sky. His life had begun. She nourished Her son.

7
Open Ways He laughed and he played, and he grew big and bright. He lit up the darkness, the Mother's delight. She lavished Her love, he grew bright and strong, But son he matured, not a child for long. Her son was near grown. His mind was his own. She took from the source for the life She'd begun. Now the cold empty void was enticing Her son. The Mother gave love, but the youth longed for more, For knowledge, excitement, to travel, explore. Chaos was Her foe. But Her son yearned to go. He stole from Her side as the Great Mother slept, While out of the dark swirling void chaos crept. With tempting inducements the darkness beguiled, Deceived by the whirlwind, chaos captured Her child. The dark took Her son. The young brilliant one. The Mother's bright child, at first overjoyed, Was soon overwhelmed by the black frigid void. Her unwary offspring, consumed with remorse, Could not escape the mysterious force. Chaos would not free. Her rash progeny. But just as the dark pulled him into the cold, The Mother woke up, reached out and caught hold. To help Her recover Her radiant son, the Mother appealed to the pale shining one. The Mother held tight. And kept him in sight. she welcomed him back, Her loved of old, With heartache and sorrow, Her story She told. Her dear friend agreed to join in the fight, To rescue Her child from his perilous plight. She told of her grief. And the darkness swirling thief.

Spring Equinox 2012
Open Ways The Mother was tired, She had to recover, She loosened Her hold to Her luminous lover. While She was sleeping, he fought the cold force, And for a time drove it back to the source. His spirit was strong. The encounter too long. Her fair shining friend struggled hard, gave his best, The conflict was bitter, the struggle hard pressed. His vigilance waned as he closed his great eye, Then darkness crept close, stole his light from the sky. Her pale friend was tiring. His light was expiring. When darkness was total, She woke with a cry. The tenebrious void hid the light from the sky. She joined in the conflict, was quick to defend, And drove the dark shadow away from Her friend. But the pale face of night. Let Her son out of sight. Trapped by the whirlwind, Her bright fiery son, Gave no warmth to the Earth, cold chaos had won. the fertile green life was now ice and snow, And a sharp piercing wind continued to blow. The Earth was bereft. No green plants were left. The Mother was weary, grieving and worn, But She reached out again for the life She had borne. She couldn't give up, She needed to strive, For the glorious light of Her son to survive. She continued the fight. To bring back the light. And Her luminous friend was prepared to contest, the thief who held captive the child of Her breast. Together they fought for the son She adored. their efforts succeeded, his light was restored. His energy burned. His brilliance returned.

Open Ways But the bleak frigid dark craved his bright glowing heat. The Mother defended and would not retreat. The whirlwind pulled hard, She refused to let go, She fought to a draw with Her dark swirling for. She held darkness at bay. But Her son was away. When She fought the whirlwind and made chaos flee, the light from Her son flowed with vitality. When the Mother grew tired, the bleak void held sway, And darkness returned at the end of the day. She felt warmth from Her son. But neither had won. The Great Mother lived with the pain in Her heart, That She and Her son were forever apart. She ached for the child that had been denied, So She quickened once more from the life-force inside. She was not reconciled. To the loss of Her child. When She was ready, Her waters of birth, Brought back the green life to the cold barren Earth. And the tears of Her loss, abundantly spilled, Made dew drops that sparkled and rainbows that thrilled. Birth waters brought green. But Her tears could be seen. With a thunderous roar Her stones split asunder, And from the great cave that opened deep under, She birthed once again from Her cavernous room, and brought forth the Children of Earth from Her womb. From the Mother forlorn, more children were born. Each child was different, some were large and some small, Some could walk and some fly, some could swim and some crawl. But each form was perfect, each spirit complete, Each one was a model whose shape could repeat.
10
Spring Equinox 2012
Open Ways The Mother was willing. The green earth was filling. All the birds and the fish and the animals born, Would not leave the Mother, this time, to mourn. Each kind would live near the place of its birth, And share the expanse of the Great Mother Earth. Close to Her they would stay. They would not go away. They were all Her children, they filled Her with pride, But they used up the life-force She carried inside. She had enough left for a last innovation, A child who'd remember Who made the creation. A child who'd respect. And learn to protect. First Woman was born full-grown and alive, And given the Gifts she would need to survive. Life was the First Gift, and like Mother Earth, She woke to herself knowing life had great worth. First Woman defined. The first of her kind. Next was the Gift of Perception, of learning, The desire to know, the Gift of Discerning, First Woman was given the knowledge within, That would help her to live, and pass on to her kin. First Woman would know. How to learn, how to grow. Her life-force near gone, The Mother was spent, To pass on Life's Spirit had been Her intent. She caused all of Her children to create life anew, And Woman was blessed to bring forth life too. But Woman was lonely. She was the only. The Mother remembered Her own loneliness, The love of Her fiend and his hovering caress. Wit the last spark remaining, Her labor began, To share life with Woman She created First Man.
Spring Equinox 2012
11
Open Ways Again She was giving. One more was living. To Woman and Man the Mother gave birth, And then for their home, She gave them the Earth, The water, the land, and all Her creation. To use them with care was their obligation. It was their home to use. But not to abuse. For the Children of Earth the Mother provided. The Gifts to survive, and then She decided, To give them the Gift of Pleasure and sharing, That honors the Mother with the joy of their pairing. The Gifts were well-earned. When honor's returned. The Mother was pleased with the pair She created, She taught them to love and to care when they mated. She made them desire to join with each other, The Gift of their Pleasures came from the Mother. Before She was through. Her children loved too. Earth's Children were blessed. The Mother could rest.

Ostara March 21
Ostara (pronounced “Oh-star-ah) Spring or The Vernal Equinox also known as Lady Day or Alban Eiler (Druidic). As Spring reaches its midpoint, night and day stand in perfect balance, with light on the increase. The young Sun God now celebrates a sacred marriage with the young Maiden Goddess, who conceives. In nine months, she will again become the Great Mother. It is a time of great fertility, new growth, and newborn animals. The next full moon (a time of increased births) is called Ostara and is sacred to Eostre the Saxon Lunar Goddess of fertility (from whence we get the word estrogen, whose two symbols were the egg and the rabbit). Offerings of colored eggs to her were placed at graves especially, probably as a charm of rebirth. (Egyptians and Greeks were also known to place eggs at gravesites). The Goddess of Fertility was also the Goddess of Grain, so offerings of bread and cakes were also made to her. Rabbits are sacred to Eostre, especially white rabbits, and she was said to be able to take the form of a rabbit. One myth says Eostre found a bird dying from the cold. She changed it to a rabbit so it could keep warm. Symbolism of Ostara: Renewal, New beginnings and Rebirth. Herbs and Flowers of Ostara: Lily of the valley, Tansy, Lavender, Marjoram, Thyme, Tarragon, Lovage, Lilac, Violets, Lemon balm, Dogwood, Honeysuckle, Oak moss, Orrisroot, Sunflower seeds, Rose hips, Oak, Elder, Willow, Crocus, Daffodil, Jonquil, Tulip, Broom (Scotch or Iris), Meadowsweet, Acorn, Trefoil (purple clover), Vervain, Woodruff, Violet, Gorse, Olive, Peony, Iris, Narcissus Colors of Ostara: All pastel shades, Gold, Green, Indigo, Pink, Red, Yellow Incense of Ostara: Jasmine, Rose, Strawberry, Floral of any type. Stones of Ostara: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Bloodstone, Red jasper, Rose quartz, Moonstone Special Activities: Planting seeds or starting a Magickal Herb Garden. Painting and decorating hard-boiled eggs with magickal symbols

Open Ways Things I Didn’t Know I Loved By Spyder (in the style of a poem by the same name by Nazim Hikmet) Here I sit contemplating With the hour growing late Gazing at the night sky bathed in moonlight and twinkling with stars I didn’t know I loved the night sky until it shrugged off its cloudy blanket To remind me once again of its brilliance As it oversees me wherever I am I didn’t know I loved the ocean Until I stood on the sandy beach Tasted the salty air as it brushed against my cheek And felt the powerful waves crash upon the shore I walked in solitude Amidst trees so tall and straight and proud They made me feel so small The smell of woody earthy goodness lilted to my nostrils And the distant sound of a trickling creek was a pleasure to my ears I didn’t know I loved The woods until I walked amongst the trees and Felt them talk I have driven in this city amongst lights and sounds and sights Always something to do or see And most times quite a selection from which to choose Here boredom is a choice and not a curse I didn’t know I loved the busy-ness of this city until I stayed home Because I wanted to I remember being quite small Taking for granted the castles and the windmills And fields of tulips as far as the eye can see Not understanding who Anne Frank was and why it was So important to visit her house I was a child who put out her wooden shoes in hopes of finding toys and Speculaas cookies Tucked into them After a visit from Sinterklaas My palate still remembers pannekoeken, poffertjes, and frite sauce But I didn’t know I loved Holland until I was finally old enough to appreciate it

Open Ways A Prayer for the Dying By Patti Wigington, About.com Guide
Many mainstream religions have a Last Rite, or something close to it. In the moments before dying, a priest or pastor is called to the individual's side, and offers the blessings and prayers of that particular faith. Pagans and Wiccans often don't have such an option, for several reasons. First, we don't have a Big Book of Prayer that we all follow. Secondly, in many paths of Wicca, each person is their own High Priest or High Priestess, because we are all in touch with the divine. Finally, let's just face it -- there aren't a lot of books out there about what to do when a Pagan or Wiccan is dying.
The following prayer is written as one which may be said by the dying person, but realistically, it may be better if someone says it for them -physically, a dying person may not be capable of speaking a prayer at all. Make sure, if you find yourself facing such a situation, that you have permission to speak to the gods on behalf of the dying individual. Permission may be granted by the person themself or by a family member.
Feel free to substitute the names of your tradition's deities if you prefer. You may speak this prayer, or sing it -- the choice is yours.
A Prayer for the Dying Time has passed, the Wheel has turned. It is time for me to move on. I will walk hand in hand with the Ancient Ones, and with my ancestors who came before me.
Great Mother, welcome me back into your womb, I come to you and know I am blessed, for my life has been one I am proud of. As I enter your world, wrap me in your loving arms, and welcome me.
Lord of Death, I wait for you to take me, I come to you willingly, with eyes wide open, as my last moment approaches on the horizon. May I look upon you without fear, without pain, and knowing that those who walked before me, await me on the other side.
O Ancient Ones, give me strength to take these final steps, and allow me to do so with peace and dignity. Let my family mourn my passing but not my loss, and let them heal knowing I will see them again. Time has passed and the Wheel has turned. It is time for me to move on.

Family Corner How To Celebrate Ostara with the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Chocolate Rabbit By Patti Wigington, About.com Guide http://paganwiccan.about.com/od/ostarathespringequinox/ht/ LBRChocoRabbit.htm
Image Š Martin Poole/Getty Images Sure, Ostara is a time to celebrate spirituality and the turning of the earth, but there's no reason we can't have a good time with it as well. If you've got kids -- or even if you don't -- this simple rite is a great way to welcome the season using some things that are readily available in the discount stores at this time of year! Bear in mind, this is meant to be fun and a little bit silly. If you think the Universe has no sense of humor, proceed to the page after next! Difficulty: Average Time Required: 20 minutes For this ritual, you'll need the following: A bag of jellybeans Marshmallow Peeps -- chicks, bunnies, etc. A chocolate rabbit for each particpant A glass of milk for each participant Arrange your ritual supplies on your altar so they look pretty. Kids can do this -- typically the chocolate rabbits end up in the center, surrounded by an army of Peeps and several rings of jellybeans. A quick note -- you might want to perform this ritual well in advance of mealtime, or all the kids will be too full of candy to eat a real dinner. First, give everyone present a handful of jellybeans. Point out the different colors in the jellybeans, and what they can represent. As you call out each one, eat the jellybeans in that color. Feel free to be a bit goofy. Say something like: Behold, little jelly eggs, small symbols of the season, How we adore you! Green is for the grass that springs from the land! (eat all the green jellybeans) Yellow is for the sun shining above our heads! (eat all your yellow jellybeans) Red is for the tulips that grow in our garden! (eat your red jellybeans) Pink is for Aunt Martha's new Easter hat! (eat your pink jellybeans) Purple is for the crocuses that sprout along our driveway! (eat the purple ones) Continue this until all the colors are gone -- if you really want to have some fun, make the kids take turns naming off the colors and what they mean to them. When they're all gone, call out: Hail! Hail! to the mighty jelly bean of Spring!
20
Spring Equinox 2012
Open Ways Next, hand out the marshmallow Peeps. As you do, say: Behold the Peep! The Peep is life, brought back in the spring! Little Peep chickens, we honor you! (bite the Peep chicks) Little Peep bunnies, we honor you! (bite the Peep bunnies)‌ Continue this until the Peeps are all gone -- it's probably a good idea to limit each kid to just two or three Peeps at the most. When the Peeps have all vanished, call out: Hail! Hail! to the mighty Peeps of Spring! Finally, distribute the chocolate rabbits. Say: Behold the great chocolate rabbit! As he hops through the land, he spreads joy and happiness! O, how we adore the chocolate rabbit and his great big chocolate ears! (eat the rabbit's ears) Praise the chocolate rabbit, and his delicious chocolate tail! (eat the rabbit's tail) Honor this chocolate rabbit, and his chocolate hoppity legs! (eat the rabbit's legs) He is a wonderful rabbit, and he is special indeed! (eat the rest of the rabbit) When the rabbits are all gone, say: Hail! Hail! to the mighty chocolate rabbit of Spring! Give everyone a glass of milk, and raise your drinks in a toast to these three symbols of the season. To the jelly beans! To the Peeps! To the chocolate rabbit! We drink in your honor! Drink your milk, and sit back to enjoy the sensation of being stuffed with ritual candy.
