Monthly sessions provide young people with the chance to explore various artistic disciplines and related careers, as well as developing skills that will build confidence and improve employability. During term 1, young people will work with a team of professional artists to explore opera and the many art forms it includes, such as singing, acting, design, creative writing and performance. Young people will write, stage and perform their own songs and also have the chance to showcase their other creative talents. During term 2, young people will work with an experienced Vocal Leader and Director to really hone their performance skills, with the chance to perform their very own concert at the end of the term. This is the ideal training ground for any young people wishing to audition for the Opera North Children’s Chorus. Young people are welcome to take part in term 1, 2 or the whole project. This project is open to all young people regardless of background, ability or experience. Membership fees apply but we are able to offer financial assistance to ensure that costs do not create a barrier to taking part.
