the BARBER OF SEVILLE BY GIOACHINO ROSSINI
Figaro, Figaro, Fiiiiiigaro!! Our most popular touring production is back! Barber by day, matchmaker by night, Figaro puts his charm to work as he helps Count Almaviva woo the beautiful Rosina. She’s such a catch that her guardian, Dr. Bartolo, keeps her under lock and key with the intent of marrying her himself. But no challenge is too great for Figaro’s madcap schemes! Filled with some of opera’s most famous tunes, this is a comedy not to miss! GRADE LEVEL: ALL AGES | OFFERED: OCTOBER-MAY
the ELIXIR OF LOVE BY GAETANO DONIZETTI NEW OPERA COLORADO PRODUCTION
Nemorino loves the town’s brainy beauty, Adina. But the dashing sergeant Belcore arrives and sets his sights upon Adina too. Desperate, Nemorino asks a traveling salesman Dr. Dulcamara to sell him a powerful elixir of love that will convince Adina that he is the one. Romance and comedy ensue as the character’s plans spin wildly out of control. Set in old-west Colorado, this is a perfect way to incorporate local history into your curriculum! GRADE LEVEL: ALL AGES | OFFERED: JANUARY-MAY
the SCARLET LETTER BY LORI LAITMAN (SEMI-STAGED PRODUCTION)
Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter is America’s first great tragic novel. Published in 1850, the work immediately caught the country’s attention and has never lost its grip. The story could easily be played out today: how individuals react to and survive judgment and oppression. The Scarlet Letter looks at individuals who hold fast to their personal beliefs and secrets, to protect themselves and others; and how people either make peace with their decisions, or live out lives of tortured conflict because of them. For one year only, we present this new American opera in a semistaged production. GRADE LEVEL: 6TH GRADE AND UP | OFFERED: OCTOBER-MAY 3
