OI China PRAYER LETTER April 2010 “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” ~ 2 Corinthians 8:9 (NIV)

Over the course of 5 days in March, OI China welcomed Mr. Mike Dyer from the OI Network, and Mr. Robert Dunn from OI Australia, to conduct a formal Business Risk Review. After a thorough examination, it was concluded that OI China’s operations and policies are in excellent order and that the OIN looks forward to partnering more closely with OI China in the future. Thank God for how He brings together His children from around the globe to serve the poor!

OI Suyu’s 1-Year Anniversary was a multi-day celebration! Over the weekend, OISY held their first annual Anniversary Cup Sports Championship where employees enjoyed fun-filled badminton and ping pong competitions. Then during the week, everyone gathered together in their favorite traditional Chinese attire for dinner, thanksgiving, and an employee talent show. Through song, dance, instrument playing, and acting OISY rejoiced for all He has done in Suyu!

Praises & Thanksgivings: •

Praise His Name for all the ways He has blessed OI China (Suyu) Micro Credit Company during their first year of operations! On March 23, OI China along with its many supporting partners from around the world, rejoiced together at how He has blessed over 300 pig farmers, chicken farmers, small manufacturers, plastic recyclers, shopkeepers, restaurant owners, and other small entrepreneurs with micro-loans and how He has impacted over 11,987 jobs through Suyu’s operations!

Thank God that OI China’s application for membership in the Friends of Hong Kong charities has been approved. This membership means that U.S.-based sponsors and supporters can now enjoy simplified procedures and receive tax exemption when donating and supporting OI China.

Prayer Requests: •

Ask God to alleviate the drought in southwest China and particularly in Guizhou province. Since June 2009, the drought has affected 61 million people and left 12 million acres of land barren in Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, Chongqing, and Guangxi. Schools have been closing, emergency wells are being dug, and many people are forced to walk over 5 kilometers to find water. Economic losses for the entire area are substantial. Pray for God to send rain to relieve this hardship and pray also for wisdom for the Chinese government as they seek ways to bring immediate relief to the local people.

Pray for the continued development of OIC funders and partners from Asia and around the world. OIC is looking for funders who share our vision of alleviating poverty and partners who can lend their expertise to OIC’s clients, in short-term and medium-term stints.
