OI China PRAYER LETTER August 2011
"For you have been a strong place for the poor and the crushed in their trouble, a safe place from the storm, a shade from the heat, when the wrath of the cruel ones is like a winter storm." ~ Isaiah 25: 4 (BBE)
OI China’s 2011 Summer English Camp opened in July for all children of our clients free of charge. Thanks to the 7 interns from the US, conducting the teaching. The rural students and their parents are very grateful of this wonderful opportunity for them to be able to learn English language and western culture. The program is a demonstration of OIC’s holistic approach of sharing love and care of Jesus to the rural community.

Mr Geoff Kells AM, Chairman of OI China (3 from left) visited clients in Shuyang in July. Client Mr Zhong (1st left) and his wife borrowed 15,000 Yuan (USD 2,000) to buy the goslings and geese-feed. They operate a small geese farm on the bank of a local river in the past 5 years. They live in the shed in the picture, by the river. The loan helped Zhong to expand his operation of 2,000 to a 5,000-geese farm.
Praises & Thanksgivings: •
Praise the Lord that the 2011 OIC Summer English Camp commenced in the first week of July, as planned. This year, there are three locations holding the camp, namely, Hefei, Suyu and Shuyang. There are a total of 160 students registered for the program. OIC is very grateful of the contribution of our interns to take up this responsibility to teach English in the midst of their OIC Microfinance Internship Program. We expect this teaching experience also enriches cultural interface and leadership skills of the interns.

Thank God for the occasion, there were nearly 30 young professionals of the Young Ambassador Opportunity (YAO) Program of OIHK attended a presentation of OIC in the evening of Thursday, 28 July. YAO members have been very active in promoting OI China program and raising community awareness as well as support to the mission of Opportunity International in HK. Leaders of the group are already planning for an Insight Trip to China in order to build hands-on experience and form a stronger bond with OIC.

We are grateful of the arrangement of the Morgan Stanley for the microfinance interest group gathering on “Raising Up in the Divine State -- OI China” in Hong Kong during the month. Attendees shared the passion of poverty alleviation through microfinance. Please thank God for this opportunity that allowed us to share our mission and His blessings to the professional bankers and raised their interest to support the poor.
Prayer Requests: •
Please pray for funding support as OI China is running out of funds to lend to our clients.
