OI China PRAYER LETTER August 2013
“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord. Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.” ~ Psalm 113:1 - 3 (NIV)
The OI China 2013 Summer English Camp started in the first week of July, with 46 students. The theme of English Camp this year is music. Children will not only learn the English expression and conversation of music, they will also have the opportunity to learn to appreciate different types of music of different countries and even have the chance to learn to sing songs in foreign languages and play flute and guitars. This year we also added a class for music instrument for guitar and recorder.
Client Mr Tong Guangping started his clothing workshop when he and his wife returned from Jordan as export labourer. With 4 sewing machines and 5 workers the factory was just barely surviving. After learning trades skills from the newly opened Huai’an branch of OI China in early 2012, he now employs 22 women in factory and contracts another 50 trained ladies to work from their homes.
Praises & Thanksgivings: Praise the Lord that the OI China 2013 English Camp started in July and caters for the children of our clients in all five branches of our operation. We also thank Pastor Lai and his daughter, Dorcas, travelled all the way across the Strait to teach guitar and recorder to the staff and students of English Camp. There will be a concert held after the students can master their musical instruments. Praise God for prayers answered. We recently received more interests of Christian professionals to join OI China to serve the poor, especially people from USA. As OI China expands we need more coworkers to share the load.
Prayer Requests: Please pray for the victims and their families in China suffering from the flood. At least 10,000 people in a forest region in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have been affected by rain-triggered floods in late July. In the worst-hit Tulihe Township of Yakeshi City, mountain torrents swept the township. Please also pray for the authorities and rescue teams who are battling against the natural disaster. Please pray for more co-workers to join our work as OI China continues to grow and expand our services in China.
