OI China PRAYER LETTER November 2009
“All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.” ~ Galatians 2:10 (NIV)
After being injured at his previous job, Zhang Qing Ling became unemployed. Having a family to support but no job prospects, the future looked grim until his neighbour, Mr. Wang, told him about OI China’s Suyu Group Lending Program. With a modest loan of 715 USD, Mr. Zhang began a small chicken farm. Today he is in the process of completing his second loan with OI China and is continuing to learn about the best way to raise chickens through his small group. Through partnership with OI China, his future now looks bright.
OI China was pleased to host Mr. and Mrs. Terry Winters, Chairman of Opportunity International Network. During their time in China, Terry and Merylyn were able to visit OI China’s offices in Hefei and Suyu as well as to visit OI China’s partners in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) in Beijing. They enjoyed learning more about the opportunities and challenges of doing microfinance in China and also enjoyed seeing first-hand how OI China is transforming lives. We thank them for their visit and look forward to more visits in the future.
Praises & Thanksgivings: •
Praise the Lord for the fruitful and successful visit of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Winters, Chairman of the Opportunity International Network. As a result of their visit, OI China is preparing to become a full member of the OI Network, a step that will help OI China meet new partners and receive more resources and support in the future.
•
Thank God for providing Peter Chen, a new risk management manager, to the Suyu Office. After weeks of searching, Peter comes to OI China with several years of relevant experience and a heart to see lives transformed in China. We feel grateful to have him join the OI China family.
Prayer Requests: •
Pray that a sense of community and vision would be built among the staff in OI Suyu and that new managers Josh and Beth Ruyle would quickly form good relationships with their co-workers, local government officials, and other local partners.
•
Pray for vision and guidance as OI China plans its 2010 budget.
•
Pray for the development of OI China’s Client Training Program. Across the 3 branches the education level and expertise of clients varies greatly creating a need for both basic and more advanced training materials. Ask God to raise up experts who are willing to give their time and expertise to help transform peoples’ lives.
