SUNGLASS FEATURES BASE CURVE: Measure of the general shape of a lens – the curvature of the front surface. The higher the base curve, the more wrap in the lens and in turn, the frame. TORIC LENSES: Toric lens shapes display a flatter curvature vertically as compared to horizontally. Any lens that has a different horizontal and vertical curvature can be considered “toric”.

Polycarbonate Made of the toughest, most shatter resistant material. Light, comfortable, and much more impact resistant than glass lenses. EX: Fame

8 base Curved look to lenses, more wrapped effect. Lens has constant curvature of 8. Ex: Vantage, Cinch

Multi - Base Shield Lens Lens with a constant vertical curvature of 6 and horizontal curvature that can go from 3.5 to 24. High wrap frame with flatter horizontal shape in front. EX: Domo, Orbit

CR-39 Lightweight and scratch resistant. Vast array of coatings and tints available. Used widely with acetate frames. EX: Viceroy, Regal

SPHERICAL LENSES: Constructed from sections cut from a spherical surface. Spherical lenses have a constant curvature across all sections of the lens.
