In Chinese, Tea (茶-cha) and wealth (財-cai) are having almost the identical pronunciation. With Or Tea?, we play on the tongue in cheek by twisting the most commonly used Lunar New Year greeting Gong Xi Fa Cai 恭喜發”財” to Gong Xi Fa Cha 恭喜發”茶”, wishing everyone prosperity through our auspicious cups of specialty tea.
茶到 = 財到
There is also a lunar new year tradition to turn the lucky character (福-fook) upside down to convey a symbolic meaning of “arrival of luck”. Here we play on another twist by replacing “福”(fortune) with ”茶”(=tea=wealth), implying the imminent arrival of wealth is just around the corner.
