Its people live in fear because of the violence that is so common there. Pastor Fredy’s church used to be a bar. He once sat on its steps reading his Bible and praying, “How can I help change things in my city?” As he sat there reading, an elderly woman asked him if he would teach her the Bible… and she became the first member of his church. Because Pastor Fredy knows what it is like to live without God, he has a heart to reach young men in the same situation. Many former gang members in Verbena are now serving the Lord in Pastor Fredy’s church, and they helped with the medical clinics. “We’re here to work with Richard Roberts because we want to see change,” Pastor Fredy said.

CRUSADE NIGHTS—MIRACLES OF SALVATION AND HEALING!

In Guatemala City’s soccer stadium, Richard conducted evangelistic meetings to share the Good News that Jesus saves, heals, and delivers those who come to Him in faith. First, award-winning Christian recording artist Ingrid Rosario led the crowd in worship, followed by Jordan Roberts and the ORM Singers. Then Richard preached God’s Word. “God has put His love for Guatemala in me,” he said. “And I believe He will show you His love tonight in a mighty way!” Richard reminded everyone of John 3:16, which says, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “God doesn’t pass people up,” he encouraged the Guatemalan people. “He cares about you. I believe He sees your needs, and He has answers for you and wants you well in every area of your life!”

constant pain. But when Richard prayed, Menor said, “I felt fire in my back.” He demonstrated his healing by bending over and twisting easily, with no pain. As a result of his miraculous healing, Menor gave his heart to the Lord. Many other people received healing and salvation during the crusade meetings and in the medical clinics!

As Richard prayed, God moved and amazing miracles took place. The first person to give his testimony was Tony. Someone had shot a gun close to his ear when he was a child. He hadn’t been able to hear out of it for 50 years. Tony drove for six hours to get to the crusade grounds. When Richard gave the word, Tony realized he could hear again! Nine-year-old Paola was born with a problem in her feet. At the crusade, she was able to walk unassisted! Martha had an accident that left her leg deformed and facing in the wrong direction. She told Richard, “As you prayed for crooked bones to be healed, I felt fire in my leg!” Menor was attacked by gang members and beaten on his back with pipes. As a result, he was in 8

Jenifer is a 29-year-old dentist who helped at the ORM medical clinics and crusades. As it turns out, she has her own testimony of healing through Richard Roberts’ ministry when he came to Guatemala City in 1991, which she shares below. Twenty years ago, Richard Roberts came to Guatemala in a crusade for miracles. At the time, I was in the hospital with leukemia. I was not expected to survive. My grandmother heard that Richard was coming to Guatemala City, so she took me out of the hospital, believing I was going to be healed that night. The doctor told her, “If you take your granddaughter out of the hospital, she may die.” But my grandmother believed in Jesus, who had power in his earthly ministry and who still has power today!

At the crusade, Richard prayed for me. I had a vision and saw a bright light. Then the light changed into the figure of a man. He wore a mantle, which was bright like the light I had seen. I didn’t know how Jesus healed in the Bible, but my spirit told me that I only had to touch Him, and I was going to be healed. The man in my vision laid His hand on my head and said, “Don’t be afraid. You are healed.” That was the most incredible moment in my life! Jesus was healing me. I soon stood up and said, “I am healed.” The next day, I had an exam with my doctor. He looked at the test results and said, “I don’t know what happened, but everything is well.” My healing was confirmed!

clinic. Her husband died recently in an accident, and she now cares for her children alone. She washes clothes for a living, but she barely gets by and can’t afford regular medical care. Gerson and Andrea had lung infections that the ORM team’s doctors were able to treat with medicine. Eight-year-old Ana Rebeca came with her mother Luz. Ana’s father is a mechanic, and she has two siblings. The family has a hard time traveling to their local medical clinic and even to the market for food, because the violence in their neighborhood makes travel unsafe. Guatemala is special to the heart of God…and so are its children! The young people of Guatemala City are at great risk due to gang wars and violence. They are at risk of being killed…or being recruited to the gangs who do the killing. Rising Above My Past My Personal Story of Overcoming Through God’s Grace B

All of us have a story, and Terri Savelle Foy is no exception. The daughter of wellknown ministers Jerry and Carolyn Savelle, Terri appeared to have a perfect life. But over the years, she has faced personal challenges that she had to overcome through God’s grace. Here, she shares her testimony of how God helped her rise above her past and freed her to pursue His calling on her life. I was born again at a young age and was blessed to grow up in an amazing home, with parents who believed God’s Word. I was an overachiever who always wanted to make mom and dad proud. I was a cheerleader and the homecoming queen; I even dated the quarterback. My life looked perfect. But at the age of fourteen, I was violated. I hid it and never told anybody. But what happened to me dramatically affected my self-image. The Bible says, “As a man thinketh in his own heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). And I felt ugly and insecure. Even when I became homecoming queen, I thought I was ugly. I thought to myself, “I won because I’m nice.” I had all this pain inside, but I wasn’t dealing with it. Instead, I tried to make things look right on the outside. 12

My insecurities and pain led me into some decisions that weren’t good or godly. Right before I graduated from college, my life fell apart. I found out that I was pregnant—and I wasn’t married. Everything I worked to keep hidden came to light. All I could think of was running away. In my mind, Satan was magnifying how bad it would be to tell my mom and dad and how they would be ashamed of me. More than anything, I didn’t want to humiliate them. But I knew I had to deal with it. And I’m so glad I did, because the way my parents responded was exactly the way our heavenly Father responds. He’s not going down a list to see if you’ve performed perfectly to determine whether or not He loves you. He loves you regardless. I decided to write my mother a letter, confessing everything. I wrote, “I’m a disgrace to the Savelle family. I understand if you want to disown me. I’ve broken your heart. I’m not the angel you thought I was.” When my mother received my letter, she called me. I picked up the phone, heard her voice, and started sobbing. But she said to me, “Do you know what I did when I got your letter? I

I was probably seventy-five to a hundred feet off the ground when I heard a loud snap. “I didn’t know if I’d been shot or what happened. But after I heard that loud snap, I felt the helicopter start spinning. I tried to find a place where if I had to crash, I would stay away from the guys on the ground who were loading the other helicopter. I threw my pitch all the way forward and went into some trees. When I hit the tops of the trees, it turned my helicopter sideways and dumped all eight of my passengers out, killing my staff sergeant on board.” “I crawled out of my helicopter, sat on the side of the shore, and just stuck my head between my legs because I didn’t want to look at all those guys who were depending on me to save their lives. I’ll never forget seeing all those guys lying all over the ground.” The military did a crash inquiry and determined that the tail rotor bearing had failed, and that there was nothing Jim could have done. After his Vietnam tour was over, Jim was sent back to the United States and became a presidential helicopter pilot, flying Presidents Nixon and Ford. When his stint in the Marine Corps ended, he returned to Tulsa to become a police officer. Eventually he moved into an unexpected career path…he became a professional wrestler. Jim became part of a U.S. tag team that won titles and championship

belts. It was a great time for him, but after a while, Jim’s body began to break down. Constant wrestling and performing took its toll. Doctor’s visits and prescriptions became the norm. Jim was left with no other choice t h a n to wa l k away from his career. Jim explains, “Wrestling was probably one of the hardest things to quit. I was fresh out of the Marine Corps, and I was on top of the game. I have six of those gold belts. I was good at it. Then my doctor just sort of pulled the rug out from under my feet. I had to quit, and my life went on a downward spiral. I started drinking, and I don’t mind telling you I was

But God says He can give you favor. And if you have the favor of God, He can give you the favor of many people. There can be opportunities presented to you.

“ I will rebuke the devourer for your sake. I will protect your assets.” The devourer is the enemy. That’s the devil, who wants to steal your money. He wants to take it out of your hands and out of God’s control, because if he takes it out of your hands, then you become part of the world system. You become a part of a system that’s plunging hundreds of millions of people into debt. Let me tell you, this is a serious thing. Don’t depend on the world’s system. Ask for God to show you ideas, concepts, and insights that will give you a f inancial freedom instead of debt.

This is why you give of your tithes and offerings to the Lord’s work. And the Bible states what possibilities can begin. God can: • Open the windows of heaven and pour into you ideas, concepts, and insights; • Protect your assets; and • Give you favor. When we have God’s favor, when we’re receiving His protections for our assets and having ideas and concepts and insights coming constantly into our minds, then we can support ourselves and have money to sustain the work of God. We can have money so that Matthew 24:14 can be fulfilled:

“I will give you favor.” One of the most miserable experiences I ever had in my life was when I felt like I didn’t have favor…that I didn’t have God’s favor and I didn’t have the favor of people. And there are millions who really don’t seem to have favor. But God says He can give you favor. And if you have the favor of God, He can give you the favor of many people. There can be opportunities presented to you.
