MISSION: Goodwill of Orange County is in the business of helping people who are facing barriers to get and keep jobs, which provides purpose, pride and dignity. We believe the power of work changes lives.
WELCOMING A NEW CEO Nicole Suydam, who served nearly a decade as Goodwill of OC’s Vice President of Development, has returned to Goodwill of Orange County to serve as our new President and CEO. She has more than 20 years of management and leadership experience working with local and national nonprofits dedicated to meeting human service needs. Prior to returning to Goodwill, Suydam served as CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County where she oversaw the distribution of more than 25 million meals to Orange County families and guided a vast network of more than 200 community partners. We are thrilled to welcome her back to the Goodwill family!
OUR STORY. Goodwill of Orange County is much more than a store. Goodwill is a source of pride, a pathway to independence and a paycheck for individuals who face barriers to employment.
in our community. Nearly $40,256,000 was earned by individuals employed with Goodwill’s help.
Through our retail stores, our e-commerce platform, shopgoodwill.com, and our business services, we create jobs and provide job training and education, helping people and our local community thrive.
Get in on the Good: It’s people like you who drive Goodwill’s economic engine and allow the organization to expand its programs and serve more people each year. Through the sale of donated items across Goodwill’s 24 local retail stores, 92 cents of every dollar spent goes directly back into Goodwill’s life-changing programs.
We served a recordbreaking 27,428 people last year and found employment for nearly 1,500 people right here
By shopping at Goodwill stores, donating gently-used items, or making a monthly or annual financial contribution, you help positively change lives.

MISSION: Doing More™ for Orange County
We fight for the Education, Health, Housing and Financial Stability of every person in Orange County.
OUR STORY. If your concern for the escalating, interconnected challenges we face in our community is growing, you’re not alone. In Orange County today families lack adequate income for housing. Without stable homes, children struggle in school or drop out. People are hungry and need help to live healthier lives. Orange County United Way is a non-profit dedicated to providing local responses to the most pressing, interconnected challenges we face. Education alone is not a solution if a student doesn’t have a stable home
and nutritious food. And in this economy, just because a parent finds a job, it may not be enough to support their family. We believe an integrated approach is essential for sustainable change. We are doing more than raising funds, we transform our community. Our efforts are invested entirely in our own community. We help struggling students graduate and prepare for career success. We provide access to healthy food and healthcare. We work to close the poverty gap. We provide access to stable housing to prevent future homelessness. Join us.
DOING MORE IS ONLY POSSIBLE WITH YOUR HELP. When you contribute to United Way, your gift stays here, to make a difference here. When you volunteer, your involvement has the power to transform local lives. Join us. -------------------------EVENT -------------------------Women’s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast Thursday, May 16, 2019 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. – Hotel Irvine

MISSION:
At Orangewood Foundation, our mission is to prepare foster and community youth to reach their greatest potential. We believe all young people should have the opportunity to succeed, and we are dedicated to providing the support, guidance and resources that they need to create a path to a stable, successful future.
OUR STORY. Since 1981, Orangewood Foundation has given foster youth the support they need to reach their greatest potential. Our philosophy is guided by the “Orangewood Way.” Dedicated staff members use a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach when working with current and former foster youth and their caregivers. We acknowledge that youth from foster care possess behaviors, attitudes, and emotions that are adaptive responses to their traumatic childhood pasts. At the same time, they have the ability to be resourceful and
resilient in the face of adversity. Their potential is there, waiting to be discovered. Orangewood focuses on four critical support areas: Health & Wellness, Housing, Life Skills & Employment, and Education. In the last year, your donations have helped us: Provide assistance in our resource center to 478 youth in 3,902 visits Provide transitional housing or housing assistance to 78 youth Help 77 youth find jobs or develop job-readiness skills Award $604,699 in college or grad school scholarships to 247 students

MISSION: Parentis Foundation seeks to address a major contributor to poverty – the inability of children to read proficiently by the end of third grade. Through an intergenerational approach, we provide both older adult volunteer tutor/mentors and children with opportunities to enrich their lives and build self-confidence through literacy. OUR STORY. By pairing k- 3rd grade struggling readers with highly trained volunteer tutors, we improve the literacy skills of children at risk of not reading fluently by fourth grade, while providing meaningful opportunities for older adults who serve as literacy tutor/mentors in Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Orange County. Last year our tutors provided more than 3,500 tutoring sessions to 115 at risk youth.
The demand for literacy intervention is great. We have a waiting list of Boys & Girls Clubs wanting our services, older-adults wishing to make a difference and children desperately needing our help!
