WE ARE
Remarkable When Henry Hudson sailed his ship “Half Moon” up the Hudson River and into Cornwall Bay in 1609, he was the first in a long list of remarkable travelers to Orange County. These influential women and men determined the early history and culture of America. Travel back through time to the 1700s. It’s the end of the Revolutionary War and George Washington establishes his headquarters at a stone fortress in Newburgh, high above the majestic Hudson. Explore a place so rich in history, it’s America’s first Registered National Historic Landmark. Witness firsthand our battle reenactments, fabulous faires and one-of-a-kind festivals.

DO YOU
BELIEVE? Strange lights, glowing objects, UFO sightings! There have been so many reports of these unusual phenomena in Pine Bush, a hamlet in the Orange County Town of Crawford, that it’s come to be known as the “UFO Capital of the East Coast.” Sightings peaked during the 1980s, but continue to this day.
UFO Fair, Pine Bush
Some speculate that mineral deposits in the Shawangunk Mountains attract the aliens; others attribute the strange lights to airplanes flying in formation above local airports. New York Stewart International Airport, formerly a West Point cadet aviation training airfield and a U.S. Air Force Base, is just a few miles away. True believers have been flocking to this little village since the early 1960’s. Serious visitors need only ask the locals for the latest sightings and where to see them year round. One thing’s for sure, everyone will enjoy a day of family-friendly festivities at the annual Pine Bush UFO Fair. It’s been ranked one of the Best UFO Festivals in the world! Serious enthusiasts should plan to visit the Speakers Tent to hear some of the most notable speakers in the UFO world as they discuss Pine Bush, its UFO history and beyond. This out-of-this-world event is usually held on the third Saturday of May.
