INTERNALIZE THE GOSPEL MESSAGE OF SALVATION IN CHRIST JESUS.
NOTE
For over 50 years, Orange Lutheran High School has provided outstanding academic programs combined with rich co-curricular programs to help students and families know the Gospel message found only in Jesus Christ. It is our mission and guides our vision of the future, and we hope that you’ll join us on that journey.
Our understanding, belief, experience, and commitment to Biblical truth forms the foundation for the people you will develop relationships with while you are engaged at OLu. It is the premise from which our vision statement is crafted. In short, our vision is to be Christ-centered, providing multiple opportunities for transformation to serve the people of the world. Servant leadership is a concept that is more than 2000 years old, and it is the guiding principle we bring to our various campuses — the Main Campus, North Campus, Lancer Ice Academy, and Thrift Shop — both today and in the future.
Do we have interesting classes and labs, quality teachers, great sports programs, and talented artists?
Yes, we do! Will you get to study abroad, take mission trips, and participate in musicals? Yes, for sure! Can we be on campus full time, in a blended program, or fully online? Yes, you can! Our foundation of Biblical truth and joy-filled relationships allows us to welcome people with open arms, no matter where they come from or what type of program they select.
I invite you to join us at OLu. The truth of abundant joy found in Christ strengthens us, and we will walk together as we prepare future generations for all that life brings to them. To God be the Glory!
Blessings,
Mary K. Scott, Ed.D CEO/Executive Director
Orange Lutheran remains a Christ Centered high school providing transformational learning and life experiences to prepare the Lancer community to serve the people of the world.
Our mission is to help students internalize the Gospel message of salvation in Christ Jesus, and we do that by fostering a safe, nurturing environment where all learners can thrive as they discover and develop their unique gifts, talents, and passions.
Orange Lutheran’s renowned educators elevate the educational experience by fostering a mindset of discovery, growth, persistence, and resilience in all learners.
Faculty members are innovative and challenging as well as warm, friendly, and supportive. In the classroom, students work collaboratively and independently to dig into course content and become lifelong learners.
Students who attend classes on campus follow a “block” schedule, meaning that they attend up to four 75-minute classes each day in person. Some courses are conducted as HyFlex classes, which are personalized courses that blend in-class and independent learning activities to provide a flexible, engaging, and individualized learning experience. This format also includes one-on-one teacher-student meetings and support.
Full-Time Online (FTO) students enjoy the highest level of flexibility and take their entire courseload through Orange Lutheran Online (OLO), a leader in online high school education for more than 20 years. FTO is ideal for students who have ongoing medical issues and cannot attend classes in person, as well as those who work or who compete in competitive sports or who have a cumbersome commute between home and campus. All OLO courses are UC- and NCAA-approved, and students still receive personalized support from OLu faculty and staff.
OVERALL LEARNER TO EDUCATOR RATIO:
The Blended Learning Option combines on-campus and online learning, offering the flexibility that families with unique circumstances are looking for without sacrificing educational quality or social interaction. Students are a part of the Lancer community on campus while completing varying degrees of their coursework online through Orange Lutheran Online, depending on the number of courses they take online versus on-campus. The Blended Learning Option is offered at a lower tuition rate than full-time on-campus, yet comes with full-access to all on-campus services such as counseling, college planning, student life and extracurricular activities, and Missions.
Students who enroll in DSPS courses (see below) may attend as Blended students, as long as two or four classes are taken on-campus. DSPS services are not availble if the student only takes one course on campus.
ACCOMMODATING SPECIAL ACADEMIC NEEDS
Learners with special academic needs and diagnosed disabilities receive personalized support through the Department of Special Programs and Services (DSPS). Through customized coursework, DSPS educators help learners reach their graduation goals through accommodations in reading level, research expectations, note-taking requirements, and dedicated learning support services.
