The wine program here is quite simple - “Aspire to inspire” is our mission. The current inventory in our cellar is approximately 5,000 and growing. Our list focuses on Italian wine, and offers great selections from California, Europe and South America. Noble verticals and rare vintages also occupy our cellar. The subterrane itself, consisting mainly of stone and earth, is approximately 750+ square feet and has an annual temperature ranging from 55-62degrees. It is a self sufficient natural environment that houses our 4,000 bottle collection. Humidity and temperature are controlled naturally in this underground wine sanctuary. Here we create a harmony of food and wine, while keeping true to traditional Italian methods. We host regular wine tastings and other charitable social gatherings that always seem to revolve around our love of wine. The days of the snobby sommelier are over. Wine appreciators of today are more educated and enthusiastic than ever. We hope that our wine program offers our customers a reflection of the passion we feel for food, wine & friends.

A Salute. 1984221 EMPNO_2006241_VillagePizzeria.indd 3

Italian Red Wines

Italy is one of the worlds largest producers of wine, for more than 3000 years. The three main wine regions in Italy are Piedmont, Tuscany and Veneto.

Piedmonte

Piedmont means “at the foot of the mountains” ~ the Alps. The superstar wines of the region are Barolo and Barbaresco with the main grape varietal being Nebbiolo. BIN

Veneto is situated in the Northeastern corner of Italy on the border of Austria and one of the three regions making up the Tre-Venizie. Corvina is the primary grape used to produce the full bodied red wines such as Amarone which takes it name from the Venitian dialect and translates to “bone dry” BIN
