What are you proud to have been involved with at the University of Oregon?

I am proud to be a founder and current president of the University of Oregon’s Leet Club. Leet Club is a student group under the Computer Science department that aspires to be another simple academic resource and a vibrant community that encourages camaraderie between students and opportunities to engage and network with peers outside of a classroom setting. Generally, we go over topics that provide insight to technical and behavioral interview prep for jobs within the industry.

How do you hope to change the world?

I am very passionate about helping increase the participation of women in fields like Economics. Economics is a powerful framework to analyze difficult social issues and inequality, and we need more diversity in thought and action in the space in order to create the most relevant and impactful change. I want to help show women that they deserve a space in these fields and can be successful in these spaces as well.

What are you proud to have been involved with at the University of Oregon?

I’m most proud to have been involved with the Women In Economics Club during my time at the UO. WiE club is crucial to supporting the academic and social experiences of women in a highly male-dominated discipline. It has brought so many people together, helped members build confidence, and encouraged participation in the space. I have been so fortunate to be a part of it.

How do you hope to change the world?

I am to change the world by making a positive difference in people’s lives. To me, it is not about one big, drastic change, but rather about consistently impacting individuals in meaningful ways, helping them grow and become the better versions of themselves that our world needs.

What are you proud to have been involved with at the University of Oregon?

Reflecting on my involvement at the University of Oregon, particularly in programs like Club Softball, the Student Alumni Association, and the Lundquist College of Business Mentorship Program (Flight School), it’s tough to pick just one highlight. However, I’m especially proud of my role in shaping the Flight School Mentorship Program. How do you hope to change the world?

After completing both Special Education and Ethics minors, I have grown even more passionate about making human services more accessible for marginalized and underrepresented groups. These communities have been historically robbed of equitable resources and tools needed to thrive in their environments, and the gap continues to grow. I feel it is my duty as a future Family Human Services provider to support in closing that gap.

What are you proud to have been involved with at the University of Oregon?

I am extremely proud to have been part of the Substance Abuse Prevention and Education (SAPE) program through the Office of the Dean of Students for the past three years. For two of those years, I served as Student Director and led a team of Peer Educators whose main mission is to utilize evidencebased strategies with a focus in harm-reduction to decrease the risks associated with substance misuse. Who is your biggest role model and why?

My biggest role models are undoubtedly my parents. They’ve played a monumental role in shaping who I am today, consistently motivating me to give my best effort. Their exemplary behavior serves as a constant reminder of what it means to strive for excellence. They lead by example, always giving back to their community and supporting those around them. Witnessing their drive and commitment to continuous improvement inspires me to do the same.

Which fictional character is most like yourself?

If I had to choose a fictional character who resembles me, it would be Monica Geller from FRIENDS. Like her, I’m always busy with new projects and endeavors, but I also thrive on organization and cleanliness, which shapes the way I navigate life.

What are your goals after college?

Upon graduating this December (2024), my aim is to pursue a career in marketing, specifically within the wine industry. I’ve been offered a position in E & J Gallo’s Sales Leadership and Development Program, which excites me greatly. While my path forward isn’t completely clear, I’m enthusiastic about embracing whatever the future may hold.

One fun fact about you?

I have traveled to about 40 of the 50 states.

I take immense pride in being part of Counseling Services: Student Advisory Board as their Vice Chair-Person. Within my role, it has been especially empowering to provide feedback on the services we are currently providing students as well as participate in advocacy surrounding mental health and well-being.

Who is your biggest role model and why?

My older sister, Keani. She is my twin pillar, without whom I could not stand. I cannot help but be anything other than thankful for my first best friend. She has guided me through womanhood, sisterhood, college student growing pains, and everything in between. She has always created the space to allow me to make mistakes, but never wanted me to make the same ones she did. She continues to love me for who I am and sees nothing but the good in me. I found my potential because Keani saw it first.

Which fictional character is most like yourself?

Mia Thermopolis, from the Princess Diaries. I have always

seen a little bit of myself in Mia’s vulnerability of navigating unexpected events. While royal etiquette and being a princess wasn’t Mia’s “cup of tea”, she still kept an open mind and stretched way outside of her comfort zone. I like to live by the same motto: just try it. When Mia realized that being a Princess does not mean life has to be taken too seriously, she became the best version of herself. I too think I have reached that realization as an upcoming college graduate.

What are your goals after college? I ultimately want to gain valuable work experience. Additionally, after taking the time to travel and learning to maintain a healthy work-life balance, I plan on furthering my education by obtaining a Masters in Social Work.

One fun fact about you?

How do you hope to change the world? I hope to use my platform to uplift diverse voices and unheard communities. I think the beauty of journalism is to provide a truthful representation of the world and its residents and so often marginalized communities are overlooked. I am committed to changing this in my work by seeking out and elevating the voices that are rarely heard.

What are you proud to have been involved with at the University of Oregon?

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be involved in so many things in my time at UO. The two that have impacted me the most were my position as Director of Communications with the University Fraternity and Sorority Life’s Safety and Wellness board as well as my position as the Video Production Editor for the Daily Emerald. Being able to teach peers in both of these positions has pushed me towards growth I could only dream of. I am so grateful to have been a part of such wonderful communities.

Who is your biggest role model and why? My biggest role models are my parents. They have both taught me how to be resilient, hard working, empathetic, and kind. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them pushing me to unapologetically be myself every day.

What are you proud to have been involved with at the University of Oregon?

I am proud to have been involved with a lot of things, but to narrow it down I’d say Warsaw and Flight Crew. I am proud to have been involved with Warsaw because the club has a long legacy and has reached countless students across generations. I am beyond grateful to be involved with a club that has as much history as Warsaw. Almost opposite of the reason I’m proud to be involved with Warsaw, Flight Crew has been an amazing experience because I have been able to see an opportunity, start something new, and learn and grow from the experience.

Who is your biggest role model and why?

My biggest role models are my parents for different reasons. My dad is the hardest worker I know and my mom is the most thoughtful person I know. I aspire to be both of those things, always looking at how I can grow and at the same time always spreading kindness.

How do you hope to change the world? My goal is to empower communities through my design work rather than merely intervening. I am actively gathering knowledge from those around me so that, when the time comes to work on a global scale, I can effectively integrate this wisdom with my skills.I aim to merge new technologies with ancient traditions. I have been researching biobased materials and exploring ways to repurpose invasive species and agricultural waste into building materials. This research aims to develop a replicable global model. By doing so, I hope to reignite communities’ passion for their ancient traditions, which I believe are some of the greatest sources of knowledge for sustainable and ecological design.

How do you hope to change the world?

I want to change the world through teaching. Every child deserves a safe and fun place to learn and to be themselves. Since my first week of freshman year, I have been a part of OSPIRG, an activist group on campus. OSPIRG has helped me grow not only skill-wise but also as a person. I had the honor of running our lead campaign my sophomore year where we successfully passed a bill to ban polystyrene in Oregon.

truly amazing to follow during my education. I’ve followed Francis Kéré, who is the 2022 Architecture Pritzker Prize winner. From him, I’ve taken this concept of love and empathy through design and that into my own work. It almost feels like a superpower to me. You get to connect with people and truly be one with them. I want to make good spaces for people and do good work for others. When you work on something with the stories of who you are designing for guiding your process, you are able to design with more sensitivity and care for the material and end product.

How do you hope to change the world?

I’ve always hoped to make a positive impact on those around me, whether that be through my profession or personal endeavors!

What are you proud to have been involved with at the University of Oregon?

Something I’m proud of to be involved in at the University of Oregon is being a FIG Assistant for three years. I’ve truly seen the ways in which my role has impacted students as they transition from high school to college. Mentoring three rounds of first year students and seeing the growth and comfortability on this campus has truly inspired me in where I want to go. After my term with those students, I continue to see them around campus and they’ve updated me on their life and how much being in my FIG has helped shape their college experience!

How do you hope to change the world?

I want to use my work in marketing and communications to help change the world. Many brands do admirable work but go unrecognized. I aim to support these businesses in sharing their voices and identities with the world. Helping these brands gain the recognition they deserve will spotlight their efforts and set a standard that brands should be making a positive impact on society, using their platforms to benefit the greater good. In the past four years of college, I have been fortunate to work for a brand that has been making a difference, Shades by Shan Cosmetics, which has a nonprofit, The MamaBerries Foundation, that gives back to single parents in need. Helping this company grow and knowing my work gives back has been inspiring.
